This campground id minutes away from Luca Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. For an urban campground, it is better than others. The grounds are clean and the sites aren't too tight. It isn't scenic but if you want a safe place to stay and enjoy the city, this fits the bill.
Stayed here 2 nights while exploring mountain biking in the area. We will look for other campgrounds in the future. The main area of the campground had many rundown seasonal sites with sketchy looking units. Our site was overgrown and the parking pad had large chunks of rock and was challenging to level.
Nothing spectacular but clean and free!
Set up in this parking lot at the Winter Park resort after striking out with finding other sites in the area. You have to be self contained and the limit is 3 nights. No need to check in or register - just pull in and set up. The good thing is that it was easy and close to the mountain bike trails and town. There are lights in the lot but they weren't on so it was pretty dark at night.
Not the greatest place but it was quiet and had full hookups for $50 a night (cheaper than most in CO). Stayed for 5 nights on vacation to ride the mountain bike trails and hike. Was convenient but would consider staying elsewhere in the future.
Due to COVID, the bathrooms and showers were closed. Not a big deal for us as our camper served us well.
We stumbled upon this campground and loved it. There are no open bathrooms os showers but there are lots of sites, many with 30 amp and water connections. There is a dump site and garbage on site. Totally chill spot to just hang out and explore the area.
This is a small park in Platteville, across the street from the high school. First thing is that the gnats were horrible - we couldn't even sit outside at all (we were there mid June). The second thing I would add is that there really aren't sites, just parking spots along an area where some can access electric and water and some not.
The sign says no reservations yet we were parked and planning to tough it out when we had an aggressive knock on our camper door around 10pm. There was a guy with a huge camper, visibly angry, shaking his finger at me that we were in his camping spot. Mind you, there are no reservations, which to me means if you aren't physically in the spot, then it's fair game. He said his daughter came earlier in the day, paid, and put a slip on the post. I looked closely at the post and sure enough - again, there are no reservations at this park…
Given the visible anger, we decided that the path of least resistance was the way to go. We packed up and promptly left. And we will not be back…
This is a privately owned campground and is in need of some updates. The bathrooms are kind of nasty and the whole area had a rundown feeling.
If you are passing through and just need a cheap place for the night, you could do worse… I doubt that I will stay here again.
This is a great campground on the west band of the Missouri River. Very nice and well kept facilities but beware there are lots of cottonwoods and at times during our stay it looked like it was snowing.
Access to this area is off highway 44 but be prepared for several miles of minimally maintained dirt road (with some big hills) to get there. I'd stay here again but I'd also research when the cottonwoods are not shedding their seeds.
We stayed here on a trip out to Glacier NP. If you are just passing through to get from point A-B and don't want to get out into the back country, this campsite really fits the bill.
It's clean, maintained and relatively quiet. As others noted, it's essentially free, donations accepted.
Honestly, I probably will not stay on this side of the park when I return to Glacier. The campsites were very rocky and uneven. There were pads for tents but unless you have a very small tent, it's not going to fit. Add to that, the area is very exposed to winds and dramatic weather changes. The entire time we were there (early July), it never got out of the upper 40's whereas the west side of the park was in the 70's.
The bathrooms were just okay, could use an update.
We stayed here with our popup camper for a week and loved the area. The views are outstanding, the sites (non electric) were spacious and the bathrooms/showers were very clean. This campground is a good balance in proximity to Steamboat and to the mountain bike trails in the area.
There are full hookup RV sites and as expected, they are pretty tightly spaced. That said, I would consider staying here on the RV side of the campground as well. Everyone we met was friendly and respectful of quiet times etc.
I'll definitely be staying at this campground on my next visit to the Black Hills. Very nice for tent camping or boondocking with a small trailer. If you are looking for full RV hookups, they do have them but the RV sites are a bit tighter than I might prefer.
