Seasonal availability: Opening dates vary significantly between properties. "Spacious campsite, although the closest water spigot wasn't working. Not a big problem as there are plenty of others. Wildlife concerns: Insects can be prevalent in certain seasons. "I was so excited when we got here. The sites are spacious and it's really beautiful. But by the 2nd day I had 3 ticks on me. My dog had one and by the end my husband had 2. That was so crazy because we were just sitting by our camper," cautions Laura Y. about her experience at Turkey Swamp Park.

Bathroom facilities vary: Quality and maintenance differ between properties. "The bathrooms and showers here were in really good condition, well cleaned and stocked, and was pleasant to use! The campsites are a little bit close to each and didn't offer much privacy but they were not right on top of each other," notes Dorian P. about Brendan Byrne State Forest.

Choose sites with playgrounds: Some cabin areas offer better facilities for children. "We went camping with our 2- and 3-year-old kids. We were worried about bugs, but we didn't even use mosquito repellent and didn't get a single bite! The campground was super clean too. It was perfect!" shares Jaewook P. about Timberland Lake Campground.

Seasonal events: Many campgrounds host special activities during holidays. "This was our first trip to Butterfly and we will be back! Large playground and lots of activities for the kids. Site was large, and had trees and shrubs separating the sites. Friendly staff and clean bathrooms," reports Jen W. about Butterfly Camping Resort.

Pack for varying weather: Temperatures can change significantly, even within seasons. "We stayed here from June 24th-27th on site 38. It was a really nice size, and the kids could fish right off the dock on the back. Pool was open for a couple days following the lifting of restrictions for COVID," shares Aaron E. about Timberland Lake Campground.

Site surface considerations: Some cabin and RV areas have challenging ground conditions. "4½ Stars Quick Weekend Getaway. Our site(#90) was a level pull-thru with 50-amp electric, water, sewer, and cable. It was roomy, shady, and easy to pull in and out. The hook-ups were all well-maintained and worked fine," reports Matt S. about Pine Cone Resort.

Check for full hookup options: Availability varies between properties. "We picked this campground because it was close to my niece wedding reception. We made a multi-stop journey here. It was big rig friendly and the site we were at was private. It had a nice barbecue grill and fire rig," shares Sandra H. about Butterfly Camping Resort.

This place has a few pros as compared to others in the area. It has very pleasant staff, a great pool and decent facilities. Site was ok.
