We invite you to visit or stay in beautiful Old Orchard Campground, which is one of the largest campgrounds in Northeast Michigan. Located within the Huron-Manistee National Forest, along the River Road Scenic Byway, the park which is nearly four miles long, overlooks Foote Pond, which formed after the construction of Foote Dam in 1916, on the AuSable River. The park is open from March 15 thru November 30 each year, with plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities for all three seasons therein. We rented their pet-friendly cabin. It consists of a single room, two bunk beds, a table mounted to the wall, two chairs, a mini fridge, a microwave, coffee pot, a wall heater and a wall-mounted fan. Nothing fancy, but serviceable. There's a site with a picnic table, grill, and fire pit, connected to the cabin, as well as a decent sized front porch. Also nearby the dumping station, but this isn't as bad as it could be, at least during our midweek stays ((We've done two weekday stays.) There's a patch of grass across the drive, where puppy potty bags are dispensed, for easy bathroom breaks with the dogs, and it is also close to the campground host site and firewood vending machine. The firewood is really decent quality, and the machine accepts cards, which is nice, compared to other parks. The bathrooms/showers are a short walk away, and are really a lot nicer than most state park facilities. Several accessible/family restrooms are available, offering shower seats, benches, a dual height showerhead, sink, and toilet with grab bars, all in one lockable room. Several campsites are one the waterfront. As other's have mentioned, the beach is seeing some significant changes, due to historically high lake levels, which has forced several campsites to close, and the designated dog beach to be inaccessible. They have alleviated this by shifting the pet-friendly beach area to the site of the closed campsites. It is still an amazingly beautiful place to just sit in awe of the beauty of Lake Huron. There is a two mile nature trail that winds through the outer part of the park, and it supplied a great hike with our dogs. The park itself is within a reasonable walk to the local grocery store, utilizing a paved path that leads from the campground to the town. We just love it there. The only thing holding back from a five star is the beach area's struggles. But that doesn't even feel fair, because there's little that humans can do at this point, to change that.

I love going to the Halloween themed weekends with trick-or-treating at the campground. People decorate their sites, dress up, and hand out candy. Great campground filled with wonderful staff, a cute camp store, hiking and biking trails, wild berries, mini golf, a pool, and plenty of activities! Afforable, easy to find, and I’ll definitely be back.
One of my favorite parts is the outdoor cartoon theater. You sit on logs, blankets or camp chairs if you're in the back and watch cartoons on the big screen. It reminds me of the drive-in movie theaters. Sometimes, if you're lucky, you'll even run into Yogi Bear himself!
Tent, RV, Camper, Cabins and Cottage sites/rentals are available with bathrooms, showers, and a dump station.

Great campground if you’re going to tent or camp in the cabin. I had cabin #3, very beautiful on the lake. Wish they had a grate to cook some things, however I failed to bring my own. It made do with what I had. I walked around the park, seemed like the RV sites were packed and on top and right next to each other. Weather played out perfectly, service is a little choppy but it worked.
GuideThis campground has very nice amenities for families. There is a pool, outdoor movies, horseshoes, inflatable blob (kids love the blob), putt putt, sand box, small bikes to rent and a nice store and lodge on site.
We actually stayed here in a cabin to celebrate our anniversary. It is a nice campground with well spaced out sites. I would recommend the single room cabins, they are affordable and have a cute front porch - the bed was even comfortable.

This place was fantastic. We stayed in the Lakeside cabins. Amazing views! We went kayaking, mountain biking, hiking and fishing. The wildlife is plentiful and the lake is full of fish. The staff are fantastic. If we needed anything, they were there in minutes. Always courteous and friendly. Will definitely be back

We camped at Countryside Campground & Cabins several times last year and are headed back again this year. Countryside is the cleanest, most impeccably maintained campground I have ever visited. There are activities for the kids, a playground, heated pool, hiking/bike trail, and even a baseball field. The owners are super friendly and are always willing to help!

This was a pretty basic/nice KOA. We went second week of July and it was pretty empty, which was nice for us. There is a few things for kids/teens to play on, although half the arcade games were not working. The camp store had some really beautiful stuff to buy. If you go in a tent it's pretty affordable, the cabins are pricey though.
ScoutWe really enjoyed our stay. We brought our travel trailer and my brother and his family stayed in a cabin. Very well run campground with plenty for all of our kids to do. We were extremely impressed with the owners and all of their assistance and personal touches. We were told they just took over ownership of the campground last year and this is their 1st season as owners. We will definitely be back!

The Luzerne Express Campground is literally all you need in one spot. The whole place is incredibly accommodating. Friendly, helpful staff. There is an array of sites available plus RV’s and Cabins for rent so winter camping here is a blast. The area is a trail riders Mecca. From horseback riding to ATV’s. There are horse pens available at the campground for overnight horse camping as well at a very reasonable rate. Walk right off the campground into the Huron National Forest.

This is one of the smaller campgrounds in the Outdoor Adventures membership camping sites. The individual sites are relatively close together, with about half having full hookups, the others just have water and electric. There are cabins available for rent on site, but those are managed by a completely different company.
The campground has a great indoor pool, camp store, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. There is a great outdoor water slide that looked fun. A small lake has boats and kayaks for use by campers.

My wife and I stayed at the Oscoda/Tawas KOA for 7 nights in the first part of Sept 2021 at RV site # 10. The site was level and adequately spacious. The campground has a fabulous rec room for kids, although we had none with us, and an outside playground with a jungle gym and other amenities. There are also cabins that we did not see inside but that appear to be well appointed. The park staff are friendly and were very helpful at check in time and in giving us information about long term stays. They also provide accommodation for storing RVs for those who book for the season.

The campground is small, some in the pines and most sites are not. There are many walking trails and bike trails too. So much history to be shared and learned about through this area. The visitors building, and educational cabins are great to find out a lot about logging from so long ago. There are many more trails through the “logging area” within the park. Not too many large trees around here anymore but it is still an incredibly beautiful area. Everyone at camp was nice, especially the camp hosts. They kept us informed on activities around the campground and park. The town of Grayling is small and comfortable to visit. Many local artists, coffee, and a brewery. Plus a laundry mat that was easy to get to and average price.
TravelerThis is one of the worst campgrounds I have ever been to. The bathrooms and showers close at 10pm, and the restrooms themselves are nasty, the showers cost $2 (in quarters) for 6 minutes of lukewarm water, the locals are hostile to unfamiliar faces, and to top it off, the rental ATVs and dirt track to ride them on is o ly separated from the campsites by a board fence, so expect to hear all kinds of small engines zipping by at all hours. The RV trailers for rental are all used trailers circa 1995 and "refurbished", which entails a quick coat of interior paint and laminate flooring screwed to the floors with drywall screws. Guests who have rented the RV trailers are instructed to not use the showers in their trailers. Absolutely not worth the money, would rate 0 stars if I could. If you are looking for a camping experience that puts you in the heart of upper Michigan redneck territory, this is the place for you. If you want a good experience, look elsewhere.

By far this is our favorite park this year. Surrounded by water on all sides, sunrise and sunsets are gorgeous. Plenary of beach for everyone including a dog beach!!! Bathrooms are well kept and clean. Kayak rentals are available as well.

Our RV GPS brought us right to the golf course where you check in both for the campground(CG) and resort lodging, which is made up of a lodge and cabins. Check-in was easy and we were escorted to pull through site 7, which we chose for our second stay because of the course view. The sites are decently spaced in this small CG. There are cable connections but they do not have cable anymore, but you do get a decent variety of OTA channels. There are some trees, but you can also get a clear shot of the sky for satellite. We got a solid two bars on Verizon and were able to connect to the internet using our MiFi. There are no restroom facilities in the CG but all the sites are FHU. We’d stayed here two years ago when COVID restrictions severely limited activities. We noticed that the restaurant and the elk ride dinners were back up and running. One drawback is that they do not allow you to take a golf cart back to the CG that’s about 100 yards from the clubhouse to pick up and return your clubs. The resort does not have a playground and there’s not much to do for small kids, which is a plus for us. We again enjoyed our short stay, especially playing this fun and challenging golf course.

The stuff we got from the office was so wet I had to break out the stove (the horror!). Also, when you leave, stop in Glennie to the Chat and Chew!

The water areas range from nice sandy beaches to more marshy but scenic beaches, great for dog walking and enjoying birdwatching and sunsets! The state park itself is near East Tawas which has all the comforts of a town and activities and rentals for the lake!

First time there. Compared to other state parks in other states this was very packed with mainly RV’s. The lake is pretty but goes from waist high to bottomless blue with lots of boats speeding past. So expect to swim with eyes in the back of your head. Despite this, it had a chill and relaxing vibe. No bugs when we were there. Nice shop near the day use area with rentals. For what it was and the number of people, it’s nice. It’s not wilderness but it is rural.

This is a very pretty and well maintained family oriented State Park Campground that's situated on the southern shores of Lake Otsego. About 10 minutes from Gaylord. The lake has that touristy up north lake vibe. Campground is heavily used Memorial day through Labor day. No issues getting a data signal for my phone (T-mobile 5G).
If you're looking to get away from people, this isn't the campground for you. I personally prefer a more of a rustic, the less people the better, type campgrounds.
ScoutWe stayed in the small cabin #186 which is right across from the park hosts. The first night we were there we were sitting around our campfire - it was around 10:45 pm. It was myself (grandma) my 24 year old son and my five year old grandson. We were talking normally or slightly quieter because the campground has a 10 pm quiet curfew. Out of nowhere, a guy comes storming up to our campfire with a flashlight in our faces - scared the crap out of all of us - I instinctively said who are you and why are you coming at us?! He said we were way too loud and that he could hear us 4 or five sites down - I had to ask him if he was an employee because I was about ready to call for help. He said he was an employee and again repeated he could hear us from “way down there” pointing in some direction I had no idea because it was so dark out. I walked one site over and asked my son to say something and I absolutely could not hear him. I was so mad we almost backed up and left. The next day the Park Hosts who sit outside all day had another employee come warn us about chopping tree limbs down? I was flabbergasted. We collected some kindle/branches that were ON THE GROUND. When I addressed with the Park Hosts they lied and said they had no idea why we were told this. We saw the employee later and she said the park hosts told her we were cutting branches - and to come tell us to stop. It was the most bizarre experience I have yet to have camping and I have camped a lot - I read a google review from 4 days before our visit that said the same exact thing. Avoid this park - we left early needless to say.

The outer rim campsites of Ranch Rustic are along the Rifle and shielded from the next site by conifer and brush, so there is a fair amount of visual privacy...but voices carry from site to site.
Having a site directly on the river offered quick access to water, for cooking or playing. We could put in up river and take out at our campsite, which was convenient. Modern bathrooms can be located in the park...but Ranch Rustic has pit latrines. Pump water is available too.
The kids tossed on their PFD's and floated the river from the bridge to our site. You could hear them having a great time...other than their run in with a territorial beaver.
One of the greatest beauties and draws of this area is the five lakes within the Recreation Area...Devoe Lake, Grebe Lake, Jewitt Lake, Grousehaven Lake and Lodge Lake. Each is unique, offering different sights and sounds. We were fortunate enough to see mink, beaver, muskrat, loons, eagle, osprey and three swan...so it was a treasure trove for us.
We could drag or carry our canoes/kayaks from lake to lake with the exception of Grebe Lake and Jewitt. So we simply tossed them on the van and went to our next destination.
There is a really nice observation tower and fishing pier on Grebe Lake. You can't keep the bluegills and sunfish off your hook. We enjoyed mystic fog on Grebe Lake one early morning which provided some great photo opportunities.
The water is super clean and crystal clear...and usually sand or rock bottom. Devoe Lake has a few islands that we explored. We spent all week in solitude until the weekend, when it swells to its limit....and when we usually say good-bye and move on.
Shoulder seasons would be incredible, especially with the color change.
GuideWithout a doubt this is one of our favorite campgrounds. It's a bit older, so the campsites are quite large compared to modern campgrounds. There are huge trees throughout, easily navigable roads, etc. There are two sections to the park, one a bit smaller with a gorgeous new bathroom. The other larger section has older facilities, but clean. There are a couple beaches here, some more popular than others. Since there is a boat launch, kayak rentals, and small café at this state park, it can get busy in the public area during the summer. The campground is along a paved bike path. It's not far from the closest town, which has a couple restaurants, shops, etc. The only drawback to this park is that it abuts a very busy road and can have a fair amount of road noise if you're on that side.
