LegendThis review is based on a short stay rather than a destination campground (CG) experience. We found this CG while looking for options near Sikeston, MO, and decided to try it based on positive online reviews. Booking was easy with a same-day reservation, and we received an email with directions, the WiFi password, and instructions to pick any site between 8 and 13, designated for big rigs and short-term stays, as most of the other sites were occupied by longer-term residents. We chose pull-through site #11 with full hookups (FHU) due to its convenient angle. All of the sites, including the shorter back-ins, offer FHU. Our site accommodated our 40’ fifth wheel and F450 truck comfortably, with centrally located utilities and 40 psi water pressure. The WiFi was sufficient for checking emails and general browsing, while cell service was limited to 1 bar on Verizon and 3 bars on T-Mobile. With few trees, satellite reception wouldn’t be an issue. During our stay, we were the only short-term guests. Some sites had picnic tables and fire pits, and while ours did not, we could have moved them if desired. The CG has a nice shower house and laundry facility, but the real draw is the country store, which operates more like a restaurant. The owner and staff were exceptionally friendly, and the food was good. The sites are pretty much gravel and dirt. At $40 per night, the price felt a bit high for the amenities offered. We were there during dusty conditions, and friends came through a week later in the rain, and the CG was muddy. Along with the country store with a restaurant, there’s a dump station, plus they sell ice and propane. Being located along a frontage road off I-57, road noise was noticeable. Overall, we had a pleasant overnight stay and appreciated their hospitality.
LegendWe tried to get into an Arkansas park but they were full so we headed into Bootheel where we’ve stayed before. We called about 2 hours out and the only sites left were 30 AMP with water. GPS takes you to the campground right off I-55, but there are directions on their website that are better as far as which exit to take. Upon arrival, there are envelopes in a brown box with the available site numbers on the envelopes. We walked around to look at each site and decided on site 12. You complete the required information on the envelope, include your payment and drop it off in the drop box. The park prefers a cash payment but you can leave credit card information on the payment envelope. They do offer a Good Sam Discount. Site 12 was an easy pull through with 30 amp and water only. Parking was easy. Once set up, we found out we were blowing the breaker with only 1 aircon running, and it killed that side of the post. We plugged into site 11 on the shared post with the same results but this time we only blew the post breaker. We got a hold of the owner and she got the maintenance guy to us really quick. Come to find out, it was our 30 AMP surge protector that was the problem. Hats off to park management for a quick response. The last row has the 50 AMP FHU sites. The first three rows in the park are 30 AMP with a mix of FHUs and water & electric. We got 2 bars on AT&T and Verizon. The last time we stayed here last January they stated they were getting new park WiFi and this time the WiFi worked much better. There’s no cable but we got quite a few OTA channels. There was plenty of area to walk our dogs along the adjacent cotton fields. They also had a very nice laundry facility that was decently priced. There is quite a bit of road noise from I-55. We dumped on the way out at their dump station that only has a dump and no water for a cleaning hose. As we are based near St. Louis, MO area and traveling to northern Mississippi once a year for RV maintenance, this no frills campground makes a perfect overnighter.
TravelerThis casino RV park has all hook-ups, is very well-maintained, and our pull-through site was level. They have free laundry facilities and clean individual bathrooms with showers, ADA accessible with shower chairs. There are picnic tables and grills available nearby. Trash pickup offered daily between 8-9 am. No reservations, first come basis, we were second to arrive around 5pm and more came in later but there were spaces available next morning (they have a total of 18 pull-through and 9 back-in sites, concrete pads).
LegendIf you are traveling on I 57 or I 55 this is a great over night stay. Beautiful Campground but not to many amenities. IT does have the best internet we have had in 3 months. Love the trees and nice level sites. It has a few run down long term campers, but they don't over run the place.
ScoutThis is a Army Corps of Engineers campground. We love it because it is quite and peaceful. The sites are well maintained with asphalted pads, fire pit, grill, camp light pole and picnic table. Best of all it is full hook up. Redman West traditionally has older campers (sites 1-40)but Redman east usually has more kids (sites 41-109) (currently under remodel 2023 season). Both sides are family friendly. We camp Redman West March to November.
RangerOn the smaller side for COE parks, and generally pretty nice. Not many real level sites. Bring plenty of blocks. Some sites are pretty close to each other. Water & electric at sites, although our faucet leaked a lot. ATT & Verizon both worked weakly but got out. Shower house was clean, used, but clean. Roads were easy to navigate & several big rigs had no issues. Right off the hiway, so easy in & out.
RangerExceptional canoeing and wildlife! This park is like nothing else, it’s a flooded forest. You can kayak among this and other lovely bayou environments, lakes, etc. I love this park and have enjoyed it in all seasons. You will need a watercraft of some sort or you will be kicking yourself for not being able to enjoy it fully. You can rent canoes and boats nearby but not at the park itself. Nice easy hiking trails too. Close to town for restaurants and necessities.
