One camper noted, “The setting is so beautiful and the caves are worth the tour!”

Amazing Site

This area is stunning! The setting is so beautiful and the caves are worth the tour! The trails for hiking are well marked and in good condition. The sites are nice, not too close together. There's only a few trees, so not very private. The wind blows A LOT here, so be prepared. The bathrooms are okay, in need up a new coat of paint. Did not try the showers as it was cold while we were there and the shower area are unheated cinderblock rooms. They're putting in a new dump station. Electric only at some sites. $30/ nite non residents, $20 nite for Montanans.

Nice view

Only RV location with hookups around the lake. Make sure to call in advance after October as they close for the season.

Decent space between gravel sites but no real shade for hotter days. Boat ramp access as part of their park. Verizon had spotty signal (less than 1 bar).

Nice reservoir!

Stopped at this place after leaving Yellowstone and beginning to head south. It is nice reservoir! Swimming, boating, kayaking, etc! You can pretty much choose your favorite spot around the whole reservoir and just park and set up camp. Weather was nice mid August and no mosquitos which was a big plus for me! This place was a perfect midway stop!

RV Camping Right by a Beautiful Reservoir!

A beautiful combination of the mountains and Big Sky of Montana!  This reservoir is quite large and even has a cool little island in the middle of it that you can cliff dive from when the waters are high enough!  There are boat docks, day-use areas, and campgrounds spread all around the reservoir.  The campground we featured in this review was an RV only site (because why would you tent camp there) that was right next to the Lewis & Clark Day-use area that has a giant canoe and flag pole.  It is an extended stay RV site with the option for paying for weeks if you plan on spending a good chunk of your summer here.

Right along the road on the dam there is a sign showing you that you're halfway between the equator and the north pole!  Also nearby is the cute, cozy town of Dillon, where you can venture into the 1st Patagonia and Great Harvest stores in the world!  If you're here around Labor Day they also have a great rodeo and parade and the Patagonia Store has HUGE discounts!

Great place at the right time

There are numerous campgrounds around the reservoir; pick your favorite based on what you want to do! We rolled up in our pickup truck on one of the lesser used areas (far from a pit toilet) and it felt like we had an entire beach to ourselves. If you have a boat, you can camp closer to the ramp for convenience. I can see this area getting crowded or buggy during the height of summer, but we had no problems for Memorial Day weekend.
