West Yellowstone supports several RV parks with full hookup sites, including Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park and Resort, Pony Express Motel & RV Park, and Yellowstone Holiday Resort. Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park offers spacious gravel sites with paved picnic areas and full hookups, located just blocks from the park entrance. ["Extremely friendly staff. Clean park and restrooms. Laundry facilities. Shade trees and kept lawns."] Several parks accommodate big rigs, with Yellowstone Holiday Resort situated on Hebgen Lake providing mountain views and larger sites. Fox Den RV and Campground offers more budget-friendly options with full hookups and gravel sites that can handle larger motorhomes.

Most RV parks near West Yellowstone operate seasonally, typically from May through September or October, with limited winter availability. Road access to campgrounds varies, with highways leading to West Yellowstone generally well-maintained but mountain approaches requiring careful navigation. Cell service strength differs between locations, with stronger signals closer to town and spotty coverage at outlying campgrounds like Henrys Lake State Park. Dump stations are available at most RV parks, with Yellowstone Grizzly offering pay-per-use dumping for non-guests. Reservations are strongly recommended during peak summer months as parks fill quickly, especially those closest to Yellowstone's west entrance. One visitor noted that "the price was very reasonable compared to other places" at Fox Den RV, while premium sites at larger resorts command higher rates.

Fishing Bridge RV Park--Yellowstone National Park

      Windy but ok

Fishing Bridge is the only hard sided RV only, full hook-up campground that can accommodate big rigs inside Yellowstone National Park.  We were in loop E, which had concrete pads and picnic tables.  Every site in loop E is a pull through, which is nice.  However, there is zero shade and it gets windy.  It didn't seem to bother some of the other campers since people were still eating at their picnic tables, but I found it tedious to combat the wind whilst trying to have dinner the one night we did attempt to eat outside.  Campfires and propane fire pits are not allowed so you will find zero campfire rings in this campground.  You can have either propane grills or charcoal grills, but they have to be kept within the RV/trailer or tow vehicle at night.  Nothing should be left outside at night due to the possibility of curious bears that come looking for food.  We played it safe and  locked up everything during the day when we weren't there and at night.  Just outside the rv park is a general store with souvenirs, small grocery, camping gear, and deli.  There's also a gas station and rv/auto parts store.  Across from that is the Fishing Bridge Visitor's Center.  Fishing Bridge is located centrally in the park on the east entrance road.  The website says cell service is spotty, but I had no issues with Verizon and had decent service in the rv park and surrounding Fishing Bridge area as well as the other main attraction areas in the park (Old Faithful, Canyon Village, etc.)  Basically, if there were amenities--hotels/lodges, gas stations, campgrounds--there was cell service in and around that area.  There was little or no service between those areas.  We stayed 4 nights, Monday-Friday, and even though there were signs that said the park was full, I always saw empty spaces, at least in loop E.

      Henrys Lake State Park Campground

      Epic Views. Great Location.

There is great boon docking outside of the organized campground area.  Follow your GPS to 44°35'52"N x 111°25'18"W.  At ~6,500 feet, the views of Lake Henry are amazing.  There are 15-20 spots suitable for RV's (of any length) plus campsites.  It's a great location, only about 20-30 minutes from West Yellowstone and the entrance to the national park.  We could have stayed here for days!

      5-bar coverage on Verizon.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park and Resort

      Clean, quiet, well-kept

Spent four days the end of August.  Weather was pleasant and campground was very clean.  Spacing not too bad, but I like State Parks as you get privacy.  You are very close to town and entrance to Yellowstone National Park.  Has full hookups to include cable TV.

      Bakers Hole Campground

Great setting, close to West Yellowstone

Stayed for 4 nights in #31. Electric hook-up and near water spigot & pit toilet.

My total cost per night (with senior discount) was $22 for an electric site.  Without the senior discount... it is $35/night for electric site.

I'd correct a couple things in the Dyrt page.

      1.  There is no RV dump station at the campground. I traveled ~3 miles into West Yellowstone and for $30 dumped my tanks at the "Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park".

      2. T-mobile coverage is poor.  I typically had 1 bar, sometimes 2.

Also, they charge double for many of the pull-thru sites.

Other than those minor issues, I'd love to come back & stay here again.  RV potable water fill up is at the sign-in kiosk. Pit toilets were very clean.  The electric box at my site had the 30AMP toggle broken, so I used an adaptor and the 50 AMP.  A maintenance fellow came by the next day to fix it.  Campsite host was very friendly.  Great setting and easy access to West Yellowstone. The drive into many of the Yellowstone NP attractions from West Yellowstone is long (~ 40 miles to Yellowstone River Falls/Canyon), so have plenty of gas.

The Madison River is the closest attraction in Yellowstone NP. I enjoyed buffalo, elk, Sandhill Cranes, Cinnamon teal, American Wigeon, Common Mergansers and Great Blue Heron's in the big meadows.

Arrived May 7, 2026 and had  the pick of several electric sites and numerous non-electric. Madison River is a short walk and beautiful. Moose droppings and great moose habitat all along the campground river frontage. Except for the highway sounds during the day the site was quiet.  The highway was very quiet at night.

      Rainbow Point Campground

We loved it! Dusty but beautiful!

Overall Impression: Rainbow Point was a peaceful and scenic spot with great proximity to West Yellowstone. Sites were nicely spaced, and the setting was woodsy and quiet—perfect for a national forest stay.

Site Quality & Rig Access: We squeezed our 39'8" fifth wheel into a 35' site (Loop D), but site lengths are strictly enforced—there are concrete barriers at the back of each pad, so no overhang is possible. If we had a dually, our truck would not have fit in the site with us. Pads were level and shaded with a nice forest canopy.

Road & Dust Conditions: The access road and internal roads are semi-smooth but very dusty. The lack of gravel made for large dust clouds anytime a vehicle or bike passed, which wasn’t ideal when cooking or sitting outside.

Water & Utilities: There are 3 water posts per loop, but they’re brown and hard to see. Most sites can’t reach them, so fill up your tanks before parking. No sewer or electric hookups, but there are bear boxes at each site. Vault toilets looked clean, though we didn’t use them. We rely on solar and found the lighting pretty dim due to tree cover.

Wildlife & Atmosphere: We didn’t see bears, but each site had a bear box and we spotted one elk during our stay. Quiet hours were respected throughout Loop D, and the campground stayed peaceful even when full. Nights were chilly, and tree cover helped keep daytime temps cool.

Connectivity: T-Mobile home internet worked well here, as did our AT&T hotspot and Xfinity phones—strong coverage for all three providers, which was a huge plus for working remotely.

Proximity to Town: Only a short drive into West Yellowstone. While we didn’t stop in town this trip, we passed through and it looked lively, with lots of shops, restaurants, and more ice cream stands than we could count.

Would We Stay Again? Yes—great for a dry camping base near Yellowstone if you're prepared for the dust and know your rig’s exact length. A solid mix of solitude, shade, and signal.

      Henrys Lake State Park Campground

      Close to Yellowstone

We stayed a week here, beautiful views and quiet. Our site was close to level and paved, 50amp,no sewer, shared water. Had some storms and high winds. Trash pick up daily at your site. There is a boat ramp and docks. Bath house looked good we did not use the showers. There is no dump station here. The park is about 15 miles from West Yellowstone. We enjoyed our stay.

Indian Creek Campground — Yellowstone National Park

      Far from the madding crowd

Camped here many times over the years, it was our favorite place in the park. It's a bit more like a National Forest CG because it's somewhat off the beaten path and quiet. It is certainly more crowded these days than it used to be, back then it rarely filled.

The site are good, some more private than others. It is NOT a place for Big Rigs, I think the length limit was 35' last time I was there (vehicle + trailer or whatever you're pulling) and they strictly enforced that. The volunteers at the entrance cabin actually brought out a tape measure and measured my 4Runner and 17' Casita at 31' so we got in. Many rigs behind us in line were too big and were turned away.

The creeks (Indian & Obsidian) contain small Brook Trout. For supplies, Mammoth is the closest place.

Have been the in June, July August & September.

The campground is totally on the reservation system unlike a few years ago. No 1st come, 1st serve anymore.

Yellowstone Grizzly RV Park and Resort

Just minutes from the West Yellowstone entrance

West Yellowstone Grizzly campground is located close to the West Yellowstone entrance. It is an Rv Park, lodging, and cabins. It is also in the town of West Yellowstone which is a darling little town with so much to do. The Rv sites are full hook ups and they have picnic benches on a leveled gravel site. There are no fires allowed here and it is pet friendly. . They have WiFi and cable. The sites are pretty close together, which I did not like. There is a grass area on each site which is wonderful for dogs. There are 4 laundry rooms and clean bathrooms and showers. We stayed for 2 days and would stay again.

    Guide to West Yellowstone

Many RV parks near West Yellowstone, Montana operate in a high-elevation environment at approximately 6,600 feet, creating cooler night temperatures even in summer months. The area experiences dramatic seasonal transitions, with most campgrounds closing by mid-October due to early snowfall. Winter temperatures can drop to -20°F or lower, while summer daytime highs typically range from 70-80°F.

    What to do

Fishing at Henrys Lake: Located 15 miles from West Yellowstone, this popular fishing destination is accessible from Red Rock RV Park, where campers note "several lakes and rivers in the area and great fishing" as key attractions. The lake is known for cutthroat trout, brook trout, and cutthroat-rainbow hybrids.

Kayaking opportunities: Multiple rivers provide paddling options throughout the season. "The spaces are shaded with picnic tables and fire pits. Perfect playground and easy access to the river for kayaking or paddle boarding," reports a camper at Yellowstone RV Park at Mack's Inn.

Wildlife viewing: The area hosts abundant wildlife year-round. At Yellowstone Holiday Resort, guests encounter "visits from the resident bison on property" and can often spot elk and deer at dawn and dusk from various campgrounds.

    What campers like

Walking distance to town amenities: Several campgrounds offer proximity to West Yellowstone's shops and restaurants. A visitor at Fox Den RV and Campground appreciated the "location. In walking distance to all West Yellowstone shops and restaurants," making it convenient for supplies or dining out.

Clean facilities: Well-maintained restrooms and showers rank high with campers. At Yellowstone RV Park, guests noted "bathrooms were great" and "laundry that was clean and not expensive," providing essential services for extended stays.

Mountain views: Many campgrounds offer scenic vistas. "Mountain views from the park" was highlighted by one visitor at Yellowstone Holiday Resort, while another mentioned that "views are stunning" from premium lakeside sites, providing a peaceful backdrop to camping experiences.

    What you should know

Limited tent camping options: While most RV parks near West Yellowstone cater to motorhomes and trailers, tent camping is harder to find. According to one camper, Fox Den RV and Campground is "the only campground in West Yellowstone that accepts tents. There's another 5km north of town that accepts tents, but this is the only one in town."

Site spacing varies significantly: Some RV parks offer spacious sites while others are more compact. One camper described Fox Den as having "the smallest campground we have ever stayed at. All hookups worked but your neighbors are truly only 4 feet away," contrasting with parks offering larger sites outside town.

Weather preparedness essential: Mountain weather changes rapidly. A visitor to Valley View RV Park noted "it did rain, snow, and hail during our trip, which everyone says was not expected for this time of year but not shocking considering it's late September." Pack appropriate clothing for all seasons, even in summer.

    Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds and green spaces: Some campgrounds provide family-friendly amenities. Red Rock RV Park offers a "huge playground area for the kids," making it popular for families with younger children needing outdoor play space.

Educational opportunities: The West Yellowstone area offers learning experiences beyond the national park. "We went to a community play at the Playmill theater and were able to walk. We enjoyed the play also," shared a visitor at Pony Express Motel & RV Park, highlighting cultural activities within walking distance.

Swimming areas: Select campgrounds provide water access for cooling off during summer heat. At Yellowstone Holiday Resort, "the swimming area is clean, refreshing, and perfect for families," according to one reviewer who appreciated the safe lake access.

    Tips from RVers

Limited cellular connectivity: Internet and phone service vary by location. At Buffalo Run Campground, campers report that "AT&T coverage inconsistent, ranging from 1-3 Bars of LTE, but service ranged from about 2.5 MB/s to no data service at all. The CG's WiFi performed similarly."

Off-season availability: Finding open campgrounds outside peak summer months can be challenging. Buffalo Run Campground was noted as "seats open while most other places are closed after Oct 1," offering later-season camping opportunities when other facilities shut down.

Space constraints: RV site dimensions matter when selecting a campground. One visitor to Pony Express Motel & RV Park observed that "many of the spaces do not have any tree coverage although most sites do have full hook ups. You are right on top of your neighbor," highlighting the need to research site dimensions before booking.
