Within Deerlodge National Forest, Flint Creek Campground operates as a small US Forest Service facility offering free camping along a creek corridor. The campground features 10 first-come, first-served sites arranged in a lollipop loop configuration, with six sites positioned along the access road and four on the loop itself.
Creek access defines much of the camping experience here. Six sites sit directly alongside Flint Creek, providing water access for filtering and the sound of moving water. Sites 7 and 8 offer the most space according to campers, while all sites include standard picnic tables and fire pits. One vault toilet serves the campground, and a camp host manages the facility despite its free status and small size.
Highway proximity brings both convenience and noise considerations. Morning traffic begins around 6:30 AM, creating daytime sound levels that contrast with quieter evening hours. Annie C. notes the campground sits "next to the highway and a creek," capturing this dual character. The facility provides drinking water, trash service, and allows alcohol, though pets are prohibited.
The campground works best for tent camping and smaller RVs, with no hookups available. Campers can explore additional options at campgrounds around Philipsburg or find similar forest settings through camping near Deerlodge National Forest. Georgetown Lake lies nearby for day trips.
