Nice quiet place to get away to. Sights are large. Good size lake for fishing or Kayaking. Large beach area for kids. Graded shallow so they can go a good distance into the water. Scuppernong trail is less than 5 minutes down hwyZZ.
The channels are always swell. People always respectful with their boats. Very beautiful place to live.
We came across this one day during a day hike in the Marengo Ridge Forest preserve in McHenry county. It's about 90 mins NW of Chicago. The trails are both wooded and hilly, but there's also a large prairie nature walk.
The campground has many secluded walk-in tent sites and a variety of sites…
Did a quick stay with the kids for a Friday and Saturday night. A little bit smaller of a campground with regards to site space, but that's about the only thing 'bad' to say, and it's not really a bad thing at all.
Staff was very friendly and the facilities were kept very clean.
We've camped here before and like it. The sites are spacious and most seem to have shade for at least part of the day. Each site has a picnic table and fire pit. Ours had a grill the folded in and out, not sure if all have it. The beach is great, open and lots of room to set up for the day either…

I reserved site B38 for me and my small dog, Bob. It’s a tent only site in the main camping area, only $16 per night after fees. Each site has a fire pit and I think all include a grill surface on the pit. Lots of good trees around for hammocking, especially at B38. Short walk to the shower and…
Had Electric and Water hookup. Very roomy and level sites. It's about 9 years old, so no trees. No swimming or fishing. Only hiking trails.
This large campground was filled up with an upcoming triathlon. Even with all these campers there is still plenty of greenery between sites to give us privacy. We didn’t feel as if we were part of such a large place - such a great experience to have a small vibe amongst many campers.

This park is a bit smaller in scale but has flat roads for biking and hiking. Our site bordered the road and was noisy, suggest you look for a site in the middle of the campground where it was much quieter. Saw some interesting birds and enjoyed the picnic area at the lake

We stayed at the Prairie View section on site P27. It was me, my wife, our 8 month old daughter, and our dog. One thing I always look up before booking a campsite is how secluded we are since our dog gets very anxious and will bark at almost anyone that gets “too close” in her eyes. This site…

We weren’t sure if we were going to like it because we were camping without kids, and it seems like the kind of campground that people with kids would go to because of all the fun activities. But noise was not an issue. Bathrooms were clean. Everything was good.
Camp is on the Chain-O-Lake, if you like any type of boating. Fox Den site are space well. Good trails for both walking and biking.
This is a family owned park with primarily seasonal spots. Everyone has had free reign to decorate or add stuff at will. Some are nice sites and some are a dilapidated mess. There are shorter term sites at the top of the hill in the back of the park. These sites are fairly close together and in…
Outside Rockford ILL. I didnt stay, was just scouting. Hardly anyone here. Sites are close together. Has electric. $13 residents, $23 non reaidents. Pit toilets. Water.
Stayed for 3 nights over 4th of July. Got spot 38. Was a good spot with access to the trails. Quiet and set back. The platform for tents didn't fit our 6 man tent but the 2 man fit perfect. Bathrooms were not to far. Beautiful trees. Not to buggy.
