Blodgett Campground

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Fishing and hiking draw most visitors to Blodgett Campground, a small Forest Service site set along a creek in the Bitterroot National Forest, roughly six miles from the main road. The access road is a notable consideration: reviewers mention the drive in, and anyone towing a larger rig should factor in that distance on a forest road before committing. The site sits beside the creek, and anglers report good wild trout fishing, including fly-fishing opportunities that have kept some visitors returning for years.

The campground has six sites total, five of which accommodate RVs or tents, plus a sixth tent-only spot. Sites fill fast. Because there is no reservation system, arriving early is the most reliable strategy, particularly on summer weekends. Amenities include a vault toilet, pump water, picnic tables, and fire rings. Trash service is provided, and the sites reviewers consistently describe as clean and well-maintained.

Cell coverage is limited but not absent. Verizon users report getting a workable signal. The Blodgett Canyon trail departs directly from the campground and is well-regarded enough to appear in published hiking guides, with granite canyon walls rising on both sides of the route. Matt P. describes the host as "a great, funny host," and multiple reviewers mention the camp host's helpfulness and knowledge of the area. Note that pets are not allowed. Campers looking at campsites near Hamilton will find this one of the more activity-oriented options in the corridor, though the 14-day stay limit means planning ahead for longer trips.

Paradise.

Ive been fishing and camping here for 15 yrs. Great wild trout fly-fishing. MY father loved it. I sprinkled some of his ashes there. Peaceful, clean, Chris was a great, funny host.  Wish I could stay more than 5 days. Shoot, I'd love to be the host. For free!
