    Magnolia Sands RV Park

    Magnolia Sands RV Park, Mississippi

What a great little RV park Magnolia Sands is!! Bridgett and Gary offer a rural setting in southeast Mississippi. 5 miles from Wiggins, Ms. Park has 20 sites with full hook-ups. $24 for 30 amp and $26 per night for 50 amp. Beautiful park amongst the trees with its own pond. Concrete pads are large enough to handle most “big rigs”. Open year round and monthly rates are available. The park is 40 miles north of Gulf Port and Biloxi so finding some Gulf beaches is easy. On site is a laundry, game room, meeting room and bathrooms with showers. Basketball and volleyball areas provide recreational entertainment. A strong WiFi network is available. The nearby town of Wiggins has everything you’ll need! Restaurants, grocery stores and fuel.

If you are looking for a quite, peaceful, no frills spot to stay… I highly recommend Magnolia Sands RV Park! We have already booked our stay to return in March.

Little Black Creek Campground & Park

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Hidden Gem — Can’t Believe I’d Never Heard of It!

We just spent the weekend at Little Black Creek Campground in Lumberton, MS, and it absolutely deserves a 5-star review. I live less than 2 hours away and honestly can’t believe I hadn’t discovered this place sooner — it’s a massive, beautifully wooded, and incredibly well-maintained hidden gem.

We stayed at a full hookup RV site and were blown away by how spacious, level, and private it was. Most sites had wooden decks, and many had lake views or direct access, including ours, which had stairs leading right down to the water and a picnic table on a platform. We didn’t see a single “bad” site in the whole park.

The lake is gorgeous, and swimming is allowed! They have kayaks, canoes, jon boats for rent, and even a bait shop onsite. There’s also fishing, hiking trails, disc golf (two full courses!), a general store, multiple bathhouses, and cute tiny cabin rentals for non-RV guests. They even have propane filling, golf cart rentals, and a dump station. It’s a great mix of peaceful nature and plenty to do.

The campground is huge and wooded, with tons of shade and a very peaceful, quiet, and family-friendly atmosphere. There are two beaches — one near the main camp side and another closer to long-term spots and day visitors. We brought our e-bikes and loved riding around the scenic roads and loops.

The bathhouses were older but very clean and air-conditioned, and we felt completely safe the entire time. There’s a gated entrance at night with code access, which is a nice extra touch. The store staff were super friendly and helpful, even giving us some history on the campground. The greeter at the front gate wasn’t the warmest, but that didn’t impact our stay at all.

There’s no Wi-Fi, but T-Mobile worked just enough for us to use a hotspot to stream TV at night. Cell service is limited but manageable.

It’s also very easy to find, just a few minutes off the main road with a gas station and small town nearby, and only about 30 minutes from Hattiesburg.

We will 100% be back and have already told several friends about it. If you’re looking for a peaceful, activity-filled campground that’s off the radar but worth every mile, Little Black Creek is it. Truly one of the best surprises we’ve had camping!

Paul B. Johnson State Park Campground

    Pleasantly surprised

We had the good fortune of finding this gem as an overnight waypoint on a recent trip to Florida. We found an asphalt pad with full hookups overlooking Lake Geiger for our Sprinter Camper van. Friendly staff. Good value. Primitive sites were still closed. The park features the Lake set in a tall pine forest and was near capacity but did not feel crowded or loud. We were only sorry that we did not budget enough time to enjoy all this place has to offer. We will not make that mistake next time!

    Clarkco State Park Campground

    Clarkco State Park

Great stay! Beautiful park with many amenities. Have premium sites with 50/30 amp sewer and water. Have lake front sites, pavilions, cabins, and “glamping” tent sites. There is also two roped off swimming areas in lake, playgrounds, and boat ramp. Facilities are well maintained. Very impressed and will stay again.

    Big Creek Water Park

    Great overnight stay

Located between Collins & Laurel MS. Camped here in a camper van while visiting relatives in Laurel. Most sites accommodate big rigs, but there are a few tent sites as well. Popular campground; recommend reservations. We didn't have a reservation, but we were able to camp in site 18. Most sites are large with good separation between them. Wooded, but almost no privacy between sites. Quiet, secure. Good folks running it. We'll maintained grounds. The restroom/shower house was clean. There is a laundry room. Beach at lake. Folks fishing at lake. AT&T service okay. T-Mobile weaker.

    Turkey Fork Rec Area

    De Soto National Forest

This is a nice little fishing-focused area within the northern part of large national forest. The large lake has swimming, fishing, and boating so plan to be on the water all day. There is a nice shady area along the lake with picnic tables and grills. The hiking trail is very short. We spent half a day here relaxing while on a road trip and the mellow atmosphere was just perfect. Convenient to and from Hattiesburg/rt 59 as well as from Mobile.

Yay: Campground is nice and shady and all the sites are close to the water. Clean with basic facilities. Simple but nice nature setting. Close to trails in the national forest.

Nay: No complaints, but if you don’t have a boat there’s not much to do on site.

Surprise: They stock the lake with fish. Loved walking out onto the pier.

    Lake Perry Campground

    Fishing, Fishing, and Fishing

Lake Perry, Beaumont, MS: We stopped for an overnight stay. Worked fine. Most sites have an unhindered view of the lake. Currently, the fallen brown leaves and leafless deciduous trees do not make this campground inviting. I imagine the scenery is much more attractive in spring and into fall. However ,must be gorgeous those two times of year. This is a very old campground. Facilities are old. To Do: Fish and fish. The host, Joey, will go out of his way for you. (Scale 1- bad, 5-Very good

(70 yr olds in 17’ trailer) Overall Rating: 3.5 Price 2023: $ 15 for seniors. Security: No gate Usage during visit: 10% Site Privacy: None Site Spacing: A few sites are closer than desirable. Most are okay. Site surface: Concrete Reservations: First-come, first-serve Campground Noise: Quiet, but one site did not try to control their dachshund’s barking. I hope this isn’t indicative of usual behavior. Road Noise: None Through Traffic in campground: No Electric Hookup: Yes Sewer Hookup: No Dump Station: No Potable Water Available: At site Bathroom: Flush. Very old, but Showers: Very ugly Pull Throughs: No Cell Service (AT&T): Okay Setting: View of lake. Host: Yes Rig Size: A large 5 th wheel had to leave as there was not a site large enough. Our site, #1, was the only site the trailer would have fit.

Little Black Creek Campground & Park

    Peace and Tranquility

Seriously one of the more relaxing parks we've been to in a while. Plenty of space between sites, lots of trees and water views! We were in site 4, which was quite level and easy to back in to. Also had full hookups!!! No loud golf carts this week either! Our site was around 35 dollars a night with taxes. Family and pet friendly.

    quick overnight

Was alright for a quick overnight. Really needs some better maintenance and cleaning especially restrooms. Some “long term” RVs set up, pretty quiet though. Price increased to $25.
