Across the Easton, Massachusetts region, cabin campgrounds range from rustic shelters to fully-equipped accommodations with electricity, indoor plumbing, and comfortable furnishings. Normandy Farms Campground offers cabin camping with electricity, indoor plumbing, and comfortable furnishings. Ponkapoag Camp provides more basic cabin options in a wooded setting without electric hookups or running water. Most cabin sites include outdoor fire pits with cooking grates, picnic tables, and proximity to communal bathroom facilities. Beds typically feature mattresses, though configurations vary from bunk-style arrangements to queen beds. "The yurts on Peddocks are great, providing shelter from the elements, bunks with mattresses, electricity, a ceiling fan, table with benches, and a grill," noted one visitor.

Boston/Cape Cod KOA provides family-friendly cabin rentals with electricity, heating, and cable TV connections. Rustic cabins at places like Canoe River Campground offer fewer amenities but greater privacy. Reservations should be made well in advance, especially for summer months when most facilities operate at capacity. While some locations like Ponkapoag Camp remain open year-round, others like Pinewood Lodge Campground only operate from May through October. Pet policies vary significantly between locations, with many allowing dogs for an additional fee. A recent review mentioned, "Site with patio was great. Had a gas grill, table and chairs, a glider and fire pit."

Most cabin rentals include basic furniture and beds but require guests to bring their own linens, pillows, and towels. Kitchen facilities vary widely—from simple fire rings to electric cooktops and refrigerators in premium units. Some cabins at Thousand Trails Gateway to Cape Cod include microwaves and coffee makers. Campers should plan to bring cooking utensils, dishwashing supplies, and food storage containers. On-site camp stores at larger facilities like Normandy Farms and Boston/Cape Cod KOA stock basic groceries, firewood, and camping supplies. One camper shared, "The camp store is well stocked, including fire wood, and staying here you are close to all of the quaint towns whether by car, bike rental, or the island bus line."

      Spacious Skies Minute Man

Probably great, if you're looking to enterain kids.

Let me just preface this review by saying when I go camping, I like to be immersed in nature– ideally with a toilet and shower nearby. These are my only desires. This is not that kind of campsite. But just because it isn’t for me, that doesn’t mean it won’t be for you.

      Pros:

      - Easy to book and accommodating staff.

      - Restrooms/showers were clean(though the air fresheners are not migraine sufferer-friendly).

      - Nice, tall trees.

      Cons:

      - My only real con is the general vibe. Again, it’s just not for me. It has lots of activities for kids (an arcade, park, pool, etc.), so if that’s what you’re looking for, great!  It just wasn’t what I personally was looking for.  But with limited camping options in the area, it was our only real choice.

      Normandy Farms Campground

      Best Campground in the Northeast!

I can understand why this place is rated one of the best campgrounds in the country. This was my first time camping here with my own RV and it did not disappoint. Our site was spacious, and centrally located within the campground, they have all the amenities you can imagine living up to that “resort” title. Ranging from multiple pools, hot tubs, courts, pavilions, playgrounds, etc. the cell service was great, they offer WiFi, and much more. I love the store, it gives off that Great Wolf Lodge feel, and it has everything inside you may need. Including a little hidden café that surprisingly made good lattes. This place is massive, and I’ve never seen a campground that had as many million dollar RV’s in one place. That atmosphere is just great here. There is so much to do. It’s so big you need an e-bike just to get around. Resort-style campgrounds like this come at a steeper price compared to others, but in my opinion, Normandy was well worth the cost. We look forward to revisiting, often!

Lorraine Park Campground — Harold Parker State Forest

      Lorraine Campground

What a gem of a campground. The park staff are very helpful and friendly. The facilities: bathrooms, showers, dump station and trash receptacles are spotless. They offer nature oriented fun activities for all ages! And they even have playgrounds for the littles to play on. The sites are are mixed use, offering tent only, RV with electric, and group sites. They also have yurts that can rented, which come with a full size bed and bunk beds.

      Normandy Farms Campground

      Lovely and peaceful

We came in the day after Labor Day ~ after 280 rv’s checked out ~ so it may not have been as peaceful over the weekend, but I heard everyone had lots of fun. The grounds are beautiful!

      Amazing camping time

I recently spent 5 days here camping with my dog and my family and we enjoyed it immensely! The staff was all extremely kind, helpful, and they worked hard to keep the campground clean. The bathrooms especially wete always clean. Its nice to be able to be comfortably in the woods while also having other amenities within 15-20 minute driving to pick up things we forgot or a little adventure. The sites were huge and had plenty of space for all our stuff and were all extremely well maintained.

      Marthas Vineyard Family Campground

      Just like we remembered

Great family campground.  The place is very clean.  NIce to have both indoor and outdoor showers.  The store has plenty of useful items. Staff is friendly and helpful.  They have lots of activities and concerts for families.  The drive around in a golf cart in the evenings checking on campers and making sure everyone is abiding by the quiet hours. We stayed in a one room cabin with confortable beds.

      River Bend Campground

      Too close too old

We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and they did seem have alot going on. It was Christmas in July. There was a live band and a few food trucks. The campsites are onto of each. Way too close for us. The roads that lead to the sites are way to narrow. I tow a 27ft travel trailer and my tires were off the road on both sides. The campsite itself was nice. No complaints there. Pool was gross. Mini golf was horrible. All the wood was rotted. We won't be back.

Lorraine Park Campground — Harold Parker State Forest

      Stunning, quiet campground

We stayed at site 81, it was near the entrance and right on the pond! The sites were spacious, so it was easy to maneuver our 21 ft travel trailer. The camp bathrooms were across from our site, they weren’t terrible but could use a bit of cleaning!

    Guide to Easton

Camping cabins near Easton, Massachusetts offer varied terrain within a 30-mile radius, from coastal islands to inland forests at elevations ranging from sea level to 635 feet at Great Blue Hill. Most camping accommodations in this region don't provide linens or cooking equipment. Winter cabin rentals typically require reservations 3-6 months in advance, with significantly reduced availability from November through March.

    What to do

Explore island camping: 35 minutes from Easton, Boston Harbor Islands State Park Campground offers a unique overnight experience accessible only by ferry. "It's a beautiful island and has an old fort to explore as well as a lot of Rocky shoreline and trails. You can build bon fires and see gorgeous sunsets," explains one visitor. Transportation requires planning as "getting to the island was a bit of a hassle... We live in Boston and took all of our gear on the T to the harbor by the aquarium."

Fishing in secluded spots: George Washington State Campground provides excellent fishing opportunities within a 45-minute drive from Easton. "There is a nice beach for children. The water was warm and clean. You can kayak or canoe," notes one camper. The campground features multiple ponds and streams with native species, though some visitors mention "there is swimming at the lake but it looked way too dirty."

Attend outdoor concerts: Canoe River Campground serves as a strategic base for music lovers. Located about 20 minutes from Easton, one camper notes it's "pretty awesome if you're looking to see a show at the nearby Comcast center. It's cheap, quiet, and affordable and very close (maybe ten mins or less to the venue)." The campground offers basic amenities and easy access to performances at Xfinity Center.

    What campers like

Budget-friendly yurt options: Ponkapoag Camp provides affordable rustic accommodations within 25 minutes of Easton. "The camp is on a beautiful piece of wooded land surrounding a large pond/lake. There are about 25 rustic cabins, and a few tent sites dispersed throughout the camping area," explains one visitor. Campers appreciate the authentic experience: "It is rustic camping, no water or electricity and the bathroom is an outhouse and no showers."

Winter cabin availability: Unlike many seasonal operations, Ponkapoag Camp remains open year-round, offering a rare winter camping option. One visitor recommends "spending Friday & Saturday in one of the cabins (w/woodstove) is deal for a winter weekend adventure!" The camp provides rustic shelter when most other facilities close, with a camper noting "many cabins have wood stoves, which is great for the cooler parts of the year."

Clean, upgraded facilities: Pinewood Lodge Campground maintains high standards for their cabins and common areas. "Nice and quiet, here for a 3 night stay," reports one visitor, while another notes "hot showers were awesome (.25 cents per 3 minutes) and the stone fire pits were a hit." The cabin areas feature regular maintenance with a camper commenting, "Well kept. Very quiet and peaceful."

    What you should know

Quarter-operated showers: Many campgrounds in the Easton area charge for shower use. At Pinewood Lodge, "Hot showers were awesome (.25 cents per 3 minutes)," while other facilities like Shawme Crowell State Forest Campground have "showers and are undergoing some renovations." George Washington State Campground offers "new pay shower and bathrooms" according to visitors.

Dog policies vary dramatically: Restrictions on pets differ significantly between locations. At Pinewood Lodge, "there are signs posted No dogs allowed on the road to the beach or other areas in the campground, limits walking. There is a dog park, though." Shawme Crowell is described as "dog friendly," while Boston Harbor Islands strictly prohibits pets.

Winter access limitations: Many cabin facilities near Easton close seasonally. Ponkapoag Camp remains open year-round with woodstoves in many cabins. Pinewood Lodge operates "May 1 - Oct 30," while Canoe River Campground runs "Apr 15 - Oct 15." Boston Harbor Islands cabins are only accessible "June to Labor Day weekend."

    Tips for camping with families

Playgrounds access: When booking with children, select campgrounds with dedicated play areas. Shawme Crowell features "a playground while the first [area] does not. I would not recommend the first area if you have small children for this reason. The playground is being revamped and looks awesome so far."

Activity scheduling: Boston/Cape Cod KOA offers structured programs for different age groups. "The activities for kids is the draw for this campground for sure. My kids loved the train rides, movie night, flash light candy hunt, and arts and crafts," reports one family. Another visitor notes they "had good kids crafts" during their stay.

Swimming options: Ellis-Haven Family Campground provides supervised swimming areas with safety features. "Very nice beach on the pond, with lots of docks and rafts to swim out to. They also rent paddle boats," mentions one visitor. Families should note that water quality varies between locations, with some campers warning about murky conditions at certain sites.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: When camping with larger vehicles, choose premium sites for adequate space. At Boston/Cape Cod KOA, one RVer advises "I did not take my own advice and I booked a basic 30 amp fullhook up campsite and it was so tight that unfortunately I did not enjoy it as much as I wanted to...I'll pay the few extra dollars to have a bigger site it's so worth it."

Vehicle maintenance needs: Some campgrounds have environmental factors that can damage RVs. At Gateway to Cape Cod, "the trees can drop a lot of sap so be ready to wash your rig and vehicles as soon as you leave if it was a heavy sap time." Road conditions also vary, with some campgrounds having "roads in bad shape, especially the entrance."

Reservation windows: Most cabin rentals near Easton require advance planning. For premium sites during peak season, reservations should be made 6-12 months in advance. One visitor to Boston Harbor Islands notes "these sites book quickly, so you should try to book 7 months to the day in advance. That said, you can also look for last minute openings."
