Bass Creek flows through Charles Waters Campground, a Forest Service facility located about five miles west of Florence in the Bitterroot National Forest. The campground sits in a wooded setting with paved roads and asphalt parking pads that accommodate rigs up to 33 feet, though low-hanging branches limit clearance for taller RVs above 13 feet.
Sites vary in size and configuration, with both pull-through and back-in options available on a first-come basis. Teresa M. found her site "HUGE" with Bass Creek running about 50 yards away. The creek provides a constant water sound throughout the campground, though multiple reviewers note the shallow water doesn't offer productive fishing opportunities. Sites on the far side of the loop sit closer to the creek and away from the dusty access road.
The campground provides vault toilets that reviewers consistently describe as clean and spacious, along with water spigots distributed throughout the area. A camp host maintains the facility during peak season, and trash service operates from May through November. Hiking, biking, and horseback trails cross the road from the campground, with a forest road leading up the mountainside to viewpoints. The facility includes designated areas for horse trailer staging and a group site for larger parties.
Access requires driving about a mile off Highway 93 on what some campers describe as a rough road. steve D. notes the campground offers "well spaced" sites with "pretty flat and big" parking pads. Weekend arrivals by late afternoon often find limited availability, as the campground typically fills by evening during summer months. For additional options in the region, campers can explore camping spots around Florence or the nearby Larry Creek Group Campground just one mile northeast.
