tent sites with no hookups to 220 Rv hookups....clean rest room/shower area recently remodeled. pay 6 nights & 7th free, NO reservations, closest private campground to Acadia NP

We decided to stay at Pumpkin Patch because we had friends staying at the campground and wanted to visit them. The park is nice and clean with just a few amenities but just an average campground. This campground caters more to adults and does not have too much for kids to do. Most of the campers were seasonals whose campsites were well-kept and they were quiet. The staff and other campers were very friendly. 

Sites are very clean and the park is well-groomed with maintenance people always mowing or cleaning sites. There is pretty good space between sites so you don’t feel cramped or right on top of your neighbor. Most sites are level and there are long pull thrus so you don’t have to unhitch if you are only staying one night. There is a mix of sun and shade depending on what site you are in. Our Verizon phone got good reception and our hot spot worked well. The campground wi-fi was decent at our site but that depends on where you are in the park and what time of day you are using it. There is a recreation room for rallies or large gatherings, a small outdoor game area, and a new dog exercise area which has water and toys and is long enough for our Labrador retriever to chase a ball. There are two laundry rooms which were very clean when we looked in. The roads in and out and around the park are wide and easy to maneuver around. 

Our site was a full hook-up pull thru which was perfect for our one-night stay. All the hook-ups were well-placed and we did not need extensions to connect. We received about twenty over-the-air channels with our television antenna. Nearby is shopping, a grocery, fuel stations, restaurants and more. 

You are about fifteen minutes to downtown Bangor which has some good restaurants(we like Timber Kitchen and Bar and Blaze), a casino, and a large outdoor concert venue which has big name musical acts throughout the summer. Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor are about an hour away and definitely worth a visit. We would stay here again if we were passing thru the area but can’t see that there is enough to do nearby to stay for a season. The price was decent for the area($46+tax/night) for a full hookup site but they also offer discounts for Good Sam/FMCA/military/Passport America and have better rates for weekly/monthly/seasonal stays.

Friendly, very clean and quiet. Beautiful sites with mostly hardwood trees. Laundry, showers and camp store. Sites are fairly large. Nice pond for swimming or boating. Close enough to drive to Mt Desert Island. Campground is set way back off the road so you get no road noise! Visit Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mtn, Fort Knox Observatory. Met an elderly couple who travel around the country to Thousand Trails Campgrounds who told us this is the best TT campground in the country. We love it, will be back.

We borrowed a friends motor home and pulled in here and immediately wanted to stay an extra day. Nice long term campers, incredibly clean bath house and the owners were so wonderful. I caught fire to said borrowed camper and everyone was so helpful and the fire department was quick to respond even knowing the fire was put out. They have two wading areas, playground, sand box, laundry and arcade as well as a general store for extras you may have forgotten.

The Moorings has beautiful ocean front sites( they book up fast). And almost all the other sites have partial ocean views as well. Please note they have upgraded the campground and now ALL sites are full hook up with 50 amp, water and sewer. We stayed here in a 40 foot Motorhome. Many sites (not all) can accomodate bigger rigs. This is a great location from which to explore Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and towns of Belfast, Rockland and Camden.

This campground is beautiful, in a great location and perfect for tent, camper van or very small trailer camping. 

We stayed on two sites due to the availability of the waterfront site we wanted.

The first night we were on site C29. This site was OK, it had water and electric, was level and easy to park a small camper on. The site also had a view of the ocean across the street and down the boat ramp. With that said, the site wasn't as private as others as it was on a corner

The next two nights we stayed on site B7. this site also had water and electric, the site was private and had a tent platform. There was a nice view of the water and direct water frontage, the water access was pretty steep so you probably wouldn't be launching a kayak or swimming from it, but probably could cast a fishing line if you wanted. Most of the waterfront sites can not accommodate a trailer so we lucked out with this site. It appears sites B5 and B6 could also accommodate a small trailer. 

As for the rest of the campground, it was very well maintained, bathrooms and showers were always clean, campers were quiet and respectful. 

The gathering spot is a good place to grab a coffee or pastry, I just wish they had a small camp store for supplies. 

Proximity to the main attractions at the park and Bar Harbor was also great.

Stayed here 5 nights backs up to winter harbor Sites are small but there are only 9 with full hook ups . If you’re looking for a quiet spot near Acadia park this is it . WiFi is not good but everything else makes up for it . I will go back for sure

My family and I stayed at this KOA this past week. It was agreat experience! That staff was awesome and over the top accommodating. We had a pull through site with full hook up right across from the on site Lobster Trap Cafe. The site was spacious and comfortable. The whole campground was neat and clean. Staff members pick up trash throughout the day at all of the sites. The Lobster Trap had a good menu, and great customer service. They are mainly open in the evenings but also appear to serve lunch and breakfast on the weekends. 

The camp store was well stocked also. There is also an island shuttle bus stop right at the entrance to the campground. There is a gas station and take out restaurant ( Island Take Out) right across from the entrance as well. There was a nice dog park as well. Cell service with AT&T was great. Cell service with T-Mobile was spotty. We did not try the campground wifi. The only down side to the trip was gnats and mosquitos, but that was all over the island and no fault of the KOA. This was one of the best KOA's we have visited and we will definitely stay there again when we visit Acadia.

We chose this location to visit Acadia, Bar Harbor, and the island. We reserved a full hook up (back in), and were directed by an employee to our site. We incurred damage to our vehicle relying on the eyes/directions of an employee. The sites are very close together, some are shaded, some not. Our sewer dump was 3 ft or less from the neighbors fire pit, spotty WiFi, tv antenna only grabbed 4 public access channels. Good water pressure. Playground and pool looked nice. Free shuttle service to Acadia and Bar Harbor available. It was quiet on the 4th if July, no fireworks in the campground. We would likely stay elsewhere if we visit the area again.

This is one of the best campgrounds we have visited in many years. This small campground opened in 2021 and has amazing waterfront views and nice full hook-up sites. Rob and Peggy are wonderful campground owners who are super engaging and friendly. They take lots of pride in the campground and have planned group events like lobster and oyster dinners, campfires and music, and are always available or answer your questions or provide information on the local area. Definitely check out their website which has an extensive amount of information about the campground and local activities. West Bay has a great online reservation system that lets you see what sites are available and pictures of each site so you can pick what works best for you. Sites range in price from$125-165/night depending on the season (with possible additional charges for electricity usage). There are 26 sites in this terraced campground all of which have full hook-up with a water view. Sites in the Woodlands Section(and#18) have nice tall trees for shade; whereas, the others are in full sun. Most sites have two sewer hook-ups which is convenient because hook ups vary depending on RV type. Roads and campsites are gravel and all sites are level. There is no cable but the Wi-Fi is so awesome that you are given free reign to stream, zoom, or surf without restrictions (in fact they pride themselves on their great Wi-Fi). We love the free community garden which has a wonderful selection of produce including strawberries, tomatillos, fresh herbs, beans, lettuces, etc. Feel free to pick whatever you will eat, just leave some for others. There is no bathhouse so all units must be self-contained. The campground is right on the water and there is a nice path leading to an overlook and down to the water which is tidal. 

There is a beautiful, cleared spot with a swing so you can enjoy the view and watch the tides (and seals come and go). They were super smart and put in an outdoor shower so you can rinse the salt water off. Rental kayaks and paddle boards are available, or you can bring your own and leave it down at the water's edge. Just make sure you paddle around high tide or else you will be slogging your watercraft through a soft mucky clam flat. Another great thing about this park is that it is a certified dark sky park. Campers are asked to turn outside lights off so there is no light noise to interfere with the beautiful sky full of stars, planets, and meteor showers. Recently added is a short nature trail and off leash dog park. 

The campground is approximately 45 minutes from downtown Bar Harbor and the main section of Acadia National Park. Just ten minutes away is the Schoodic Woods section of Acadia– a less busy and equally beautiful area of the National Park. Plus, there are many nearby nature preserves and public lands that have great hiking. There is a wonderful organic farm down the road and a couple of local wineries are nearby. The nearby town of Gouldsboro has a delicious little ice cream stand and the Pickled Wrinkle restaurant serves great food. Live lobster can be bought off the dock at the nearby town of Corea.

We've only been here a few days, but first impressions mean a lot. It was raining when we got here but our site was relatively level and qe were ok until things dried up and we could finish leveling.

Sites are spacious! Connections are well placed and in good repair. Most sites are pull-through. No huge hills, several trash dumpsters conveniently located and even a barrel for animal waste. Bath house conveniently located.

Campground has playground, pool and rec room. Offers activities - but mainly directed toward children.

Campground is quiet, except for the planes overhead as it is looking cated in the flight path for the local airport, but you soon tune this out.

Campground located about 5 miles from Bangor and about an hour from Northern entrance to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Lots to do and see!

Only real disappointment was lack of cell coverage for AT&T and if you want internet you must buy a package. Upside to purchased package - there are very little slow downs. Just be sure to only use the nimber of devices you purchased. We paid $69 for 3 devices for 30 days. Since this is our first time to do this, not sure if it is a good price or not.

This is a small privately owned campground located at the confluence of the Kennebec and the Wesserunsett Rivers just a few minutes from downtown Skowhegan. Campers are a mix of seasonals and transients with sites varying from pull-thru, back-in, tent and one rental cabin. 

We had a long pull-thru site that was located under pine trees which provided welcomed shade since the temperatures were in the high 80’s. The first site we were assigned was in the direct sun so we asked to move to a shady site and they were very accommodating. Some of the RV sites are located parallel to the river so your patio is open to the river and you have an unobstructed water view. However, these sites are fairly short and would not accommodate larger RVs. All other sites are pretty close to each other without much privacy between them. RV sites have cable with 70+ channels. There are a handful of tent sites at the far end of the campground set off on their own and right along the river. The only downside is that they are pretty far away from the bathrooms. The restrooms and laundry were spotless and cleaned daily. 

There is a small playground and a nice swimming pool which was clean and had lots of chairs around it for relaxing. There is a nice dock along the river where you can tie up boats and launch a kayak or canoe. One of the nice features is that they offer free use of their canoes/kayaks/peddle boats. You reserve a 2-hour time slot, and they provide you with the paddles and life jackets. There is a game room/arcade for kids to hang out in and there is a pavilion that is open to the public for gathering. One of the downsides is the loud road noise from Route 2. The other thing we didn’t like was that our patio was a mix and sand and dirt which made for a mess in the RV and not a great place for our dog to lay in. We paid$59/night for our full hook-up site which seems a little high for the area, but it was a full hookup site with cable and (pretty poor Wi-Fi). 

Overall, we liked this campground and it was a good three-night stay for us as we were traveling through Maine. Downtown is interesting with restored historic buildings housing antique shops, artisan galleries, and restaurants. There is a grist mill and restaurant located in an old jail that sells a wide variety of grains and other Maine-made products. We especially loved the Bankery which is a bakery located in an old bank. Just outside of town is Bigelow Brewery which we recommend visiting. There are a few nature preserves in the area that offer hiking if you are looking for a nice short walk in the woods.

This is private land that the owner rents to campers.  It is a lovely single camp site with great views and fields. It is relatively close to the road but there is very little traffic and no noise. The space is level.  There is a picnic table, fire ring, full hook ups, and box with an information sheet that includes things to do and places to eat for the surrounding area. The view was expansive and beautiful, with wonderful sunsets. The walking trails that have been cut are lovely, and a great place for a short walk, or to walk with your dog.  The owner met us immediately upon our arrival and was very friendly. The only challenge is we stayed in July, and the horse flys were viscous. They were not by the campsite, but were abundant on the trails, and I literally had to run to get back to the camper to minimize the bites. If you are susceptible to horse fly bites, be aware during the horse fly season. My husband did not get bit.

This area is very rural.  Skowhegan, which is just over 20 minutes away, is the closest town, and has a few restaurants and a nice farmers market.  There are many hiking  and atv trails in the general area.  I would recommend this spot for a weekend in the area, or passing through for the night.

We were tent camping. This place isn’t solid for tent camping. Too many sites, no privacy. But it was a big RV Park, close to Acadia, hot showers, playground with views of the bay. Not all bad.
