Beaverhead Campground

Gravel sites spread across an open area beside Clark Canyon Reservoir, with the west side of the campground serving as an informal boat launch that provides easy water access for all ages. The proximity to Interstate 15 means road noise is a constant presence, particularly from semis using the adjacent rest area. Sienna V. notes "hearing semis or loud vehicles stop at the rest lot right next to the camp."

Each site includes a fire ring and picnic table, with many featuring ramadas that provide shade cover over the tables. Vault toilets are distributed throughout the campground, and a manual water pump supplies drinking water. The layout accommodates RVs up to 50 feet, with reviewers confirming that large rigs fit comfortably on the flat gravel pads. No electrical hookups or dump stations are available.

The reservoir offers fishing and boating opportunities, with Tyler M. describing sunsets "over the water." The dam crossing leads to a sign marking the halfway point between the North Pole and equator. Nearby Clark Canyon Reservoir, Dillion Montana provides additional camping options with different amenities.

Occupancy varies significantly by season and day of the week, with some reviewers finding the campground nearly empty on weekdays while others report half-full conditions on Tuesday visits. The campground's position right off the highway makes access straightforward for travelers, though the lack of shade trees means bringing sun protection is essential during warmer months.

Cell service is available, making this a practical overnight stop for travelers heading to southern destinations while offering extended stays for those focused on water activities.

Visitors often highlighted the spacious, big-rig friendly sites right on the reservoir with stunning mountain views. Common feedback included clean facilities and quiet atmosphere, though it's dry camping with no hookups. Some noted highway noise from the nearby rest area.

Room for dogs to run

Towing a 30 foot toy hauler. Easy in and out and just off of Hwy 15. Free camping at its best. No water, power or dump here but worth staying a night or if you fish stay here and enjoy. The boat launch near the closed snack shack is a great place for dogs to run around and there is a service road to jog/walk around the east and south side of the lake.

Great free camping spot!

There was so much room for tents, rigs, cars, and boat trailers. Dog friendly, clean pit toilets, manual water pump, and beautiful sunrise/sunset over the lake. Only a few people stopped for a Saturday evening which was surprising. Only downside is hearing semis or loud vehicles stop at the rest lot right next to the camp.

Very pleasant site

The view of the surrounding snow packed peaks was beautiful with the new June green grass.  Site was somewhat flat.  Dry camping.  Shelter with picnic table.

Beaverhead CG

Better than we expected. Missed the turn into this little gem, and traveled across the dam to the pay CG across the lake. That one needs work. Unless you absolutely must have utilities at the site, pass on the pay CG, and stay at Beaverhead. Large, flat gravel pads (our 43.5' TH fits fine), not crowded, and almost every site has a firepit and ramada over the picnic table. The host is very friendly, and directed us to the best site for our rig.

Quite in the spring

We stayed here on a 1 night stop over on our way to moab. We crossed the dam and found an entire campground empty. Very basic but quiet. Woke up to snow on the ground.

Wonderful Spot on the Reservoir, but not Much Shade

This is the spot to camp if you plan on spending most of your time here out on the water!  It seems like the entire west side of the campground where it meets the water could be used as a boat ramp and offers nice easy access to the reservoir for any age!  It is also the campground that is closest to the interstate (read busiest)  We were there on a Tuesday and almost half of the campground was full.  I can't even imagine what its like on a weekend let alone a holiday.

The campsites themselves are pretty basic.  A fire ring and picnic table are at each of the sites with vault toilets within walking distance.  There are pretty much no shade trees so plan on bringing an umbrella or something similar to keep yourself cool.  If you cross over the dam to the west side of the reservoir you'll also see a sign that is exactly half way between the north pole and the equator!

Great view of the lake! Nice campground, very open & spacious sitting on the shore of the lake. Pit toilets, no electricity, & no water we could find but very very quiet.
