Solid Place To Stay

I rolled in mid-afternoon and was able to find a great spot to camp for a couple of days.  The sites were well dispersed and clean with picnic tables and fire pits available.

AT&T phone service was available and at good speeds.  I chose to stay the extra day and was able to work remotely…

Some good some BAD

We pulled in on a Thursday afternoon. The sign on the office said go across the street to pool, no big deal I had my space # so we pulled in set up then drove over to The pool. I had already paid so it was easy the nice person handed me the receipt and said have a nice day we asked about swimming…

Beautiful, peaceful, free

This is a very nice little campground that is free. There is a great hiking trail from the campground - listed in Lonely Planet Hiking the Rockies. Pit toilet and pump water. Sporadic cell phone connection.

A bit of paradise

Well worth the drive and the short hike up the mountain. Beautiful views from all around the tower. Very peaceful and relaxing. The tower sleeps 2 with a bed platform. Items provided are a coleman latern, a 2 burner propane stove, a wood stove for heat, a bow saw, and an axe.

There is an outhouse…

Clean, spacious and was only about a third full in the late afternoon

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow and stayed in site 17 (away from the river) for 1 day in early August.  We were headed up US-93 toward Glacier NP and needed a place to overnight and all of the NF campgrounds in the area were full.  $18 for non-residents is a bit…

Hard to find and busy

The campground and boat launches sit on a spit reaching out into Georgetown Lake. There are two boat launches, one for non motorized and one for motorized boats. There are also two areas for camping- one close to the non motorized launch and one that stretches from the motorized launch along the…

Hidden Gem

What an unbelievable place. Found this place on a total random pick. I was actually a little concerned about the cell/WiFi ability with being so potential remote. When we booked our RV spot with Porter he mentioned that Verizon cell service wasn’t very good but they did offer free WiFi which was…

Easier mountain lake hike

Around 7 miles one way to the lake, only gain 3000ft over the course of the hike with around 1000ft of elevation gain in last mile. Scenic mountain meadows lots of vegetations, creek nearby for a good portion of the hike.

Nice mountain lakes

About 5 miles one way to Peterson lake, anither 1 and 2 miles to Duffy and Holloway lakes above Peterson. Nice secluded valley heading into Bitteroot-Selway wilderness. You gain around 1700ft in elevation before dropping down around 800ft into the first lake.

Clean and quiet at night

Nice little campground outside of Philipsburg next to the highway and a creek. There are only 10 sites on the lollipop loop, 6 along the “stick”, all on the creek side, and 4 on the loop. There are a couple extra vehicle parking areas too. Creek side sites are better, but sites 7 and 8 seem to be…

Quiet camping in the Bitterroots.

Nice little campground in the Bitterroot Valley. It seemed that there were as many dogs as people in the campground. Sites varied in size and shape and shade. I like the sites on the far side of the loop as they are closer to the creek and away from the dusty road. Water at the spigots was good,…

Quiet and close to Missoula

This is a pretty quiet fishing campground. In fact, if you have a fishing license it’s cheaper to stay here than if you don’t. The river/creek is pretty flat and low in mid July, but I guess there are fish as there were plenty of fishermen here. There is a boat launch for non motorized boats…

Shady, spacious, private. Access to river, trails.

The RV sites are level and have lots of shade and privacy. This is the kind of campground you want to stay a few days to relax in. There are communal water spigots, but they are not threaded so you can’t screw on a hose to refill your tanks. The pit toilets actually smell good, provided people…
