Located on Historic Route 66, this KOA is less than 1 mile from Six Flags St. Louis and I-44. It's an easy 30 minutes from other St. Louis attractions, including the Gateway Arch, Forest Park, Zoo, Missouri Botanical Garden, City Museum, Anheuser-Busch Brewery, and Grant's Farm. Stay in a Deluxe Cabin or on a Patio RV Site or Premium Tent Site. Kids love all the activities/amenities, such as the heated pool, gem mining station, and new Jumping Pillow. Groups love the pavilion and meeting space with A/C. Pool: May 10 - September 30. Your host: Paul Shepherd.

    Great Camping Near the River

This camp site has RV hook-ups and tent camping. There are trees throughout the campground if you're looking to set up a hammock. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table and is a mix of grass and light gravel. Pit toilets, no showers. Water spigots throughout the camp ground. Keep an eye out for snakes though! I nearly stepped on a copper head in the outhouse! Camp sites are a 2 minute walk to the St. Francois River. Great hiking along the river and good fishing, swimming and kayaking in the river! Also not to far from the Castor River Shut-ins if you're looking to pack two rivers into one trip. We just celebrated my husband's birthday here last weekend, though we have been a few times before. Always a blast!

    St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park

    RV delight

I wanted to escape the house and go camping while on the work from home order (Covid-19 happening at the time of this review), so I headed to a very local park and campground to pitch my tent. I've been to 370 Lakeside Park many times to walk around the huge lake and to hear concerts in the summer, but I had never camped there. Still haven't. I'll explain. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they were not so keen on having tent campers. But they were very nice and gave me the general lowdown on this "in the city" campground. Since they opened the campground, most of their campers have been RV owners, and so it is really designed for the RV camper. There is a small primitive section for group tent camping, but the majority of the sites are full hookups for RVs. Some sites are pull through and some are back in. All have picnic tables and fire pits. The park has planted some trees, but they are really just saplings, so there is no shade yet. There is a nice bathhouse with free showers for the campers and pay laundry. If you are lucky, you can get a site close to the water, but it means the walking trail is right next to your unit. Trade offs, I suppose. One couple I talked to was camping long term (I think they are permanent RV'ers) and they got a free membership to the St Peter's RecPlex recreation center with their long term spot (they said something about having to book a least a month out to get this perk). One of the downsides to this location is that it is prone to flooding. It was out of commission for most of the summer of 2019 as the entire area was flooded. But the City of St Peters did a great job getting this place back to usable with new sod, a new bathhouse, and some general sprucing up. The lake is great to walk around, about a 3 mile walk or bike on a paved trail. You can see all kinds of wildlife in and around the lake- deer, bald eagles, pelicans, ducks, snakes. In the summers they have live music in the large pavilion, and you can rent kayaks and other small boats to take out on the lake as well as bikes to ride around on. The office told me that they have 24 hour on site security also. If I really wanted to tent camp, I could rent a section of the group camping area, but $30 seemed pricey for just me, and it was very soggy to boot. Or I  could rent an RV spot, but $45 was silly when I don' t need hookups.

    Cahokia RV Parque

    Cahokia RV Parque, IL

We chose Cahokia RV Park because of its close proximity to St. Louis Missouri. We stayed in a gravel site with a concrete pad, fire pit, picnic table and full-hook ups. The spaces are tighter, but that was expected being closer to a city. There is a playground, pool and pond area to walk around. We were pleased with the cleanliness of the bathrooms and showers and had no major complaints. The price reflected what we got out of our stay.

    Beyond the Trail RV Park

    Quiet campground with clean facilities

Nice basic rv park with full hook ups and a clean shower house. All the roads and pads are gravel and level. Alll the campsites are decently sized and looks like all of them will house 25’ or bigger campers. The Katy trail is right next to the campground for waking or biking. There is also a really nice brewery right wt the entrance. Within walking distance is a really nice winery and a couple bars. All of these places have cold beer and live music on the weekends. My only complaint is they have some drainage issues if it rains a lot. A few of the campsites will flood, not bad enough to get to your camper, but just enough to be annoying.

Covered Bridge RV Park & Storage

    Small RV park, big sites

Pros: For this to be such a small RV park (smallest we’ve stayed at so far) the sites are very spacious! The wi-fi was surprisingly good enough that my wife and I could both work off of it and even stream shows on the Roku the whole week, except for our last day for some strange reason. Of course, with it being close to St. Louis we had great phone service, full bars of 5G with Verizon, and there were a lot of stores, restaurants, gas stations, etc right nearby.

Cons: There wasn’t any signage telling us where to park to check in or any of that which was more confusing because there’s a separate entrance for the office than there is for the actual park so you have to park on the park side and walk over to the office side. The park seems to be catered to full time/seasonal campers there so there’s not a lot of “amenities” like you’d normally have at an RV park (no bathrooms/showers, pool, fire ring, etc). And of course it’s not necessarily a “pretty” RV park but it’s not really ugly either, just somewhere in the middle.

Pro/con: I had to make a separate category for this because it was a pro and con. The con is: While we were there they had a record rainfall amount and the park apparently already has flooding issues so it was flooding pretty bad but also our RV was right next to a creek that had risen really high and was in danger of flooding our site completely and maybe even into our RV (worst case scenario of course). The pro is: The staff came out while this was happening to warn us of the potential flooding and offered to let us move to another site away from the creek if we needed to. Luckily, as they were discussing with us the rain had quite and the flooding was going down so we didn’t have to take any action but it was very nice that they came out to check on us and try to give us a safe place to move to.

Overall: As I’ve mentioned this is a small park that’s not anything overly special but it’s an affordable place that has very spacious full hook up sites and the staff are clearly very helpful and concerned about their guests safety. Good if you’re passing through or spending the week in the St. Louis area and just need a nice quiet place to stay.

    Wonderful park with great views

Excellent little RV park behind a brewery. The Katy trail borders the park for easy access to town. Beautiful views across a large farm field (soy beans when we were here) to the hills beyond with incredible sunsets. Full hookups with both back in and pull through sites. Definitely will come again!

    Primitive and Full Hook Up

I've seen some reviews say its outdated and I'm not sure where that comes from. On season they offer a variety of float and eat packages that are tasty and nicely priced. Cute little campground with "primitive", electric and full hook ups. All tent camping is still pretty close to the general store that also has coin showers! You have good options for a shady and grassy spot if you're tent camping too. Great folks working there, always very friendly and helpful.

Great for late night arrival and moving on...that’s it

Quick off of the highway for a late night pit stop while traveling cross country. Would never stay here for a normal camp. The most disgusting setup with sewer and fresh water literally inches from each other at all full hook up sites. Not worth the money for full hook up. I tap out when my fresh water is that close to my sewer hole. Just boondock it for water and sewer and use the power. Like I said perfect to catch some zzzzzzs off of highway but that’s it.

DRAFT KINGS AT CASINO QUEEN RV PARK.

Full hookup sites on a mostly paved RV park. Big rigs fit easily. Some small areas of grass and trees with a dog walking area around the perimeter. Small play area for kids. Clean restroom/showers, but only a few of them. The park is in an industrial area so you can hear trains occasionally as well as the METRA rail. Security rolled through frequently. Your gate code can be used for the pool and gym at the casino in addition to the bathroom and laundry area. Overall a nice place to stay close to St. Louis, we would stay here again.

    Clean, scenic state park

Park was clean, and very pretty. Lots of people, but that is to be expected. Plenty to do in the area including hiking, cool restaurants, swimming in the river etc.

Park was well kept, and felt safe. We stayed at the full hook ups spot and everything worked as it should.

Only negative (if you count this as a negative) was there is no wifi and poor cell phone reception.

Nice campground close to St. Louis

This is another campground that our family has went to for many years. And while there hasn’t been a lot of updates done it is still a nice family friendly campground with pretty much everything that you need and all within an hour of St. Louis. There is everything from Basic campsites all the way up to full hook up RV sites. And with there being literally hundreds of campsites there is usually a good chance that you can find one There is a river access and a day use area in the campground but they are a little challenging to get to.

    Clean and safe

There are few campgrounds with full hook-ups in the Edwardsville, IL area, so we were pleased to find this one. Yes, trains pass 2 blocks away several times nightly, but after the first night you won't notice. During modified car racing season, Friday nights are roaring loud from the racetrack nearby. This last stay in September 2020, we were surprised to see many full spots with residents living full time there. The playground and bounce pad and store were closed due to coronavirus, but the bathrooms and showers were open. Laundry is by appt. only. Not fancy, not quiet, but clean and safe. A bit pricey for the area, but as I said, not many choices there.

    Clean, Secure Overnight Park

Very clean and secure overnight park just outside of STL. Phenomenal views of downtown and the arch, and fairly easy access to I-55/64/70. Facilities lacked some amenities (only vending machines, convenience store has shut down), but clean, paved, level sites with full hookups throughout.

    St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park

    Easy access

I have to preface my review by saying that this isn’t my kind of campground. I like trees and nature around. This park had very little of that. It seems to be new, and there are trees planted, but it will be awhile before they provide any shade. I stopped here because it was the closest location to an RV repair shop that I unfortunately needed to visit on my way to Chicago.

On the plus side, because it’s new the restrooms/showers were very clean and modern. The site I was in had full hook ups. The water pressure was so strong that I could barely open the water pump!

I think the best thing this campground has going for it is it’s location. Proximity to historic St. Charles and the bike trail.

The park host mentioned that the rates would be going up for next season.

This is a small RV park just off I-44 about 20 minutes from Meramec Caverns. It’s very close to the highway so there is lots of highway noise. Some sites are farther away so not so bad. There is easy access from I-44.

30 & 50-Amp Electrical, Water & Sewer Hook-ups. Concrete pads. Bathroom/showers are clean. Pet friendly, coin laundry. Some pull thru sites. Adjacent to the Great American Flea Market on weekends if you like that stuff.

Worst experience thus far on our trip

If there was an option for a zero star review then I would put it as one.

Our experience with this rv park was horrible. We attempted to cancel our booking weeks before the booking date by emailing the email listed and received no reply whatsoever.

A week prior to the booking when we received the confirmation we sent another email that we wanted to cancel and received nothing again.

On the day of the booking we tried contacting them again, to no avail. At this point you would be able to tell how frustrated we were.

    ——-

Be very aware when booking this rv park, go to a KOA or a state park who actually care….

Great Restaurant Onsite; Friendly Customer Service; Tight Lots

My family and I are new to the RV World. We are currently renting a Class A Motorhome(33ft; double slide) and traveling to the 48 contiguous states. Our trip originated in Columbus, OH(our home), and we made our way to St. Louis for our second-night stay.

When we arrived, we checked-in at the office, and the customer service was amiable and accommodating. Our site was across from campground cabins where the occupants of the cabin street-parked their trucks. The campsites are so tight; we couldn't back-in and park. Fortunately, management was responsive to our needs and asked the cabin occupants to move. Sadly, our location was next door to smokers, which necessitated we keep our windows shut during our stay.

Full hook-up was relatively clean and easy to use. The campsite is off a hectic road, but we didn't mind as we only stayed one night(if you are looking to sleep under the stars surrounded by trees and squirrels, this place is not for you). The proximity to the Gateway Arch was terrific. We parked our RV, summoned an Uber, and were at the top of the arch in an hour!

Our favorite part of this park is the onsite Sawmill BBQ restaurant. While we prepare most of our meals, we were so tired; we decided to give the joint a try and, wow, are we glad we did! Delicious food for a reasonable price!

    Super crowded and heavily commercialized

I knew this was a resort heavily based on river activities, so I didn't come into this expecting a casual campground in the woods. But I was still surprised by just how jam-packed and crowded the entire place is, and excessively commercialized trying to sell you something everywhere you turn. The large number of sites with everything from primitive to full hookups is nice. But everything is like sitting on top of your neighbor. Yeah they did decent at keeping enough trees for shade on most of it, but most RV spots you've got like 6 to 7 feet between you and the next one and that's without slideouts. If you're visiting the area to do the canoeing, rafting, tubing, all those fun river activities, then this is a great place because they provided all in one spot. But for a relaxing family camping trip, I personally won't be returning to this site.

    Family fun but...

Our family has been going to this campground for decades and while they have certainly made improvements to the entire campground over the years the prices have gone up while the amenities that are included has went down. Especially when you consider that there are state parks that charge far less and don’t charge you extra for people on your site. It does have a lot of fun family activities like horseback riding, zip line, and float trips but of course all of those cost extra as you would expect. While almost all of the campsites have full hook ups the sites are mostly very close to each other. Overall I give the campground and average rating because there is still a lot of fun to be had here and for a private campground that they have made many improvements over the years but unfortunately almost everything their cost extra and the campsite prices are almost double of what you would pay anywhere else

    Pin Oak RV Park

    Old and shows wear

This is an older RV park and campground, and the age shows. We spent several nights here due to engine problems with our tow vehicle. The sites are level, and there is plenty of shade. (One advantage of being an older park.) But everything is just a little run down. The sites are gravel and close together do not much privacy. They come with water, sewer & electric. There is a pool (closed when we were there), playground, mini golf, a lake, game room, laundry and a small store with basics. The bathroom and showers were clean, but dated. Not all facilities were in working order. Two of 6 washers were out of service, one bathroom stall was out of order, pot holes in the road. There are also cabins, and RVs available to rent. There is quite a bit of traffic noise from I-44 and there are a lot of excess lights kept on all night long. The staff was friendly and check in was easy. Many of the sites are occupied be semi-permanent residents. They have internet, but it is weak and spotty. Saturday night they had a band making noise for 3 hours!
