Lake Perry Campground

Mississippi's 16th Section Public School Trust Lands encompass Lake Perry Campground, a small facility managed by the Mississippi Forestry Commission that draws campers seeking lakefront access without the crowds of larger destinations. The campground contains roughly 10 sites, with concrete pads and hookups for water and electric, though space constraints make it challenging for larger RVs over 30 feet.

Most sites face the lake directly, providing unobstructed water views from camp chairs and RV windows. Roger W. notes that "most sites have an unhindered view of the lake," though he observed the scenery varies dramatically by season, with bare deciduous trees creating a stark winter landscape that transforms completely during warmer months. The campground operates on a first-come, first-serve basis, and several long-term campers occupy premium lakefront spots during peak periods.

Fishing dominates recreational activities, with the small lake supporting regular angling from the shoreline and by boat. A short nature trail extends roughly half a mile through the surrounding forest, offering a quick leg-stretching option between fishing sessions. The facility includes older but functional restrooms with hot showers, though multiple reviewers describe them as dated. A dump station serves RV campers, and the campground allows pets throughout.

Access proves straightforward via paved roads, with the town of Beaumont located just under three miles away for supplies and dining. Senior campers pay $15 per night, while standard rates reach $22. Cell service through major carriers works adequately for basic communication. The on-site host, Joey, receives consistent praise for helpfulness and local knowledge. For campers wanting more extensive amenities, Fulmer's Farmstead and General Store provides additional services nine miles north.

A small lakeside campground with beautiful views and helpful host Joey that offers great value. Facilities are old but functional, and space is limited for larger RVs.

Nice quiet place to stay

I was looking for somewhere on the way back to Mobile and saw this on the app. There were plenty of spaces and great pricing for seniors $22 per night or $360 for 30 days. The town is quite close and has everything needed. I’d recommend this facility if you need somewhere quiet.

Overnighter

Nice small campground. The shower was clean yet dated. Had multiple sites with the lake view. Many of the campsite have campers that are staying the maximum stay. So some of the premium site are occupied by them.

Older campground/lakeside camping

We just drove in hoping that there was a suitable site for a 30’ motorhome available. There were 3. The campground is more suitable for tents and small trailers. The cost for a site with electric was $15.00 for a senior. $22.00 normally. Joey, the attendant, was so helpful and very knowledgeable. There is a dump. Will come back.

Fishing, Fishing, and Fishing

Lake Perry, Beaumont, MS: We stopped for an overnight stay. Worked fine. Most sites have an unhindered view of the lake. Currently, the fallen brown leaves and leafless deciduous trees do not make this campground inviting. I imagine the scenery is much more attractive in spring and into fall. However ,must be gorgeous those two times of year. This is a very old campground. Facilities are old. To Do: Fish and fish. The host, Joey, will go out of his way for you. (Scale 1- bad, 5-Very good

(70 yr olds in 17’ trailer) Overall Rating: 3.5 Price 2023: $ 15 for seniors. Security: No gate Usage during visit: 10% Site Privacy: None Site Spacing: A few sites are closer than desirable. Most are okay. Site surface: Concrete Reservations: First-come, first-serve Campground Noise: Quiet, but one site did not try to control their dachshund’s barking. I hope this isn’t indicative of usual behavior. Road Noise: None Through Traffic in campground: No Electric Hookup: Yes Sewer Hookup: No Dump Station: No Potable Water Available: At site Bathroom: Flush. Very old, but Showers: Very ugly Pull Throughs: No Cell Service (AT&T): Okay Setting: View of lake. Host: Yes Rig Size: A large 5 th wheel had to leave as there was not a site large enough. Our site, #1, was the only site the trailer would have fit.

Pleasant Surpise

Started out the day looking for a different place in De Soto National Forest, but got lost and found this campground. Was very surprised at how clean and neat the areas were. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The trail was a short .5 mile nature walk, but beautiful and relaxing. All around, a hidden gem.

Nice campground

Bathroom, shower, trail. What more do you need. I wanted to checkout the trail but the rain kept coming but at least it was warm 65°. Nice place to stop on my journey east. Not too many people on a Wednesday night in February.

Lake Perry

Nice camp spot to spend the night. Came in July, not to crowded and had showers.

Cute little campground

This is the furthest campground northeast in the forest/park, making it as far away from New Orleans as possible...which is nice for minimizing crowds. Perfect base camp for traveling deep into DeSoto National Forest while still being close enough to civilization (quaint Beaumont!).

Yay: Campground has everything you want (hot showers, electric) while still being rustic. Most of the sites are right along the little lake so we fell asleep in our tent to the sound of water.

Surprise: my phone interpreted “Lake Perry” as “Perry Lake” which is in Kansas!! Luckily we caught on quick lol! We enjoyed Black Creek Trail and kayaking.

Quiet campground with great water access

This campground only has 10 or so sites and could be tricky with large rigs. But if you're able to get in it's great. Very quiet with beautiful views from most sites. If you want to relax on a nice lake and fish or kayak this is the place. Oh and at $13 per night with water and electric you can afford to stay awhile.
