    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Established campgrounds near Halstead, Kansas provide access to a range of camping facilities with several options within a 20-mile radius. Wichita's Spring Lake RV Resort in Halstead offers cabin accommodations alongside RV and tent camping, while Harvey County East and West Parks provide lakeside camping with varying levels of amenities. Most campgrounds in the area feature electric hookups, with many also offering full hookup sites for RVs. The terrain is primarily flat with some wooded areas around lakes, making these campgrounds accessible for most vehicles without special clearance requirements.

Campsites throughout the Halstead region typically require payment rather than offering free dispersed camping options. Most developed campgrounds remain open year-round, though seasonal considerations affect water availability and comfort. "Sandy beaches at most of the tent campsites are our favorite things about this lake! Also, super affordable camping," noted one visitor about Harvey County East Park. Summer temperatures can be quite hot, while spring and fall offer milder conditions for camping. Winter camping is possible but limited facilities may be available during colder months. Reservations are recommended for weekend stays, especially during summer months when lakeside sites fill quickly.

Water access represents a significant draw for campers visiting the Halstead area. Harvey County East Park provides lakeside sites with boat docks, while fishing opportunities attract visitors to multiple locations. According to feedback, "Great campground really enjoy the large and shady sites. I also like how they put boat docks behind all of the lake side sites." Bathroom and shower facilities receive mixed reviews, with some campgrounds maintaining cleaner facilities than others. Many campgrounds feature picnic tables, fire rings, and trash disposal. Noise levels vary by location, with some campgrounds experiencing weekend crowding during peak summer months. Sites with trees providing shade are particularly valued given the region's hot summer climate, and several campgrounds offer this natural amenity alongside water access.

      Lyons City Campground

      No longer open

I’m a resident of Lyons and just wanted to inform that this campground is no longer open/available for use. Most if not all of the hookups have been removed.

      Good stop

Nice little campground. Not fancy but everything you need for a day or two recharge. Hot clean showers and restrooms, and a good restaurant right next door.

      Hillsboro Cove

      Great waterfront spots

Nice place to be if you’re visiting in the area, or love water sports – it looks like. Many of the sites adjacent to the water are very nice. Our site was nice and secluded. Level and one of the better sites.

      Love's RV Stop-McPherson KS 608

      Perfect overnight stop

Super clean with lots of amenities; dog park, basketball, pickleball, frisbee, grills, covered picnic tables, large and very sturdy concrete tornado shelter (had to use it through a storm with 100mph gusts because…well…. when in Kansas!), showers and bathrooms on site also. All sites are ENORMOUS, level, well lit, and full hookup. Definitely stay here while passing through. Only drawback is no shade and it took HOURS to cool travel trailer down.

Walnut River Area — El Dorado State Park

      Big Oaks and Big Noise

We just did a quick overnight camp on a road trip out east. No noise from other campers, but this is near a railroad track or maybe even depot. So there was constant noise throughout the night. If you are a hard sleeper, you might be fine! Otherwise—not the best! We didn’t use the facilities here, so can’t speak to the bathroom, though there is one.

Lots of bugs this time of year, which whatever. BUT you can pull into this site at any time. There are self pay stations as you drive in or you can pay with the rangers if their station is open. It was a fine pit stop. Served its purpose.

      Perfect place to stay

Nice and clean, well kept, was disappointed that they will call you and complain at the drop of a hat if your dog barks once.
