          Vaiden Southbound Rest Area

          Noisy If Not in Back

I liked this rest area only because I was able to get one of the five or six spots behind the building by the picnic area. Back there it was nice and quiet and very peaceful. If you're not able to get one of those spots or are a big rig and have to park up front it is very Noisy.

They have security on-site 24/7 but they don't bother anyone unless you cause problems. The rule for overnights is 8 hours or until you are rested. So if you need more than 8 hours to rest up and be safe to drive you are welcome to take your time but if you are out of your vehicle and look like you're well rested they can ask you to move on. The guard I talked to said the absolute max time someone can stay is 24 hours.

They had basic vending machines and the bathrooms were decent. They had quite a bit of s0ace for walking pets but it wasn't very well lite. Cell signal was a bit spotty depending on where you were parked.

Flexible check in + convenient location but beware of AM lawnmower army

We were planning to stay a second night in a better location on the resevoir… so we moved to avoid the sound, fury and allergens of a half dozen lawn tractor mowers circling us. The management notified us that there would be a $20. Fee for changing spaces plus the fees for an additional night and were asked to return to our original site until check in time if we didn’t want to pay the additional 20 bucks.

We moved to the bathhouse, showered, hung out by the pool until check out time and departed for another campground.  Sometimes management treats guests  according to the rules of an HOA, versus the hospitality industry. It was kind of sad.

We did enjoy the site, the pool and the water views. We didn’t enjoy the sound of traffic and  grounds maintenance early in the morning. We might return one day, but much wiser, indeed.

Great location but advance reservation or booking on date u want to stay

We enjoyed our night at LeFleurs Bluff.  We were surrounded by giant RVs but it proved to be a very quiet respite in the middle of the city. Keep your check in code handy as it is necessary info when arriving or departing via the security gate. We hope to return one day and stay longer!

The previous night we tried to reserve a spot here online around 3 or 4pm. As this wasn’t possible on we found another campground in Ridgeland with a more flexible reservation system and a swimming pool! It was more like a gold course on the river than a camp ground but we were pleased to have options.

Great campground, tons of gnats, some traffic noise at night

We stayed here over Easter and had a great time. Trail was flooded out less than .5 miles in, which I heard can be typical of this time of year bc of reservoir they drain near there. Plenty of kayak access to all the lakes around. Gnats were so bad we had to stay in the tent to stay sane in the afternoon and most of the evening. They was one other group that tent camped for one night but otherwise everyone had RVs. If you go to tent camp call ahead before booking because some sites have the fire ring on the tent pad. I remember site 10 definitely does. It was packed but pretty much quiet the whole time except a lot of traffic. At night you hear the highway sometimes. Bathrooms are okay, washer and dryer work great.

Paved pull through sites are first come first serve. They seem to over lap and lots of folk share the sites. So you may need to back up to get out, even if it is pull through.
Flush toilets. Picnic area. Nice nature walk to a view, 1 mile each way.

          Dump Station!

This is a great place to dump your tanks. Only one problem and we expect it to be resolved soon. The charge is $5.00 but there is no one to pay! The sign claims you can pay in the park, the dump is outside the park, at the entrance or exit. Afterwards we continued to “in the park” to pay with our 53’ rig with car in tow. We looked for a place to pay we gave up and had to try to turn around running over the curb with Motorhome and car we thought we should just mail the fee. A BOX AT THE DUMP STATION SEAM TO BE A SIMPLE FIX.

          Lovely

Found this sweet campground traveling cross country. Quiet, large level concrete pad, 30 & 50 amp, water, dump station, $35 after tax. Even tho it was in town,. It was so quiet you could hear the birds on the pond. Gravel road entrance is decent. Only drawback was the burn ban.

We will definitely come back to this campground. When you come to the campground , nightly rentals are first come first serve. You drive back and pick your available spot and go back to the office to pay. We were lucky to get a beautiful water spot this time. It’s clean and spots are a concrete pad. Right outside the campground is a Kroger across the street. It’s convenient to lots of things but tucked away as a quiet getaway.

We wanted to be near Jackson, Ms, but not too near. This fits the bill. Lot of trees, very small and private - only 15 sites, most were empty. Clean bathrooms and great showers. Drive thru sites mostly. Sites have 30 amps(not sure about 50), water and sewer. Good 5G connection on AT&T

          Nice little campground

Park is right near Jackson, but you can’t even tell while you’re there. We were originally assigned site 2 after providing the office with the size of our rig, but found that it was much smaller than expected when we arrived. Site 2 would be good for up to a 26 footer, but not much larger. The office folks were very accommodating and we ended up staying at site 10 and it was great! Not too close to any other site, faces the water but not right on the water. Also very close to the facilities but I can’t give a review since we didn’t use them. Thunderstorm came through our second night there, dumped a metric ass ton of rain but all trails and roads were just fine the next morning. The only big con I have for site 10 is that one of the benches for the picnic table was missing/broken. Benches are cement base with a wooden seat and looks like someone not so great at backing their rig may have taken the bench out. Only thing left of it is two cement pillars with some rebar sticking out - bent over and not sharp so it doesn’t pose a safety hazard. We saw a small 5-6 foot gator in the lake on day one and fish are very active. Will definitely be back.

          Convenient to I55

We stayed here for one night as we were just passing through on a longer road trip. This was one of the better state park campgrounds in Mississippi that we have visited. The sites were clean and spacious. The ladies bathroom was a complete disaster though. It appears as it if hadn’t been cleaned in days and all the toilets were “full”. Gross! The dump station also smelled horrendous, so we just kept driving as we didn’t have much to dump. This would normally be a 3 star for me, but giving 4 stars compared to other MS State Parks north of this location.

This campground was amazing. Our site was right off the lake. The scenery was beautiful, it was quiet, the sites are pretty spread out. Camp sites 3-12 is where you want to be. There is a playground for kids, a boat dock if you have one, or you can just fish right off your site. The camp host was a very helpful and sweet man. We loved this campground and will definitely be back.
