Kamiak Butte County Park

With sites accommodating RVs up to 18 feet and tent camping year-round, Kamiak Butte County Park operates as a county-managed campground in the Palouse region of eastern Washington. The park charges $15 per night plus $5 for additional vehicles, making it an affordable base camp for exploring the surrounding rolling hills.

Sites include fire pits, grills, and picnic tables, with trash cans provided at each location. Running water and pit toilets serve the camping area, while the day-use section features a playground for families. Site #4 sits at the end of the camping loop with extra space for multiple tents and partial views of the Palouse landscape through the tree cover.

A hiking trail begins near the campground entrance, leading up Kamiak Butte itself. Weekend hikers frequently use this trailhead, making Saturday a busier day on the trail system. The campground maintains clean facilities and allows both pets and alcohol. "Running water and pit toilets on site," notes Cheryl S. about the basic amenities.

Cell service reaches the campground, and the ADA-accessible facilities accommodate various camping needs. For RV travelers requiring longer sites, Palouse RV Park provides full hookups less than five miles away.

Great time

Very easy to find campsite. Plenty of space Fe our vehicle, a fire pit and grill area. Just overall a great experience.

Nice little campground

We stayed in site #4 which was right at the end with glimpses of the Palouse through the trees and lots of space. You could easily set up 2 tents there. It was $15 a night plus $5 for an extra car. Nice campground, clean, trash cans at each site and a pit toilet. There’s a little trail at Kamiak Butte and you can access it via a trailhead near the entrance of the campground. I did the hike on a Saturday and there were quite few other hikers on the trail.
