          Cajun Palms RV Resort

          Super fun place to be

Our site was $63 a night for 5 nights & $79 for two nights. We got a weekly rate of $574.16

We were in Site# 2144 The check in was at 12pm and Check out is at 11am.
We had Full hook- up with a concrete pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep.

The site was easy to level.

Our site was fairly shaded with one tree. This was a smaller lot with our neighbors fairly close.

The lot comes with a concrete patio with picnic table and fire ring.

It is an easy access to the campground from highway -(less than 1 mile from highway).

There is free WiFi. They offer Cable TV and there are many channels.

There is not a community outdoor kitchen but do have quite a few community fire pits.
They sell wood but were out the entire week we were there.

They pickup your garbage at your site daily.

You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They also allow you to rent golf carts. It is beneficial to have a golf cart to get around since it is a large campground. They would not let us use our e-bikes around the campground.

They do have multiple swimming pools including a water playground and splash pad. There is a huge hot tub. We especially loved the 21+pool with swim up bar. Water Amenities are open from March 29th-October 26th. You can also rent poolside cabanas. They have a few smaller ponds for catch & release fishing.

They have a decent general store with some food, accessories, and clothes options.

There is a separate Activity Center for kids. There are tons of scheduled activities for kids like gem mining, tie dying, candle making, candy bar bingo, sand art, etc.

There is a Playground. They also offer pickleball, cornhole, and basketball sport court. There is a Game room for kids. They have a workout room for adults.

There are three bars (one serving food) and a separate concession stand that also serves food.

Right outside of the park is a delicious restaurant/fresh seafood market with a daiquiri drive thru (many flavors).

There is live music on site!

The streets are paved and good for riding bikes. There is not really anywhere to ride bikes outside of campground.

They have multiple RV slip options along with cabins/cottages/villas for rent. Tent camping is not allowed.

They have many shower houses. The shower house has individual bathrooms with your own sink, shower, toilet. These are kept very clean.

There is a few laundry facilities. They allow you to use cash or credit card. It is approximately $2 to wash and $2to dry a load.

They have a fenced in dog park (Barkaritaville) with a dog wash. It is located in the back far corner of the park.

Bugs were a little bit of an issue and bug spray was definitely needed.

There were no trails to hike in the campground but the park is so huge, it is a great walk within itself.

We shopped at the local market outside of the park and the Piggly Wiggly. We went on the Cajun Food Tour and definitely recommend this (link on CM’s website).

          Mosquitoes

The mosquitoes were horrible. We left the doors open to our car to move our stuff to go to sleep and there were about 20 mosquitoes in our car as we were ready to go to bed. It was a nice spot but definitely don’t leave car doors open or bring some bug

Neat area but lots of mosquitoes even on March 2, 2024

About three miles on well maintained gravel. Nice area, although fairly remote. Clean. Well maintained. There were 3 others camping when we got there. A couple of folks were shooting their rifles at the gun range for a while. Fishermen came and went at the boat ramp. Quieted down at sunset. Swarms of mosquitoes on March 2, 2024. I wouldn’t plan to cook outside. We found (well) water available at the ranger/mangers station to refill our trailer. Plus it’s free!

          Not a quiet place

This is our second stop here. The first was in late December several years ago. This time is early spring. It’s an older campground, and shows wear. This isn’t a quiet campground. It is right next to the interstate, there is light industry around, and trains. Noise all night long! Some sites have cracked pads. Some of the equipment doesn’t work. Sites are too close together (maybe 10 feet apart) and the neighbor’s sewer hook up was next to our picnic table. Just plain unsanitary! But it is ok for a stop for a night or 2. Playground for the kids looked nice. Small pool but not opened in late February. They have a lake for fishing and boating but didn’t see anyone doing either during our stay. This is Cajun country. Walking distance to Billy’s Cajun market for great boudin balls and alligator pies.

We had it to ourselves, so spot on for that

We thought on the way here, we might not be able to get in but had the place to ourselves, which was great, apparently there's another campsite farther on so the parks staff told us, but we stayed here.  Only complaint 'man those bugs be bugs', bring bug spray, thermisills, and anything else you can think of to combat them, stayed end of February.  Wonderful setting.  Had a campfire tonight and got visited by 2 armadillos, fabulous !!

          So sick!

This campground is so cool. Takes a bit to get to, and you’ll wonder if you’re at the right place at first, but you are! It’s so peaceful and tranquil. We parked right by the water and had full hookups for only $15. The dogs loved going on walks out to the fishing pier and boat ramps. We wished it were warmer so we could have taken the kayaks out. The sunsets on the gulf look stunning and cell service is off the charts because there is a tower literally on the campground. Highly recommend. Oh! It’s CASH ONLY by the way. Don’t make that mistake because the closest atm is like half an hour away.

Perfect Disconnected on the Water Getaway

We stayed at spot 38. We we're right on the water with our own dock/deck. Close to the restrooms but not much through traffic. Dumpster was right across next to the bathrooms. Not a lot of street lights throughout the campground made things nice and quiet at night. Spots were asphalt and needed a decent bit of leveling. The water and electricity hookups were on the camp side, which made for an awkward parking job to accommodate for the cord lengths. The site had no Verizon cell service, in order to receive notifications or just make a phone call you have to walk back towards the main road. The hiking trails were very nice with lots of shorts and long options. The canoe trails were also nice with the ability to rent kayaks or canoes. Overall the campground was clean, relativity quiet, right on the water, and is perfect if you are looking to disconnect.

I really like this spot. It's got great scenery along the river, nice open spaces, well maintained, and there's a free shooting range including archery, pistol, and rifle areas. Decently maintained bathroom with a toilet. Icame mid December and am the only one camping. My only complaint that might bother some people would be the noise of the shooting range, but it's not that bad or frequent.

          Relaxing

We chose Hidden Pines for our first trip with new travel trailer due to close to home. Not a lot of campers due to expected heavy rainfall. It did rain, but only one night so had relaxing time outdoors during daytime. Very impressed with Campground - no puddles or standing water with the amount of rain received. The sites are well planned. Staff and family members were extremely nice and offered any help. Will plan more trips to Hidden Pines!

          Perfect I-10 / I-49 stop

We do not like to get too far off of our route. Bayou Wilderness is 4.5 miles from I-49 just north of I-10. The park is exceptionally well maintained. The pool is nice and there is a playground next to the pool. The Laundry/Bath House is clean and the bathrooms are modern. There are three separate bathrooms with a toilet and a shower. The laundry has 6 washers ($2.00) and 6 working dryers ($2.50). This is an excellent overnight stay with FHU. It is worth it. I I travel south again I would plan this stop on my route.

Nice park , but not my favorite

We arrived at this park on a Thursday . It was fine, although the restrooms were extremely far from our site. They were very clean . We also used their nice laundry facilities. On Friday , the crowds started to arrive. We learned many locals frequent this campground. By evening, the park was full . Groups being a bit rowdy and playing music very loud. We are not prudes but I really don’t want to be 8 sites away and hear blasting music. Over all the week days I think would be a little quieter . Sites we large. Ours had a bit of vegetation to separate us from neighboring sites.

        Guide to Abbeville

Camping near Abbeville, Louisiana, offers a mix of beautiful scenery and unique experiences. Whether you're looking for a quiet retreat or a family-friendly adventure, there are plenty of campgrounds to choose from.

        What to do:

        What campers like:

        • Spacious Sites: Campers appreciate the roomy sites at Lake End Park Campground & Marina. A visitor said, "Sites are close, but we were spaced out fairly well," which adds to the comfort.
        • Clean Facilities: Many campers enjoy the cleanliness of the facilities. At Frog City RV Park, one reviewer mentioned, "The campground is level, well maintained, and a perfect spot to stop."
        • Friendly Staff: The welcoming atmosphere is a highlight for many. A camper at Cajun Palms RV Resort remarked, "The people at the desk were friendly as well," making for a pleasant stay.

        What you should know:

        • Noise Levels: Campgrounds near highways can be noisy. One camper at Lafayette KOA mentioned, "This isn’t a quiet campground," so if you're looking for peace, choose your site wisely.

        Tips for camping with families:

        • Plan for Noise: If your family prefers quiet, consider visiting during the week. A camper at Palmetto Island State Park Campground noted, "The sites are spacious but we arrived on a Friday and the crawfish boils and drinking had begun," indicating weekends can get rowdy.
        • Pack Snacks: Having snacks on hand can keep kids happy. One visitor at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park Campground enjoyed the "playground and splash pad," so plan for fun breaks.

        Tips from RVers:

        • Check Site Levels: Make sure to check the level of your site. A reviewer at Poche's RV Park & Fish-N-Camp mentioned, "Site#22 not level," which can be a hassle for RV setups.
        • Bring Extra Cords: If you're using electric hookups, bring extra cords. A camper at Lake End Park Campground & Marina noted, "The water and electricity hookups were on the camp side, which made for an awkward parking job."
