East Shore Camping Area — Cheney State Park

    Year round camping available

We stayed overnight with our trailer en route. There are specific sites available year round that have water and electric available. These are located in the Marina and Lakeside campgrounds on the East side. The water spigots are insulated. 50 amp available at Marina campground only. 30 amp at both. Being winter, it’s pretty sparse, dry, and windy. For an overnight, it was an affordable stay.

My only complaint is that the available sites aren’t clearly communicated. We drive to every site until we found the right one. Wish they would update that info for winter camping.

Dump stations available! Unfortunately not for human consumption (see pic) :D

    All Seasons RV Park

    Clean RV Park

We stopped here on our way to NW Arkansas from western Colorado. The sites had gravel and were level. We had a pull through site with 50 amp service, water and sewer that fit our 40 ft Motorhome towing a Jeep. There was a bathhouse/shower with code entry which was nice. The sites had a picnic table. The office was clean and everyone was friendly. Rates were fair. I believe around $50.

Boulder Bluff Area — El Dorado State Park

El Dorado State Park Bemis Loop

Very quiet and spread out. Small RV loop with approximately 35 gravel sites all with water and 30/50 amp electric. The sites are fairly level with picnic tables at each site. All have lake views. It’s about 3 miles to the main state park area, which is very busy.

Bluestem Point Area — El Dorado State Park

    Actually stayed at Bemis CG

We actually camped at Bemis Campground about a mile and a half south of this campground. Right off of the main road. There was about 15 or 20 spaces all with electric. I believe there was vault toilets only but no dump station. We had to come up to the blue stem area to dump. Nice little campground right on the lake but downside was that it was right next to the road so a little bit of traffic noise and not really any place to hike or walk. Spaces were fairly level and nicely spaced apart. Probably would recommend taking a back in spot rather than a pull through spot as the pull through were all pretty small and had no shade.

West Shore Camping Area — Cheney State Park

    Summer fun

The campsite has friendly staff, the facilities and campsites are clean, great swimming area. They are pet friendly and have a leash law. The boat ramp and dock are good sized and kept maintained. I have a great time everytime I go. I recommend it as a stop while you are in Kansas.

    Air Capital RV Park

    Clean Parking Lot

Needed a FHU site to flush the black tank near Wichita. Wanted to stay in the area after a Boondocker’s Welcome stay to finish our sight seeing. Backin site, very close together, concrete, but not level. Verizon signal great, close to groceries and restaurants. Believe a lot of residents are here long-term working. Overall, suited our purpose.

4 mile Creek RV Resort and Campground

    Bicycle/Camping Overnight

Nice grassy area with nice showers and restrooms. Medium size pond with a small pavillon and large grill. Dock needs maintenance. Some long term residents. Rough gravel roads two miles into and out of property, but only about 2 miles south of Hwy 400

Boulder Bluff Area — El Dorado State Park

    Beautiful and peaceful

We stayed in the equestrian loop. All but a couple primitive sites are back-in. The layout of the fire rings, grills and picnic tables are all weird... Not consistent and usually on the wrong side of your trailer. The parking pad was nowhere near level, so you'll want to plan for that. The trees are lovely. You're very near the water and the breeze was beautiful. The toilet at the loop are pit. The bath house was not clean and many of the showers didn't work.. Water is lukewarm but water pressure was great. No stall doors on toilets or showers. We used the city of El Dorado dump station. The park is massive. Lots of amenities in El Dorado. And a quick jump to Wichita. We will be back.

    McPherson State Fishing Lake

    Primitive camping

It's very scenic with plenty of shade. The sites are on the west side of the lake. Sites are pull through. Pit toilets but not close to campsites. Serene and peaceful. FREE. I have 4 bars T-Mobile but no OTA tv reception.
