    Palmettos everywhere!

Basic state park camping Bonus is onsite laundry 50/30/20 amp service (you have to flip all the breakers for 20 amp service - strange). A couple good hardened trails. Also a canoe/kayak ‘trail’. Four remote tent camp sites that are far enough from camp sites to enjoy. Sites are on lake lafluer.

    March 2022

Five tenting Only sites. NO RV sites at this time. Cold outdoor showers available Tent sites are on a man made beach. Picnic table and grill for each site. New board walk almost complete. Picnic pavilion. No senior or other discounts for tent sites. In the off season you will not find anything open. Bring all that you’ll need. Feel it’s a little expensive compared to campgrounds with many more amenities, nicer bathrooms and hot showers. Birding is good. VERY quiet in off season. Locked gate and feels safe.

    Its Aight

Its an aight spot to escape the city and not far from Lafayette. I like the grills and covered areas on the beach with the picnic tables. I don't like all the thick black oily mulch like substance in the water, its like quicksand and hard to swim in. This is not a tent camping area so I'm not sure why its listed as such, tents arent allowed here. The entrance fee is cheap.

    Burn’s Point Park

One of our favorite parks to camp

Very reasonable rates, great fishing, Ken is very friendly and helpful.  The only thing that it lacks is water hookups on each tent site.  The new fishing pier is awesome!  Just make sure you check the weather to see if there are any coastal flooding warnings.  We weren't aware of this on our last trip and got flooded.  We know, now, to make sure to check before going, and absolutely will be back on a regular basis.  LOVE THIS PLACE!!!

    Away from civilization

A good camping state park and far away from civilization. Large sites very private.Good equipments. For being over 65, I had a rebate of 45$...! The closest town is Abbeville, a nice little town.

    Great State Park

Located south of Abbeville, LA, in a swampy region. They honor National Park Pass with half price sites. Water and electric adequate. No sewer. Washers and dryers available. Splash pad. Pavilions for rent. Educational program by rangers. They just upgraded 8 sites with sewage.

    Great for a few nights

Permit and sign-in/out required on Louisiana WMA website. Close to a boating launch that has a bathroom and water. The site has 3 picnic tables with plenty of room for tents or rvs. About 2 miles from town, with decent service. Beautiful sunsets over the fields.

    Crabbin' and Swimmin'

This campground is a Louisiana State Park located on Vermillion Bay In the Gulf of Mexico.

THERE ARE ONLY CABINS TO RENT, NO TENT OR RV CAMPING!

This park was very nice but small. There is a fishing pier / penninsula. There are 3 swimming beach areas (all connected but separate). Only beach 1 was usable today. There are bathrooms with outside showers to wash the salt water and sand off. The park Ranger was around and meeting people. The beach is man made and graded so it was clean. There are picnic tables, grills, covered areas, lots of trash cans throughout the park. There is a separate sailboat launch area and an overflow area for fishing.

The cabins are all grouped into one spot and have a private dock for fishing. They are located across from beach area 3 and the sailboat launch area.

We loved this park. Remember sunscreen, bug spray, camera, and…HAVE FUN, YOUR PLAYING IN THE GULF OF MEXICO.

    Nice park

Nice RV park in Louisiana. This park has mostly full timers and you slot will be small.

The grounds were wonderful for children. There were ponds, picnic tables, pool, playground, splash pad, train.

    Super Friendly staff

The first thing you encounter is the super friendly and helpful staff. The campground is level well maintained and a perfect spot to stop when traveling on I-10 in Louisiana. We will be back.

Lake Fausse Pointe State Park Campground

    Great for quick trip

We are a family that does alot of camping. My 11 year old calls State Parks camping for beginners. That said, we really enjoy the variety of parks we have in Louisiana for quick trips. Sometimes the forest beckons us and we don't have the time or resources to do the primitive thing. Lauke Fausse itself appears to be a very small park. What land there is to explore is beautiful. But people this is Louisiana, you are smack dab in the middle of wetlands so be prepared for damp, humid and buggy. Our biggest mistake was not providing enough time to get canoes.or kayaks. The large majority of this state park is water, which you are encouraged to explore. A large number of sites even have small docks. If you, like us, have friends who like to say the want to come camping but then panic when they can't find wifi, haha, your best bet is over by pavilions near old bird island. Available are premium sites, a couple TENTR sites, and apparently a site only accessible by canoe.

    Davis Roadside Park

    Great spot in Cajun Country!

This was a great little spot to spend a few days.  We had an amazing time watching the wildlife and enjoying the water in the middle of nowhere Louisiana.  There is a bar not too far away that we enjoyed meeting some locals at.  Our hotspots worked great here to have a productive work week too.  Be careful how you get here though!!  There is a low clearance bridge that takes you over the levee that there is no way an RV would clear.  Be sure to check maps/directions and plan accordingly!!

    Palmetto Island State Park Campground

    Decent Spot

It's a decent spot for being nearby to Lafayette. The thing I don't like is the expensive prices for State Parks in Louisiana and the closed gates that don't allow late night entrance. Small man made pond in the back, watched a kid catch a large bass a few years back. The primitive hike in spots are on the back side of the pond so you have to hike in about a mile to rent camp for cheaper than the price of the RV pull up spots. This is a newer state park and it has nice, clean, large facilities with showers and bathrooms. The trail is super short. Overall the park is very small. Fun spot for kayak fishing. Noticed lots of invasive apple snails.

    So many employees

So many employees yet the bathrooms were dirty and trash was on the ground. Many bbq stands were broken and tent pads under water. Otherwise, camp was good. Way off the beaten path, quiet, spacious, lots of water which means lots of mosquitoes. Camp host had pet off leash so rules are not followed. Great discounts for military.

CCU#4, unimproved canoe campsite #4, at Lake Fausse Point State Park, Louisiana

Nice primitive campsite on an island that you get to by boat (motor boat/canoe/kayak). Site is also known as Highland Waters campsite. Nice big flat area under trees including large live oaks to set up your tents or hammocks under. Has a fire ring, but no toilets, no water, no electrical. Does have a covered wooden table to serve as a rough kitchen kiosk. Wooden dock by waters edge also has a picnic table. Must call the state park to reserve this site.

    Wet

First of all, if your rig is over 10’ tall, don’t come in through Butte LaRose, there’s a bridge you won’t get across! Come in through Henderson. That being said, I wasn’t impressed. We were under the mistaken impression that they honored the Nat’l park pass and gave you 1/2 off the price. We paid a total of $36 which included the $6 online reservation fee even though we did not reserve online. We’ve never been charged this fee in any other park as a “walk in”. The men’s bathroom and shower was closed but they had a portable one set up with one shower which was in the handicapped toilet stall and only one other toilet stall and one urinal. Needless to say, you hand to wait in line even though there were only about 10 other campers there. This is a poorly maintained campground with huge potholes in the road going in and standing water everywhere. If Louisiana is going to charge me a reservation fee for a walk-in, I’ll stay in another state. The sites on the water are $42 and there is no cell service anywhere in the park. Supposedly there is wi-fi in some areas but they couldn’t tell me where that was and I never found it.

    Nice campground

We stayed here this past weekend and really enjoyed our stay. The hiking trails are well maintained and easy to follow! We were able to kayak through a lot of water areas as well! The park rents canoes for people to use if you don’t have your own. We got to experience the Dutch Oven Society, which was GREAT!! If you are ever at a camp ground and they are around, you should check out their demonstration and sample all the great food they cook! The RV site was big enough for our bumper pull, but there was a large tree on the site that kept us from being able to put out the awning. Thankfully it was a nice weekend so it wasn’t missed. Also, the fire pit and picnic table was close to the road. We found it oddly placed. All the sites seemed to have tent pads and plenty of shade. Definitely bring some mosquito spray and citronella candles. The water everywhere brings them out! All in all, o would recommend this park! We had a great time and will go back!

    Pretty Park

March 30, 2021 Site #65 for three nights. Well maintained park with clean facilities and laundry. (Bring quarters. Nearby Dollar General dispenses them by the roll)
Sites in the circles at end of campground roads offer the most space and privacy with water and electric. Bold Wild hogs came into my site and disturbed my dogs. Hogs stood their ground, and did not back down. Trails for walking and a couple of ponds, one for swimming.

Quiet with a Feeling of a Little Privacy

The spot was surrounded by small trees essentially hiding the view of the neighbors. Pretty area with a good hiking trail. Wild pigs hang around, so don’t get close!

    Great park!

We stayed here this last weekend for the first time and really enjoyed it! There are a couple of kayak/canoe trails that were great! The hiking trails are also great and well maintained. The RV spots are spacious and most of them shaded. I would suggest bug spray since the park is surrounded by water. We would definitely go back here!
