McKay’s Bend, which is jointly managed by the BLM and Idaho Fish and Game, is a developed recreation site located along the Clearwater River and Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. This recreation site offers developed camping for RVs and tents, group facilities, a day use area, showers, flush toilets, and provides river access. Facilities Include: • 14 full hookup RV sites with water, electricity 50 AMP service, sewer, picnic tables, and fire rings • 2 large tent campsites with picnic tables and fire rings • Showers - 2 (only available to registered campground visitors) • Day use area with picnic tables and BBQ grills • Drinking water • Flush toilets - 2 • Parking area • NO RV dump station • Open year-round; first come, first served- no reservations can be made. • Dogs must be on a leash (6 feet or less) • Garbage disposal on site. Disposal of any household or industrial refuse or waste brought in from private or municipal property is prohibited and subject to fines. • Campground fees must be paid within 30 minutes after occupying site. • Group day use pavilion, exclusive use: $50 per day. We just stayed here for the first time. We were at Boyer Park & Marina, a KOA, Sept. 1-5, 2024. While the campground was full when we pulled in on Sunday, it was almost empty when we woke up Labor Day morning. Even when full, everything was pretty quiet. The beach and walking paths are very nice and close by no matter which spot you're in. Just below the Lower Granite Dam, it's an easy three mile round trip walk on a paved Snake River Trail. I do not recommend making that journey when it's 83 degrees and getting warmer. UGH
The store is great with many clothing options and more. Mike and Monica who run the place are so nice and very helpful. Apparently we really missed out by not taking advantage of the grill and ordering a Smash Burger, which will even be delivered to your campsite.
We will definitely be back.

We were riding the Idaho BDR (Backcountry Discovery Route) and needed a place to camp near Pierce. There aren't many options that are accessible for our Support Truck but found Deyo Reservoir as a welcome spot. The West sites are very open and close to each other and are what you see first. I kinda stumbled down to the East Campground which is more for Truck/Tent camping and is wooded and cooler (it was 95 degrees when we rode in). Typical for Idaho the sites were nicely spaced, well maintained (it is hosted) and the Vault Toilet was very clean.
Took about an hour to get to our campsite, but was so worth it. Was a creek at the top of a mountain in the middle, I guess hence the name. Local had wondered how we found his special fishing spot. Was a place to swim, but we did not get in. Such a beautiful view and lots of nature to see.
All paved parking spots and easy to access! Only downside is having to walk the dogs across the parking lot to go to the bathroom in the grass, but it’s nice to have the grass! Dog poo bags and trash cans available.
Overall a good and clean stay on the water. Lots of bugs and very dry. Cute little gift shop!
I didn't stay the night, and I'm not a gambler, but I did stop in just to have a look. This was the first casino I have ever been to that didn't gag me with cigarette smoke the minute I walked in the door.
Took my nephews here. The rangers were amazing and full of info that my boys just soaked right up! It really is full of green serene… bathrooms are clean as well as the whole campground.
The management is incompetent. Catherine Thagard is claims policies that are not written and informs customers upon arrival. They threaten you, their male management is racist and aggressive. They bend their "rules" and policies dependent on "who" you are. Most importantly, they treat their employees horribly. Only stay here if you want to fund a racist, masaginistic company that abuses their staff
Level pull through sites. A little close together if full. Water and Electric. Staff friendly and helpful. Only bathroom open was a bit of a walk. Bathrooms were a rustic motif, clean, Hot showers.

Super pretty, gets real cold at night. Very convenient stop between pullman/moscow and clarkston/lewiston. The wildlife is very loud and very curious so bring earplugs if your sensitive to noise. Very clean, will absolutely be going again.
We were there in mid March, the only ones there at the time. There are seven campsites total, three can be accessed with an RV, we did ok with a 27' travel trailer, but I wouldn't recommend going there with anything larger. the rest of the sites would be tent only. There is a clean outhouse, no water or garbage service. We will stay there again.
I recommend this section of Wallowa-Whitman NF Rd 46 (4600) between Thomason Meadow Guard Station and Buckhorn Lookout because it is grazed less than surrounding areas, and thus has more plant diversity--i.e. great WILDFLOWER BLOOM in the spring. At 5000 feet, June to early July is a peak bloom time.
This is the top of the Imnaha River breaks, and you can see fully down into the BEAUTIFUL canyonlands of the Imnaha and Snake. Birdwatching was good for us out here too, especially raptors. One of the trailheads to the historic Nez Perce Nee -Me-Poo Trail is near this "Camp-1" dispersed spot.*
*One of our maps calls the marked spot "FSR 46 Camp-1," but the dispersed camp sites are all along NF Rd 46 from here north to Buckhorn.
The drive up to this area is well-maintained gravel, and an SUV with decent tires can do it. (We did it with a truck hauling a toy-hauler trailer). Bring all the water and supplies and tools you need--this area is REMOTE.
Take Crow Creek Rd off of Hwy 82 (btwn Enterprise and Joseph). All is paved until your intersection with Zumwalt Road, where you veer R to stay on Zumwalt (aka Zumwalt-Buckhorn Rd). It's gravel after that intersection.
Follow signs to Zumwalt Prairie or Buckhorn Lookout.
Crossing over Zumwalt Prairie is a GORGEOUS drive. The Nature Conservancy has their Zumwalt Prairie Preserve here, and it's a great side trip from the camp spot.
This section of NF-46 road is extremely quiet. Only the occasional ranch vehicle travels through. In fall this is a popular camp area for hunters.
I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because of zero water, zero data, the ecosystem/soil that has been abused in the past (not wilderness), the 50-minute drive to WiFi/ restaurant/ water refill/ black water dump. But if I was comparing primitive camping to primitive camping, this would be a 5 of 5.
I would go back here (in late spring or early fall) in a heartbeat.
Tried to find Porters Camp. It us not in the Pines subdivision as on the map. According to locals, it is owned by Potlatch and not available to the public. It was a logging camp.
Campground right on the river and surrounded by businesses but no noise issues.
Pull through site was paved and level. You do need a water pressure regulator. Office does suggest the route to take for easier pull in. Some of the long term campers have multiple cars and large add-ons, so was tricky getting out.
Showers were nice and plenty of room. Sign on indoor pool stated it was closed.
Check in was easy, they do offer food items for sale but the beverage coolers were pretty sparse.
Clean campground and decent space between neighbors. Didn’t use any of the facilities. No sewer hookups. Would visit again. Lake was low and lots of geese so messes everywhere.
I cannot say enough good things about this place! It was very beautiful and clean! It was also very quiet! You are right next to a highway, but you can barely hear it. Robin and Dennis are extremely nice! They will go out of their way to make sure you are happy and safe! They offer so many games and extra amenities that you won’t find at other camp grounds. WiFi was strong, we watched football all day on Saturday! The baked goods are a must! They also sell farm fresh eggs!! We will definitely be back!
Super safe and well organized. A little pricey and you need a reservation. Usually packed. Great for families (large and small), boaters, fishers, and the casual glamper needing a break. Bathrooms and showers were clean and accessible. Very developed campground, so not very outdoorsy. If you need a break from people this may not be for you

My site was gorgeous, looking out over the lake! The Campground was very clean and quiet. Vault toilet was well maintained. Swimming in the lake at the foot of a mountain was sublime.
Beautiful view, super friendly staff, and very convenient location. Just a tiny bit off the highway, easy to access pull-through sites, and very affordable! Super clean and well kept.
Very clean and well maintained. $35 for full hookups (2023). Lawn between sites is mowed and kept looking green. Some sites have large trees for shade, each site has a nice picnic table.
Campgrounds are good, nice fire pits and bathrooms. Mosquitos were bad. Pets welcome on leash.
