Together we run a family campground that was established in 1965 and steward the land…we provide a place for people to come and relax, wander through the organic gardens, explore the beach and re-connect with themselves and others. My large family and I spent a week here. First, the campground is easy to find and making reservations is a snap! The owners are two of the greatest people I’ve met. They are more than friendly and accommodating. They work hard keeping the entire property neat including the bathhouse. Honestly, it’s the cleanest bathroom/shower house I’ve seen. There is a playground for kids and plenty of room at each site for them to play. My family and I agree, this place is incredible and you would be foolish to go elsewhere.

Camden Hills state park is in a great spot, close to town and has a waterfront access. If you have a bigger rv you’ll want to stay in the field sites in the front of the park. The higher you go the better for tenting it is as it gets more forested.
Nice state campground with tons of hiking trails right from the campground. We stayed in a non-hookup site for $38/night- very expensive but we wanted to stay in the area and enjoy the hiking trails. Most sites don’t have enough sun for solar, and those that do, are FHU sites. Go figure. We were in site #65, recommended to us by the ranger as having the most sun for our panels. 65 was nice because it was set apart from other sites, and kind of enclosed so it was nice for the dogs. But it’s in direct view of the dump station so if that bothers you don’t pick this site!
The drive up Mt Battie Rd was worth it for the views at the top. RVs are ok to drive on this road, and there’s RV parking at the top.
Showers are free, hot, and good pressure, but they are the creepiest campground showers, rusty and dark. Dump station and potable water are available.
There’s a little free library book exchange at the ranger station at the entrance. Verizon service was usable but very weak, ATT was better, and fine with the weboost. The campground offers wifi at $3 per day per connection, but we didn’t use it.
I am new to pulling a small camper, and staff was great helping me secure a site that was easy for me to back into, and beautiful. Staff and other campers answered some basic questions graciously. The grounds are well kept and the facilities were clean and inviting. The shop was amazingly well stocked.
I will definitely return!
We stayed in site # 31. It was a nice sized site and very shaded. We had water & electric and there is a dump station onsite. The had a problem with the water so we filled up at the Camden Fire station which was close to the campground. You can pay a few extra dollars for WI-FI it's worth it. The sites are not level yet in the hills they usually aren't. There is a section of campsites that are along the side of the office that have no shade. If you like sun those sites are for you.
The auto road was closed so we didn't get up to see Mount Battie. You could hike it yet my husband couldn't hike due to health issues. The day use area is across the street from the campground. It has some hiking trails and a nice place to just hang out.
The town of Camden is quaint and has shops and good places to eat. Traffic is bad yet worth it. If you like Thai food Long Grain is so good. You need a reservation or you won't get in. They were so busy they even quit taking to go orders. Some of the best Thai food I've ever had.
We drove to Searsport and went to a antique/nautical place to buy some lobster pot buoys nice little shop. We stopped at McLaughlins on the way back and had some dinner. It was ok. Lots of people said it was good yet pricey and just ok.
We found a great Mobil RV guy Chris Burbelo (207) 322-4526. We had issues several places we stayed and he came out & fixed it all. He fixed our slideout, a leveler, a window and the fridge. We went 2 months with our slide stuck in. He made our trip. Highly recommend him.
Camden Hills wouldn't be our first choice, but we were returning to Maine to retrieve our trailer after some truck trouble, and wanted something close to where we left the trailer. Sites were pretty picked out by the time I made plans. so I chose a "Medium" site and hoped for the best.
It was tricky getting our 20' trailer into site 13. I'm not the best trailer driver (long truck, short trailer) but I do get lucky from time to time. I backed the trailer in between the trees as a neighbor laughed, trying to avoid the culvert for the stream which would have been a disaster. The truck/trailer wouldn't fit, so once the trailer was parked and leveled, I "parallel parked" the truck to get it off the road.
I had a Falcon Guide to the Maine trails, and that, along with the park map, allowed us to do a nice loop of Mts. Battie and Megunticook. In order to not block the site, we packed up and asked to park in the "overflow" lot near the park shops.
Some of the turns in the roads were a little rough for bigger trailers, but we did okay. The dump station is further in the campground, so don't try to leave and miss it. Wifi seemed pretty strong but we kept turning it off. I didn't ask about how much it costs.
Camden was a nice town; parking was problematic. The campground is about 2 miles from town, so not close enough to walk. It seemed like there were a lot of portapotties around, but that could be due to the Mt. Battie auto road traffic. We didn't try the bathrooms or showers.
Try to do your homework regarding sites, and anyone with a trailer should try to get a large one.
This is a hidden gem. We really enjoyed this campground and the good people staying there. I would go back and stay longer next time.
We stayed 7 nights in site # 24. We had water & electric and there is a dump station onsite. Our site was waterfront we were right off the beach. The site was level and had some shade. If you have a small camper you can pull in forward and your door opens to the water. I couldn't pull in I had to back in yet having the dinette overlooking the lake was nice. Everyone was so nice and helpful. The lake has 26.5 miles perimeter and a maximum depth of 124'. We had loons come in close to our site. Saw an Eagle too.
We sat our chairs in the water and cooled down everyday and floated on our noodles. Great relaxing place.
The owners Shawn and Margaret do a nice job maintaining the campground and enjoy taking a dip at the swim beach like the rest of us.
There is a playground, a nice area to keep kayaks if your not on the water. There were adirondack chairs along the beach and the nice grassy area overlooking the lake. There are boat docks for smaller boats and some floating docks you can swim out to and enjoy.
There is a small store where the office is and a group bonfire pit every evening many of the people gather there.
There are some seasonal sites some are set up so nice.
They offer a pump out service twice a week which is nice.
The town of Ellsworth has everything you need. Walmart, home depot, the Global beverage store, laundry places, and best of all Martha's Diner. The best eggs benedict with ham. Shawn recommended it. Bangor isn't far either.
There is a vintage/antiques place called Relics that has great finds.
Dorr Lobster and seafood market serves lobster & crab rolls and sells fresh seafood. We bought some cooked, picked lobster meat and made lobster Alfredo for dinner. Very tasty!
Finn's Irish pub is good to. we had a good meal there it's on Main street. My husband had corned beef and cabbage I had Shepherds pie.
We found a great mobile Repairman that fixed our slide out while we were there. It broke the 2nd week of June and we couldn't find anyone to fix it. His name is Chris Burbelo his number is (207) 322-4526. He did a great job it was a cable slide and we'd had the motor & gear replaced before we left florida. It wasn't bolted to the wall correctly & it tore from the wall broke the chains and the cables all went slack. We spent 2 months with the slide stuck in. Chris works at a RV place in service and does side work on his spare time. He did several things for us and did a great job. Worth a million!

Sennebec Lake Campground provided a blend of relaxation and adventure for the kiddos and the campground's commitment to modern conveniences is evident, with amenities that bring together comfort and wilderness living. During our stay, remarkable service provided a seamless experience. We have a 35ft RV, and we faced no issues getting in and out of the property and the sites across the water were level, with no extra leveling needed.

Northeast Whitewater is a mix of guide service, moose viewing tours, whitewater rafting, and camping. The camping options are yurts and primitive tent camping. There are no RV/Van camping facilities. All camping is walk-in as you can’t drive to your site but most campsites and yurts are not too far away. There are six yurts all with varying configurations, sleeping anywhere from 1-2 people (with king sized bed) up to up to six people (with bunk beds). All yurts have electricity and come equipped with heaters and fans; in addition, pillows, bedding and linens are supplied. Depending on the particular yurt you choose, some have small refrigerators, table and chairs, and nightstands.
Tent sites are primitive with fire pits and picnic tables. The ground is level and cleared so there is no problem finding a place to put your tent. The sites are fairly close together so you will definitely hear and see your neighbor. There is no water or port-a-potties at camping sites. One bathhouse is located adjacent to the main building and there is a dish washing station located there as well. The bathhouse was clean when we visited (but we were not there during the busy summer season as there are many rafting trips and those customers share the same bathroom). The bathhouse is pretty far away from the camping area which is inconvenient when you have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night. All yurts and campsite have trash cans located at the site. Each site has a large fire pit and removable cooking grates are available. There are rustic log benches around the fire pits.
Yurts and campsites are located behind the main building/office but you still get some road noise as Route 6 is a heavily traveled road. As far as amenities, there is a volleyball net and corn holes. A covered pavilion is located between the campsites and the main building and has a few picnic tables underneath. The main building has a gift shop stocked with moose gifts, apparel, snacks, drinks, and an assortment of “camp stuff.” This is also where you can book a moose tour, rafting trip, or inflatable kayaks if you are feeling adventurous.
The campground is located between the towns of Monson and Greenville. The Monson General Store is a great little store with an assortment of grocery items and makes really good sandwiches and the nearby Lakeshore House Lodge and Pub has the most wonderful pot roast. Greenville has a larger grocery/trading post which has pretty much everything you need from shoes to lettuce. Hiking in the area is great! You can pick up the Appalachian Trail or head to Little Wilson Falls for a nice, wooded walk along a stream to a pretty waterfall. Borestone Mountain is nearby and provides amazing views.
As with all real estate, location, location ! The camp is well situated amongst many Maine towns all of which are worth a visit to. Camden is around 1 1/2 miles and is a nice place to spend a few hours walking around and enjoy New England. Booth Bay harbor is also a very nice town to visit along with Belfast.
The hiking trails at Camden are all excellent trails and going up to the summit of Mt. Beattie is worth the hike or if you ant there is the summit road with parking available.
From the summit are some spectacular views that shouldn’t be missed.
The sites aren’t all that level but they’re close. The bathrooms are somewhat dated but they were clean. The staff is very friendly and very helpful.
On the ocean. Kayaking available to see seals feeding. Fresh mountain air and live music. Plenty of fun for kids and activities for adults. Well maintained with free showers and all the amenities you need. Great playground.
Guests are very kind, quiet and respectful of others and of the campground. Everything was clean and in working order.
STAY AWAY.. FROM KOA/HOLDEN MAINE And here’s why.. we are avid campers and have been for 20 years.. never and I mean never have we ever been treated with this much disrespect.. Don’t only take my word for it, check the reviews, on Yelp, Facebook, hell just google“Chris Koa/Holden Maine“ for your self… 1st year fabulous… 2nd year.. we were going to buy the campsite, until my bank and accountant discovered, money laundering, and pocketing of over xxx,xxx, we backed out of the deal to not cause trouble for Chris and Lauren, but little did we know.. 3rd year..multiple harassing messages, dog issue(2lb yorkie)“off leash” we didn’t get a friendly reminder instead a“remove your dogs immediately“ granted we live 3.5 hours away. Noise complaint.. 10:10 pm he received multiple complaint..(none of which were ever true), that we were“ Obnoxiously loud”! And than finally get permanently kicked out for not paying a 35 dollar electric bill“on time” THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS, THEY ARE MEAN, the campsite is substandard, water smells like a bog don’t drink it.. the electrical grid can’t hold up.. internet is slightly better that dial up.. they will harass your children, yell at your grandparents.. Save your family the heartache, the money, the stress.. drive 15 miles further and you will be treated like royalty!!! Camp ground is failing… 1 year you couldn’t get a spot!! This year.. it is nearly Vacant… so his attitude and violent outbursts towards his paying customers… is why his campsite will be deserted in a couple of years.. HELP US SPREAD THE WORD!!
We really like the place. Hiking is good nearby, so are Camden, Belfast, Rockport and Rockland. No bike trails nearby and the bathrooms are dated, a bit old looking and maybe not as clean as they could be but not that bad. WiFi is $3 per device and not very fast but available.
Decided to go camping for our anniversary weekend the night before our visit. Very few sites open and some reviews weren’t great. Couldn’t be happier about this place. Very friendly people and amazing views.

We discovered this campsite in 2020 and just returned from our third year in a row camping here with 2 kids. We have only tented, but hope to bring a small camper next year. There is a small arcade, store, and 24/7 laundry. Bathrooms/showers are clean and not very busy as most guests are in RVs. Activities started up again this year, with events such as kids’ crafts, a kids vs adults water gun fight, cornhole competition, and a DJ for an evening of dancing - just on the weekend we were there. We love the proximity to the lake with easy access for kayaking and swimming. New ownership this year resulted in some updates, as well as the addition of glamping tents near the beach. The sites are a decent size and the campground is fairly quiet at night.
Our campsite was wonderful, with a view of the bay. Our truck broke down once we got there (luckily at our site and after we were all set up), and the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. We were up and running working 24hrs. It’s a quite, down-to-earth place. Kind of how campgrounds used to be.
Small campground with 36 RV and tent sites located just a couple of miles from downtown Greenville. The owners are very nice and helpful and are always busy working in the campground. The campground has lots of large trees and narrow roads which make it very difficult for big rigs. In fact, there was only one of two sites in the front section that would fit our 45’ motorhome. The back section of the park was way too tight for us to navigate.
Our site (#25) was a long pull thru that sloped down in the front and took a bit for us to get level and our front steps were pretty high off the ground. We had 50-amp electric which worked fine and a water hookup. Since we had a clear view to the sky, we were able to use our satellite television. Due to the campground’s location in a remote part of Maine, I’m sure our over-the-air antenna would not have worked. They did have wifi which worked great at out site. The tent sites are located off to themselves in a wooded area not too far from the bathrooms. The back section of the campground is heavily treed with nice amounts of shade. Most of the sites have good separation from the neighboring site and privacy. The fire pits have grates next to them so you can cook over the fire. There are garbage cans scattered about the campground which makes it easy to dump your trash. No sewer at any sites but there is a dump station and they offer a pump out service for$20. We contemplated using the dump station but the roads were so tight that it would have been difficult for us to pull into it and our RV would have scrapped lots of trees. There are apple trees everywhere in the campground. The owner said he does rake them but so apparently it was a banner year, so there were tons of apples which meant that you did get a smell from the rotting ones. The bathrooms were old and pretty nasty and we didn’t want to use the toilet, much less shower there. Despite having a pull thru site, we had to back out because we would have had to go thru the back part of the park and because of the low hanging trees without scraping our RV. Also, the turn into the campground from the main road (Route 6) is very tight and we ended up having to go into the other lane and take up the whole road in order to make the turn in.
We did like the proximity of this campground to downtown Greenville. The area is beautiful with great hiking, boating, and fishing. Just a short drive away is the east outlet of the Kennebec River which is renowned for its fly fishing. Some touristy things to do are a boat ride on the Katahdin (an old steam ship), ferry ride over to Mt. Kineo for hiking with a great view, and a drive out to the B-52 crash site.
Beautiful area. I question if I would like this spot. Its right off route 9. My spot was right next to road. I honest didn't notice road threw out the night. Water rentals kayaks etc were very reasonable. Staff was very nice. Staff treated you like you were friends not customers. Restrooms were clean. I witnessed staff checking on them several times. I would definitely come back to this location
Very friendly staff, very open to our changing plans. Nice peaceful lake view and access. Location was a good 45 min drive from Acadia National Park, longer than we anticipated. Drive got old after a couple days.
A magical place. This place is so much more than a beautiful campground nestled among gorgeous old growth trees located right on the shore. It’s also a treasure trove of arts of all kinds - fiber arts, metal sculptures, carvings, paintings, and music. We got lucky and stayed on a lovely weekend in September that featured a small, intimate festival and workshop of fiddlers, banjos, ukuleles, mandolins, and guitars jamming with old time and blue grass music. It’s also a place where people strike up friendly conversations, make friends, and enjoy interacting with Astrid and Steve the owners who jump into the arts, music, and other activities right alongside their guests. It’s also an organic garden with gorgeous flowers, heirloom tomatoes, beans, and cucumbers and a woof-burning pizza oven, fresh bread, homemade chowder, and the best scones in Maine. This place is magical and we would love to return - even for a full season. A new favorite special place.
