Cozy cabin cured my camping craving!

The adorable cabin fulfilled my tiny home dreams and camping craving! The cozy cabin had a queen bed, twin bunks and a sofa that made out to a full size sleeper. Kitchen included a fridge, sink and single cup coffee maker. Coffee k cups were provided in a few different varieties as well as sugar and creamer packs. Bathroom had tub/shower, clothesline to dry swim suits or hand-washed clothes, toilet, sand sink vanity. Bedding and towels were provided and were crisp, clean white. WiFi was a bonus and although it wasn’t the fastest it was very useful when looking up nearby activities. Our cabin had a grill, an outdoor table with four chairs, a swing and a fire pit which we enjoyed our last night there. Staff was friendly and helpful. There were laundry facilities within the park and lots of activities but we didn’t take advantage of any of that during our brief stay. Overall, we were very pleased and would gladly stay again!

    Winton Woods Campground

Love this campground for a weekend rendezvous!

Winton Woods campground has spacious paved RV spaces with full hook-ups, fire ring, and picnic table. They also have cabin and tent camping. The location is located on the lake with access to put in a kayak or canoe. The bathrooms are clean, with private combined shower/dressing stalls. There is a playground for children, and a camp store that sells firewood and supplies. I love the tall pines on the property. They made me feel like I was out west. The campground is also near paved and unpaved trails in the park that surround more of the lake which allows for walking/running/hiking and bicycling, fishing, small craft boating, with small craft boat rentals available at the marina. The park also allows for horseback riding, and a small water park for children in the summer.

    Winton Woods Campground

Great county park in a beautiful setting!

This is a great county park! It has a nice “campground” feel set in a large pine trees and wide sites but has 50-amp full hook-up sites. The campground is set in Winton Woods County Park which is about 20 minutes from downtown Cincinnati.

There are 123 campsites including RV sites, tent pads, and camping cabins. Most RV sites are back-in but there are 12 pull-thru sites. There is a myriad of sites here from 50-amp full hook-up with paved pads and patios to 30-amp gravel sites. Sites have fire pits, picnic tables. Campsites in the front section (1F – 25F and 1R – 12R) are big rig-friendly with paved roads wide enough to easily maneuver. All utilities worked accordingly and were well-placed in the site. Our 4G Verizon phone got good reception and we were able to get plenty of antenna television channels. The online reservation system is easy to use and gives you an array of sites/cabins to choose from. Be aware that lots of people use this park on the weekends so it can get quiet busy.

There are lots of amenities at this park. Within walking distance of the campground is Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails. There is a camp store, dump station, laundry, restrooms/shower house, boat/kayak launch, and fishing access. Located in the park is a golf course and horseback riding center.

You are within a few miles of everything … grocery, gas/diesel, restaurants, and plenty of shopping. The park is close to I-275 and I-75 making for easy access to major interstates. One place you should not miss is Jungle Jims international grocery and market. This totally eclectic, sprawling "grocery store" has so much to offer. They pride themselves on providing unique foods from all over the world. I could spend hours in this store perusing the isles of which are sectioned off into country and region. There are entire sections on Indian foods, wines, cheeses that you have never heard of, and tanks with live fish ready for the filleting. Also within close proximity is Greaters -one of the country's best ice cream shops (according to Food and Wine). Just down the street is a new person favorite sandwich shop called Izzy's which is famous for their corned beef and delicious potato pancakes.

Loved this park because you have a very nice campsite with 50-amp full hook-up site with lots to do in the area. Our site was level and the roads were easy to navigate in our motorhome. The paved trail around the lake was great for walking/jogging and perfect for launching our kayaks.

We would definitely stay here again.

    Florence, IN…Nice campground

Park is well maintained. Nice sized pool and very clean pool area. Park has a playground and dog park. Lots of space between campers with cement patio, fire pit and picnic table and lots of trees. We had no issue pulling in our 42’ 5th wheel. We came in after hours and our name with sits number was posted on the door and plenty of maps for the park. Nice layout! You could barely hear a train off in the distance which sounded cozy. Campground is about 30 min from Madison and Ohio River is across the street. Only con- trash cans are like in a whole different country and hard to get too. Would stay again!!!!!

    Versailles State Park Campground

    “One of Indiana's Finest”

    General Butler State Resort Park

    Great Park to relax

Great little park located just far enough away to get away but close enough to town to run and get something if you forgot it.

Campground is pretty compact but stays pretty quiet. Two well maintained restrooms and shower facilities. Property has a lodge, cabins, pull through, full hook up, and water/power hook up, primitive spots, and day use shelters.

There is a pool and a restaurant are located at the lodge. There are a few hiking trails and a playground for the little ones. There is mini golf canoe and paddle boat rentals available as well.

Free wifi (speed is questionable) but we found 2-3 bars on T-mobile and AT&T.

We frequent this park since it is close to home and the smaller size makes it easier to turn the kids loose. They have enough to enjoy but not so much where we have to be active every second.

Nice quiet spot for a few nights out.

This is a nice county park that is being upgraded.  There is a fairly new playground near the camping areas, a new pit toilet building, and a bridge leading to where a new trail system is being created.  There are a mix of Electric and non electric sites.  I think 9 non-electric and 7 electric sites.

Fire rings and picnic tables at every site.  We were able to fit our Escapod (tear drop) camper in a non-electric site.

I think there is more coming in redevelopment of this county park, so it shoudl keep getting better!

Guide to Greendale

Camping cabins near Greendale, Indiana sit within the Ohio River valley region, which ranges from 450 to 950 feet in elevation. This area experiences humid continental climate with four distinct seasons, including warm summers reaching into the 90s and winter temperatures that can drop below freezing. Most rental cabins in the region remain open year-round, though water systems at some locations may be winterized from November through March.

What to do

Kayaking on accessible waterways: At Morgan's Outdoor Adventures, campers enjoy direct river access just steps from their cabin sites. "We loved the views of Morgan's. Steps away from gorgeous river views. There is nothing like waking up and making breakfast while watching the river roll by!" notes one visitor.

Biking on paved trails: Versailles State Park Campground offers extensive biking opportunities for all ages. "One of our staple campgrounds. Has great bike trails & walking trails. Clean bathrooms," reports a regular visitor. Mountain bikers should check the calendar before booking as the park hosts competitive events that can limit trail access.

Disc golf near camp: Winton Woods Campground features an accessible 18-hole disc golf course near camping areas. "A short 18 hole Disc Golf course is close by. It is a easy course great for beginners," explains one camper. The course remains open year-round and doesn't require advance reservations.

What campers like

Well-maintained shower facilities: Campers consistently mention the cleanliness of facilities at Whitewater Memorial State Park Campground. "The campground facilities are newly updated with two large shower/bath houses," notes one reviewer who appreciated the recent renovations.

Lake access for fishing: Many cabins provide quick access to fishing opportunities. "The campground is set on Winton Woods Lake which has a harbor with boathouse, snack bar, boat rentals and playgrounds. There are miles of paved and rustic hiking trails," describes one visitor. Fishing licenses are required and can be purchased online or at nearby bait shops.

Quiet wooded settings: Travelers seeking peaceful surroundings appreciate secluded cabins. "I stayed at an electric only spot nestled in the trees by the lake. I was the only RV in this section all week and it was so peaceful and private," notes a camper at Whitewater Memorial State Park Campground.

What you should know

Linens not typically provided: Most cabin rentals in the area require guests to bring their own bedding and towels. "Please remember to bring your own linens, Morgan's does not supply sheets for the cabins," advises one visitor. This includes pillows, sleeping bags or sheets, and bath towels.

Site leveling challenges: Some campgrounds have uneven terrain that can impact your stay. At Stonelick State Park Campground, a visitor notes: "There are a number of good sites, but some with a significant slope that leveling would be an issue."

Seasonal facility availability: Winter visitors should be aware of limited services. "We went in October, but did not write review until December. Great place and want to come back in the summer to enjoy the lake and pool," mentions one camper, highlighting that swimming facilities typically close from September to May.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Multiple locations offer play areas for children. "Winton Woods campground has spacious paved RV spaces with full hook-ups, fire ring, and picnic table. They also have cabin and tent camping. The location is located on the lake with access to put in a kayak or canoe. There is a playground for children, and a camp store that sells firewood and supplies."

Group cabins for larger families: Governor Bebb MetroPark Campground provides specialized accommodations for groups. "There is a rustic scout cabin/group lodge reservable for scout, etc. groups. The park features a pioneer village with log cabins, including a blacksmith forge, etc. that have been moved to the site."

Pet-friendly options: Many families travel with pets, and several cabin sites allow them. "We absolutely love this campground, very friendly staff and well kept and clean!! They are pet friendly and allow portable fences," notes a visitor to Follow The River RV Resort.

Tips from RVers

Full hookup availability: RVers planning extended stays should research utility options. "We spent 3 nights here for our maiden voyage as we picked up a new travel trailer from their local dealer, 'Couch's RV Nation'. They had everything we needed for a pleasant stay," reports one camper at Winton Woods Campground.

Concrete pads at premium sites: Some locations offer improved pads for easier leveling. At Follow The River RV Resort, sites include "concrete pads, nice picnic table & fire ring. Internet, meh. Typical. We bring our own wifi (T-Mobile was fine)."

Dump station congestion: Plan departure timing carefully to avoid waiting. "I would also note that there is only one dump station for the three campgrounds so there can be quite the line when trying to get out of there on a Sunday afternoon," advises a visitor to Versailles State Park Campground.
