Several RV parks and resorts surround the Brookhaven area with full hookup capabilities for traveling motorhomes. Lake Lincoln State Park Campground in Wesson provides water, electric, and sewer connections with 50-amp service available for larger rigs. Hidden Springs RV Resort features 105 sites open year-round with both 30 and 50-amp electrical options on predominantly drive-in access roads. "The sites were large and very level," noted one visitor about Paradise Ranch RV Resort, which offers concrete pads at premium locations near their lagoon while standard sites have gravel surfaces with grass areas alongside. Percy Quin State Park accommodates big rigs with 50-amp hookups and features both water and sewer connections.

Advance reservations are recommended for most parks in the region, especially during holiday weekends when occupancy rates climb significantly. Full-service dump stations are available at Lake Lincoln, Hidden Springs, and Paradise Ranch resorts for convenient waste disposal. Cell service varies considerably throughout the area—AT&T coverage reported as excellent at Paradise Ranch with speeds reaching 298 Mbps down, while Verizon users may experience limited connectivity with only 1 bar in some locations. Pet owners will find accommodations at nearly all area RV parks, though specific restrictions may apply. Pull-through sites are limited at Clear Springs Recreation Area but more abundant at Wendy Oaks RV Resort, which one reviewer described as "a great RV park" with large, clean shower facilities despite proximity to highway noise.

Small Diamond in the Rough Campground

We hit the jackpot with this small diamond in the rough campground right outside of Jackson. If you find yourself passing through Jackson, this is an excellent place to stop. This resort is beautiful and peaceful with the friendliness people around. The owner greets every visitor personally, showing you to your site, and making sure you have everything you need for the best stay possible. I can’t say enough about their hospitality. My only regret is not being able to stay longer! This was our second stop on our roadtrip from Dallas to Disney. Read the entire story at ChampagneOnDeck.com

      Clear Springs Recreation Area

      Nice family campground

$20, $13 with fed pass. 22 sites. Electric & water hookups. Dump station. Two campground loops - B: Sites 1-12, & A: Sites 13-22. Loop A is prettier that Loop B, but Loop B has more level sites which may be more suitable for larger campers. Camped at site 7 in a camper van. Large site backed against the woods with access to a hiking trail. Not much privacy between sites. Nice family campground. Sites have table, lantern post & fire ring. Picnic Area also in this rec area. Beautiful setting by the lake. Restroom/shower house needs some work. Mens shower stalls have standing water in them - possible drainage issue. Women's toilet stalls also have a similar issue due to a leaky toilet. Bugs were not too bad here in April. No AT&T & T-Mobile service at our campsite, but picked up a weak signal by the lake.

Natchez Trace Parkway - Rocky Springs

      Plenty of space for activities

10 to 15 spaces around a big loop in a wooded area. Little run down but the area was pretty. There were what appeared to be two long term "campers" also in the loop but no one else. Very quiet at night. Campfire ring, grill grate and old wooden picnic table. Mostly flat spots with a couple of pull through spots.

      Calling Panther Lake

      Calling Panther Lake Campground

We arrived around 8 pm. I am originally from the Crystal Springs area so expected bad roads, low hanging tree limbs ect... road wasn't great but also wasn't full of pot holes as I expected. There were no low hanging tree limbs, just keep your speed to about 35 and you'll be fine. This is quite possibly the hidden gem of my beloved State of Mississippi. Quiet, No WiFi, T-mobile worked in some locations. We had 35 OTA channels, not that we watched TV but it was available. Park has pull through and back in, level concrete pads with fire pit and table, 50/30/15 electric, water and sewer.

Natchez Trace Parkway - Rocky Springs

Looks like a very nice place

I drove through,  The sites are level, clean and about half a pull through.  Each site has a picnik bench fire pit.  However, I did not stay because it had absolutely no Tmobile cell service and being alone and full time.  I did not feel like camping without it.  I did fine another campground on the same road about 150 miles north east. which I stayed at.

      Lake Mary Crawford

      Quiet and simple

The road into the lake area is a little rough but it's only about a mile and a half from the highway to the lake so it's not bad.

Sites are first come first serve with an honor box, I think roughly 20 pads. $17/ night if you don't want to use electric, $22 if you do. I went without electric but each site has power and water. No sewer hookups but there is a dump station by the bath house. Bath house itself is functional but pretty rough. The lake was recently drained and renovated... I wish they could have extended the renovation to the park's facilities.

The concrete pads are not huge but they get the job done and I think they are all back in spots. When I camped there was a good size Class A on a spot by the lake. This was the only other site taken when I was here. You'll likely be on your own if you come during the week.

Overall beautiful lake and I hear the fishing is pretty good after the renovation and restocking. The campground meets my needs perfectly but it's far from "glamping."

Natchez Trace Parkway - Rocky Springs

all Trees, Quiet. A great place to stay overnight on the Natchez Trail

Nice primitive grounds with pull-through and back-in options. Gave a 1 in service because it is a first come first serve. It is a terrific spot to stop and sleep. We camped at Natchez Trace Parkway- Rocky Springs in a Fifth Wheel. Didnt get a chance to take photos, we arrived at dark and left early morning.

    Guide to Brookhaven

Brookhaven, Mississippi offers diverse camping opportunities within the pine forests and gentle hills of southwest Mississippi. The region typically receives 57 inches of annual rainfall with summer temperatures averaging in the upper 80s. Campgrounds near Brookhaven range from state parks to privately owned resorts, most situated along waterways that provide natural recreation options.

    What to do

Hiking trails: Clear Springs Recreation Area features 17 miles of interconnected hiking paths through the Homochitto National Forest. "There are excellent hiking/biking trails in 20+ miles winding through the area. The spring itself was very chilly and refreshing after a long day of adventuring," notes a camper at Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground.

Water activities: Strong River at DLo Water Park offers kayaking opportunities for all skill levels. "We kayaked the long leg of the Strong River from here. Excellent kayaking," shares one visitor at DLo Water Park. The park provides canoe rentals and shuttle service for float trips.

Wildlife viewing: Paradise Ranch RV Resort features free-roaming red stag deer and potbelly pigs that visitors can interact with. "Families abound! Clean and well organized. The welcome pig was a nice touch! And another morning watching him stroll by for his morning walk. You can feed the deer. They walk right up to you!"

    What campers like

Lake access: Lake Lincoln State Park provides waterfront camping with fishing opportunities. "We enjoyed fishing and kayaking on the lake. The campground is very scenic with lake views," explains a reviewer at Lake Lincoln State Park Campground.

Shaded sites: Wendy Oaks RV Resort offers well-shaded camping near an 8-acre lake. "Spacious park that's easy to navigate and get parked and set up. The grounds are peaceful and there's a little lake and looks like you could rent a kayak," writes a visitor. The resort includes free watercraft use for guests.

Swimming options: Clear Springs features a sandy swimming area divided for different skill levels. "There is a great lake that you can swim in," reports one camper. The spring-fed water stays cool even during hot Mississippi summers, making it a popular local spot.

    What you should know

Seasonal considerations: Heavy rainfall can affect camping conditions during spring and winter. "Had a night of rain and lightning when we stayed there! Camped on the hill passed the boat launch nice to hear the flowing water when the thunder died down."

Wildlife awareness: Snakes and other wildlife are common throughout the area. "There are a lot of poisonous snakes at this spot so be aware of your surroundings," cautions a DLo Water Park visitor. Some campgrounds have resident wildlife like deer and pigs.

Reservation requirements: Most private campgrounds near Brookhaven require advance booking, especially on weekends. "Book early!" advises a Paradise Ranch camper. Paradise Ranch RV Resort fills quickly during peak seasons and holidays with their family-oriented amenities.

    Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Paradise Ranch Resort caters specifically to families with children. "Paradise Ranch is a great family campground! It is the home to free roaming red stag deer and potbelly pigs. You can feed them all right from your campsite."

Safety precautions: Supervise children near water features. "The lake needs to be restocked," notes a Lake Lincoln visitor, suggesting fishing success varies. Designated swimming areas provide safer options than river access points.

Entertainment options: Wendy Oaks RV Resort offers family-friendly recreation on its private lake. "Such a nice RV Park. We stayed in spot #1 and had a beautiful view of the lake, nice fire pit and picnic table. Our kids and babies loved feeding the ducks and walking around the lake."

    Tips from RVers

Site selection: Choose sites based on your specific needs and rig size. "If you are with kids and/or in a tent then sites 1-12 are perfect. Also… not every site can handle a large rig," advises an RVer at Clear Springs Lake Rec Area NF Campground.

Leveling considerations: Many campgrounds in the hilly terrain require leveling equipment. "The sites were large and shady and level," reports a Percy Quin State Park visitor about their camping experience.

Access routes: Some campgrounds have specific access requirements. "Located on Highway 49 so easy access (be aware of the u-turn required when heading South on 49, there is a back road route if don't want to make u-turn)." Larger RVs should call ahead to confirm site suitability for rv camping near Brookhaven, Mississippi.
