Cuchilla Campground

Area is beautiful but it’s right off the main road and all the spots are too close. Good for a one night

I think this is actually Cuchillo Del Medio campground, not Cuchilla like it’s listed here. Either way, it’s a beautiful spot.

There were three campsites, all had good access to the creek, tables, fire rings and a bathroom nearby. I was surprised this place was free since it has those amenities.

I was in spot #3 and it was very large, with room to walk into the woods a bit on one side. The sites are pretty close together, and it’s close to the road so there’s some noise from that but the creek does a good job of drowning out the noise.

Only about 20 minutes from Wheeler Peak/Williams Lake parking lot so good spot to camp if you want to hike there.

Tapped ‘directions’ link and it sent me way up top a mountain with no exit and no campsites. Turned around, stopped and kept trying gps with no luck again. Wound up using Maps/Google which led me exactly to the very small site but got me in!

We loved it here, we were close to the road(two cliffs make it an issue) but the water was rushing and the weather was great! Fly fishing looked to be happening.
