Best RV Parks & Resorts near Dillon, MT

Dillon, Montana provides several RV park options with varying amenities and site configurations. Southside RV Park offers full hookup sites with 30/50-amp service and operates from March through December, featuring level gravel sites with adequate spacing. ["Nicest place we've stayed. Lots of space between spots. Most are pull through. All gravel except the grass but very level and really well surfaced."] Countryside RV Park remains open year-round with full hookup sites including electric, water, and sewer connections, accommodating big rigs with pull-through access. Beaverhead River RV Park features 30-amp service with water and sewer hookups, though some reviewers note the sites can be close together, particularly in the full hookup section. Beaver Head RV Park & Campground provides electric hookups and water access but has received mixed reviews regarding site maintenance.

Most RV parks near Dillon require reservations during peak summer months, with availability becoming more limited on weekends. Cell service varies throughout the area, with stronger connections at parks closer to town. Dump stations are available at most parks, though one reviewer mentioned that Beaverhead River RV Park has "openings for dumping a couple of inches below ground level" requiring rocks to hold the hose in place. Propane is available at select locations, including Beaverhead River RV Park which also offers a store for basic supplies. Pet policies are generally accommodating, with designated pet areas at some parks. Winter travelers should note that while Countryside RV Park remains open year-round, water hookups may be unavailable during freezing temperatures, as one visitor experienced in April when "water was available but not yet turned on."

    Palisades Campground

    Quiet in thick wooded area

Not a lot of spots but the ones they do have nice fire rings, tucked away spots for tents, bear boxes and picnic tables. The sites are kinda close to one another so if you’re looking for private this is probably not it. A couple of bathrooms. We have not seen a pay station so not sure if it costs or not. One review said it did. Close to town of Red Lodge where you can get supplies, gas, etc. was able to easily get down the road with our 13 ft travel trailer. We had a couple of bars of internet!

    South Van Houten Campground

    Lovely lakeside camping for free!

Nice small camping area with about 5 sites, complete with picnic tables and fire rings with grills. It was a fairly long drive down a somewhat road but wide gravel road, but I did see a truck with a big fifth wheel on it, so you can definitely do it!

Fishing in lake, just no motorized boats. Pit toilets. Pretty area!

Sportsman Lodge, Cabins & RV Park

    Great spot, very friendly

This is a great spot in a tiny town south of Butte Montana. They have a couple cabins, several motel rooms and about 10 full hookup, all grass, RV spots. Also a large area for car/tent camping. The grounds are meticulously maintained by the owner and it has nice views of the bluffs and mountains all around it. Walking distance to the restaurant and bar in town if that’s your thing. Quality hookups at each site, and each site has its own trash can. Clean bathrooms and laundry on site. Owners are very present and attentive on site and super friendly. Picnic tables at every site. One shared fire pit out front of the office. It’s in a very small town, with several fishing spots nearby. Very peaceful location. We would stay again.

A few things to be aware of:

    • All sites are back in, but they are reasonably wide and very long.
    • It is about a mile or two from the interstate which is convenient but you can occasionally hear a large truck pass by.
    • There is a train track nearby, we heard about one train per day in the morning.
    • We were here in July and there were some mosquitos. If you plan to be outside probably bring a citronella candle or bug spray.

    Divide Bridge Campground

    Great Forest Service Campground

Clean vault toilets. Friendly Hosts on sight. Grounds well maintained. WATER AVAILABLE. Came in dry and filled up with water. Lower campground has several sites on water. Upper is more rustic with larger lots. (We have a 40 foot fifth wheel) Lovely hike to the top of the mountain over looks the park and the Big Hole River. Boat ramp in the campground and also one at the main entrance (fun for dogs ) Only 10.00/night. 4 stars because the mosquitoes were INSANE! Apparently only in July and August.

    Glen Campground

    Nice free camping

Nice free camping area with fishing access near a nice river. Only 9 miles from Dillon. Easy gravel road in and out and at least 1 pull through site for bigger rigs. When I was there in July, big mosquitoes were swarming me! But a little deet resolved the issue. Only 1 other person camping there. Very quiet!

    Beaverhead River RV Park

Older RV Park used to be a KOA

We stayed here twice this year, once going North and then headed South for home.  First time they put us in a full hook-up that was to small so I asked for a bigger spot and because about 1/3rd of the spots were empty, they moved me.  Owner was very friendly and willing to find us a better spot.  Second time was on Sunday and the note on door put us in an even smaller full hook-up, despite me asking for a bigger site so I wouldn't have to unhook.  This is one reason for only three stars.  Office was closed and no one answered the phone or returned our call.  The site was totally unacceptable.  Even if I un-hooked there was not enough room to park the pick-up truck.  Left several messages, no response.  We moved to an empty water/electric only site and set up.  An hour later another camper came in and said we were in their spot.  We moved again to another spot hoping no one would claim it.  Still no response from owner.  I guess camp is unsupervised on Sunday.  Maybe owner was out of town.

Second reason for only three stars:  Camp is older and full hook-up sites are close to each other.  I did not see any 50 amp, only 30 amp.  The openings for dumping are a couple of inches below ground level and the kind you just point the hose down and put a few rocks over to hold it down.  Gravel sites that are mostly level.

The Good:  The water and electric only sites in the back (spots 28 to 36) of the park are long and spread out.  I recommend if you can go without having sewer connection, the ones in back (spots 28 to 36) are the best to stay in.  Don't get the ones in front.  Big trees and lots of grass (but watch out for the gofer holes).  Quiet and peaceful night.

Did not use their restrooms or showers or pool (may not have been open) so no comment.  There is a dump site.  Wifi was 17 mbs but slowed down in the evening.  We use AT&T and got two bars of 5G.

    Ennis Montana FWP

Camp and fish along the Madison river

Ennis fishing access site is located on the Madison River just on the south edge of town. This is a First come, First serve campground that is walking distance to the town of Ennis. Some sites sit along the river, some spots are more private toward the back of the campground. It appears not much effort was placed in making this site a campground, sites are unlevel and parking pads vary from gravel, to dirt or grass. This is a dry campground like most FAS sites. A small vault toilet serves the area, site are numbered and have a picnic table and appear to all have rock fire rings. Fishing must be good here as this site always appears full when I drive by. Several spots appeared to have nice grassy areas for tents. If you have a large RV you might want to park at a parking area at the entrance and walk in to make sure there is a place big enough for you as the layout of the campground might get a bit tight for a larger RV. The fishing access site is closed to camping from December 1st through April 31st every year.

    Lake Shore Lodge

    Quiet campground on Ennis Lake

We stayed at Lake Shore Lodge Campground while visiting my parents in Ennis.

The campground is situated right on the northern shore of Ennis Lake and has a boat launch ramp for those looking to fish.

We stayed three nights at the beginning of July. Our site had water, sewer, and 30amp service. We were able to fit our 39ft toy hauler in with almost no issues.

The campground is very peaceful and appears to have a lot of seasonal residents.

Wood and ice are available from the front desk. Bath houses and laundry are also available on site.
