We are centrally located near major shopping, restaurants, and services, yet in a quiet, comfortable, secure area. We are located approximately 1.5 miles north of Lake Shawnee, where you can enjoy fishing, boating, jet skiing, paddle boating, or the beautiful 8-mile trail around the entire lake for walking or bike riding.
Our park is concrete throughout with beautiful landscaping, surrounded by trees, and fully fenced with a security gate. Nice stop, not far from 1-35. Has full hookups with pull thur sites. Older shower house, but was nice and clean, friendly staff. TV reception was fair, wifi was skecte, but the closer you get to the office the better you can get there wifi. About 3rd of the park has long term tenants, but all in all nice place

This campground has wonderful amenities - a big shower house, a nice playground, boat launch and lake access, and full RV hookups. Sites are very close together and there is little privacy for most sites, but not all! Sites along the edge are more likely to have more space and be a little more protected. It’s in a gorgeous area, some sites have fire pits and others have pits and charcoal grills for use. I would say it’s great for RV camping, but tent campers could choose their site wisely.

My husbands job took us to Merriam Kansas and we needed a place to stay, we made reservations at Walnut Grove. We were surprised to find it in the middle of a neighborhood. The staff were very nice and helped us into our site. The sites were on gravel and very close to each other. Walnut Grove was both short and long term campers. There were no tent sites. We had full hook-ups, cell service, and free wifi. We had a picnic table and fire ring and could purchase firewood at their store.
During our stay I was awakened to a startling noise and couldn't figure it out until I went outside and saw the walnuts falling onto our camper. By the time we left, everything was covered(stained) tarnish brown. The park is in a walnut grove hence its name. They had a dog run which was not fenced but provided some grass for the pups. They had a laundry mat and clean showers with good water pressure. There also was a strange noise coming from the trees and when I asked the office what it was they thought it was locusts. I knew that was not their noise so I had to find what it was. After searching, I found that it was tree frogs 🐸 and it was their call. So if you are there in September listen and you will hear them, they love the walnut trees.

We missed a KOA in Kansas City because of construction. Went to Lawrence KOA instead. Glad for the misfortune. The park has all you need for short or long term camping and RV trips.

We’re from Kansas City and there are very few options when it comes to Campgrounds. This is by far our favorite and their rates are very reasonable. We enjoyed our stay, staff was very friendly and the park was clean and easy to get in and out of. You’re also very close to Hillsdale State Park, but this location has a tornado shelter 🤣

Close to a small convenient store and fuel station. (1/4 mile to the east) Close to Hillsdale Lake for swimming and boating. Horseshoe pits. Gated community at night (owners give you code if you leave and come back at night) Aaron and Cindy Bien are the owners and are great people!!

LegendWhen we began our fulltime journey we stayed at this park for a couple of months and learned a lot about it. The management team was very friendly and would often disclose a lot about what was happening at the park. The park was in need of some improvements but it was clean and nice. The spaces are very tight in the travelers section and more spread out in the long term section. Many sites in the park were occupied by storage and the owners never showed up. To walk your dogs at the little park at night, you had to walk through there area. We called this the storage lot. The out of state contractors often had many loud and drunk guests which was obnoxious. They often harassed females walking their dogs to the park through the narrow street, and they were in the back section.
They had reasonable rates when we first stayed there ($40/night for in the city and $500/month). Now it is much more expensive, one night for our rig is $76 according to their website.
We never felt like it was genuinely part of the RV Community, it was more of a stop through or people were staying in the area for a job or to finish a house. It didn’t house many fulltime RVers that would continue traveling. They love to host NASCAR fans and know they are one of the closest parks to the Speedway.

This location was the closest to our family’s homes so we have stayed there three times all together. There is a lot to do nearby and the main draw of this RV Park is definitely the location. You’re not far from downtown Kansas City, and still in the suburbs of Kansas City.

Another great place in Kansas. We managed to book this place on the start of Labor Day Weekend because of a last minute cancellation and we were extremely lucky to get this place last minute. Overall everything was great EXCEPT the swim access on arrow rock. Most of the shoreline is jagged rock and without water shoes or crocs it’s not worth it. Water isn’t too bad but it is still pretty murky.

GuideThis campground is on the northwest side of Clinton Lake. All the activities one would associate with a lake like boat ramps, beach, hiking/biking trails, full hook-up sites, tent camping, playgrounds, etc. The small town of Clinton is nearby and has a small store for items you may forget. It's our go to when we go to Clinton Lake.
LegendLongview campground is not only peaceful and quiet but also in a very pretty area filled with wildlife. There is an attendant and security arms when entering the campground and requires a key code to enter. There are over 100 sites with tent, electric, and full hook ups. The campgrounds are open from April-end of September with prices from $21-33.
There are fire grills and picnic benches at each site and the sites are level on gravel. There is a playground, volleyball net, restrooms and showers. There are 6 picnic shelters with bathrooms scattered on the way to the marina. The lake is beautiful but is not within walking distance from the campground.
We stayed from a Saturday night until Thursday. There weren’t a lot of campers so it was nice and quiet. We saw deer running through the campgrounds and will stay again.

Just a wonderful RV park. Very pretty and clean property. Located next to a creek and ample space around your site. Clean bathrooms and showers. Fun little pool and awesome play area for kids. They have the property gate guarded at night which is another nice feature. If you have the opportunity to stay here, don't hesitate, it's worth it!

I drove in the front entrance and decided I didn't want to look any further. The entrance to the RV park was marked private property no trespassing owner authorization required and a phone number so I didn't go any further. Out on the road there was a CBD shop that didn't appear to be open and a run down RV storage area to the north of that. It did not look very appealing.
ScoutThis is an amazing park. The spot was 55 with a 5.50 Good Sam discount. It is gated, several spots mostly pull through. The roads and parking spots are all concrete with grass and picnic tables. Laundry, bathrooms, showers. Swimming pool and kids play yard. Large fenced pet area. This is just off interstate 70. The reservation desk was very friendly. Would highly recommend.

I car camped here for one night early this spring and will definitely come here again. There was a big RV parked next to me, some other car campers, and then a group of tent campers. The sites are right on the lake and the vault toilet was clean. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring and they are spaced out nicely. There was a decent amount of traffic to and from the floating boat dock but it still wasn’t too noisy.
TravelerStayed here off season for free. They do not close the gates so you can enter but no access to facilities, water or electric. Campground slopes to the river so very few level sites. Some noise from the road but otherwise peaceful as nobody was there.
ScoutIts all about the location and supply and demand. It was very over priced for the tiny amount of space you get and subpar wifi. Thank God our neighbor was nice because the poor guy had no room to get in his truck after we put out our slides.

Our site was $56.78 We were in Site# 59 The check in was at 12pm but the office was closed until 3:30pm so we grabbed our sheet left out front and got ourselves to our site.
We had Full hook- up with a gravel pull-through.
We travel towing a 14 foot trailer and were able to fit both in our pull through site along with my jeep (although the Jeep had to be parked straight across the front of our site to fit in). Also we were right on the highway.
The site was easy to level.
Our site was not shaded and without any trees. The most FRUSTRATING part is that this was a buddy site (that is NO WHERE on their website). We have rescue dogs and don’t want to share our space with neighbors we don’t know. Literally no one wants to Kumbaya by the fireside with complete strangers. Therefore our trip went from one week originally to two nights. We would have left the next day but the husband wanted to see the Evel Knievel museum.
The lot does not have a concrete patio but has a picnic table and fire grate.
They have a community fire pit with multiple swings around it. They sell wood for $6 a bundle.
They do not provide garbage service at your site so you must walk to garbage dumpster at the entrance.
You are allowed to ride personal golf carts. They do not provide golf cart rentals. There is really not a need to have a Golf cart because it is a smaller campground.
They do have a saltwater Swimming pool. They have a catch and release fishing pond.
There is a Playground. They also offer a weight room and an adorable activities room with air hockey, a library, & a pool table. There is also a scenic walking trail. The trail is almost a mile and they’ve kept it mowed and easy to identify.
They have a basic general store. There is not a snack bar/restaurant on site.
The streets are gravel so not great for riding bikes.
They have cabins for rent and a tent area (electric & primitive options).
They have 2 shower houses. The shower house in the main barn has individual shower/toilet/sink areas. The shower house in the park has the typical stalls. These are kept very clean.
There is a laundry facility in both shower houses. It is a cash only facility.
They have a fenced in dog park which is unfortunately located in the front of the park away from RV sites.
Some fun things to do outside of the campground are the Evel Knievel museum and Brown vs. Board of Education historical park.
Staff are very kind. I would definitely stay here in the future but will know to secure a site that isn’t shared with others

We stayed here one night and wished we had booked a longer trip. The park is awesome, spacious sites and level. The park is well taken care of and very easy to get to from I70. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had water and electric but no sewer, which was a little bit of a pain. However there are full hookup sites, just none available. I would definitely plan a longer trip next time. Lots of wildlife, hiking, and beautiful lake.

All of the usual summer outdoor activities are supported, including swimming, boating, fishing, picnicking, and camping. There is a swimming beach with sand volleyball. The park is about 560 acres with a 200 acre lake. There is a dock at the campground for boat access to the campground. The campground offers several pull through sites that have full hookups. The rest are back-in with water and electricity. The sites are not very level, so bring leveling equipment! The rates are EXTREMELY affordable. First come, first served. Holidays will find the campground FULL. If you want to be there for a holiday, know that you are allowed to stay 14 consecutive days before you must take 5 day break. Fees are cheaper for city and Miami county residents.
