Description
The Rio Hondo corridor through Carson National Forest offers a string of pullouts and informal sites along the creek-carved canyon on NM 150, the scenic highway climbing toward Taos Ski Valley. River noise fills the site and the canyon walls provide tree cover, making it a surprisingly restful stretch despite the highway proximity — traffic drops off after dark. Paved access and multiple wide pullouts accommodate rigs of all sizes, though the official Lower Hondo sites are gated seasonally and typically closed from late fall through late spring; dispersed pullouts along the road remain accessible outside those closures. No cell signal reaches the canyon.
