    Mississinewa Lake Campground

    Good campgrounds for boating!

If you want woodsy, private sites, don’t come here. Most are grassy and sunny. There are many areas where the sites back up close to each other. 2 rows of full hookup. Plenty of 50 amp and many good tent sites. Beach in the park but not walking distance. Great mooring area for campers. Don’t try to pull-thru in any sites that are back-in. DNR will come around repeatedly and ask you to turn around...after you are already set up. Disc golf, trails, store near the beach, cabin rentals.

    Mississinewa Lake Campground

    Short but fun stay

Campsites have a gravel parking pad, picnic table, fire-ring, electrical hookups, and thick health grass which is awesome if you're staying in a tent! The have public wifi that isn't really working that often. There was a truck delivering firewood making rounds through the campground which was very convenient. Stuff to do - disc golf, beach, beach volleyball, hiking & biking trails, boating/fishing. Unfortunately we didn't get to stay here for long, so we're planning on coming back soon.

Natural Springs Resort - RV Park, Campground and Recreation Destination

    Lots to offer-tight sites

Full service campground. 30, 50 am full hook ups. Water and electric only hook ups, primitive RV and tent sites. Some sites are shaded, most of them seem to be year round rented. Most sites not shaded and small. Lake with beach, fishing, boating, and scuba diving. Golf cart rentals, firewood for sale on site. Pool available. Camp store and hot food available on site. Cabins also available for rent. Within 25 min of Walmart, hole improvement stores, and restaurants. Overall nice campground with lots to offer. But in most cases there is parking lot style camping.

Natural Springs Resort - RV Park, Campground and Recreation Destination

Glad we checked it out, but don't feel the desire to come back.

Advertises heated pool and splash pad, but pool was not heated and colder than lake(major bummer- as this was a major draw for us) and splash pad is still under construction- not new and ready for 2021. Lake is nice and clear, pretty cold(would love to feel it in August or September). Fun to jump into and overall pretty. Wibit should be included or at least offer 1/2 hour slots. Everyone is very nice, close to cute coffee shop and stores in Richmond. Park is in need of updates, just feels used- but can tell that is in process. No COVID restrictions other than"stay distanced" sign, but our adults were vaccinated and we just tried to keep our kids distanced. Good WiFi, everything fairly clean, nice little store w/ inexpensive ice cream. No"bar& grill" as advertised. Newer playground structure, but for younger kids- no swings.

    Mississinewa Lake Campground

    Mississinawa a nice weekend getaway

We venture up to mississinawa reservoir pretty often as it's close and nice. Friendly ataff, well jept grounds. Note not all bath houses are created equal here. One of their bath houses that is most convenient to more campsites , unless renovated this year really lacks..getting the proper temperature is difficult, it lacks descent privacy and you have to continually push a button to get water. (Can be inconvenient when rinsing soapy hair) Now the negative out of the way... it's lg enough that there's usually a site available. UNLESS it's during a special event such as their reenactment or their 4th of July celebration and fireworks. They have a descent beach w/a very nice bath house and connecting concession stand, convenience store. Plenty of roads to ride bikes on. A designated boat ramp and docks if you want to bring your boat along. Fishing is good with a fish cleaning station for campers. (Note- Asian carp are an issue here) Fire rings but I find campfires a a make it or break it...I won't camp there is they don't allow campfires. Trails for hiking. We have camped in their nice but simple cabins. But they do have an issue with raccoons. During one of our cabin stays raccoons really did a number on a window screen in an attempt to het it to our food and the staff was indifferent to the problem. Still it is a nice park/campground I'd recommend. Be alert to the weather though as this area seems to always get hit by bad storms. Happy Camping!

Guide to Muncie

Cabin accommodations near Muncie, Indiana provide lodging options for those seeking a middle ground between tent camping and hotel stays. Located in east-central Indiana at approximately 950 feet elevation, the Muncie area experiences four distinct seasons with summer highs averaging in the 80s and winter lows frequently below freezing. Most cabin rentals in this region operate from April through October, though several facilities like Prairie Creek Reservoir maintain year-round availability.

What to do

**Water activities at Prairie Creek: Lake access for fishing with convenient cabin proximity. A visitor to Prairie Creek Reservoir noted, "Primitive tent camping is more than affordable, and the fishing was AWESOME!! He had an amazing time. We've been back 5 times since then."

Disc golf at nearby courses: Cornerstone Campground features an on-site disc golf course among its amenities. A camper mentioned, "Totally delightful, some full timers and part timers, many parks and benches to sit on, nice disk golf course."

Outdoor inflatables at Camp Modoc: Water toys and floating structures available for summer recreation. As one camper at Kamp Modoc described, "The pond was great with the inflatables and water toys available for use. The camp store is large and offers food."

Seasonal concert attendance: Some cabin facilities coordinate with nearby music venues. A reviewer at Mystic Waters Campground shared, "We enjoyed the bus ride both days to see Dave Matthews Band," highlighting transportation services to concerts.

What campers like

Clean, well-maintained facilities: Most cabin sites prioritize cleanliness and regular upkeep. A visitor to Cornerstone Campground noted, "Facilities were well kept and very clean. Everyone was friendly."

Family-oriented activities: Scheduled events throughout peak season. According to a camper at Kamp Modoc, "There were many activities put on by the campground. They have bathrooms, showers, laundry, etc. Friendly staff!"

On-site amenities: Swimming options during summer months enhance the cabin experience. A visitor to Wildwood Outdoor Escape mentioned, "The pool is small but really nice, 4'6" deep. We found out the hard way toddlers who are not potty trained are not allowed in the pool even with swimmy diapers on."

Proximity to urban attractions: Easy access to Indianapolis from many cabin locations. One reviewer stated, "Used this campground as a home base to visit downtown Indy. 20 minutes to downtown attractions."

What you should know

Payment methods vary: Some facilities have limited payment options. A camper at Wildwood Outdoor Escape noted, "Payment needs to be by cash or check which I thought was strange in this day and age."

Wi-Fi reliability issues: Internet connectivity varies significantly between locations. One reviewer commented, "They publish that they offer free Wi-Fi however the Wi-Fi is so spotty it barely works."

Highway noise at some locations: Road proximity affects sound levels at certain cabin sites. A camper at Pine Lake Fishing & Camping Resort shared, "This was really convenient and close to Indy, where we took the grandkids to the children's museum," but proximity to highways means background noise at some locations.

Seasonal operation limitations: Most cabins near Muncie close for winter. Wildwood Outdoor Escape operates from "mid April to mid October" according to their listing information, while Prairie Creek offers year-round availability.

Tips for camping with families

Water features for children: Pools and splash areas provide summer recreation options. A visitor to Indianapolis KOA noted, "The splash pad / water park was fun, but was not a pool. It only goes to 3 feet so if you want to swim this is not for you."

Playground accessibility: Kid-friendly structures at multiple facilities. According to a camper, "The balance between kid fun and peaceful nature is actually on point here. It was beautiful and peaceful but still a blast for kids with the water, playground, and even horses to view (not for riding)."

Scheduled activities: Family-oriented events during peak season. One visitor observed, "Very large KOA. They have all different types of sites. Love the pool if you have kids this would be a place to stay for a few days."

Site spacing considerations: Privacy levels vary between locations. A camper at Cornerstone Campground shared, "My only complaint is, it's your typical campground where you're right on top of your neighbor. If you don't mind, it's fine."

Tips from RVers

Site leveling requirements: Terrain varies at cabin and RV sites. A tent camper noted, "The lot was spacious but had a big hill, which made sitting in chairs around a camp fire interesting."

Delivery food options: Some locations offer on-site food delivery. A visitor mentioned, "We ordered pizza for dinner they deliver to the site which is nice. Ice cream available a lot of flavors and real ice cream not just soft serve."

Bathroom accessibility: Central facilities may require significant walking at larger properties. Plan accordingly for nighttime needs or consider cabins with private facilities.

Firewood considerations: Quality and cost of firewood varies by location. One camper warned, "The bundles were $6.50 each and the entire bundle burned in about an hour. It can get expensive quick!"
