  Sunshine RV Park

  Considering an extended stay to visit Savannah - consider Sunshine RV Park

  First of all, Sunshine RV Park is VERY MUCH in business! We stayed here for a month during September 2024. What has happened… the original owner William L.“Bill” Bruner passed June 2022 and now his grandson Michael Bruner is running Sunshine RV Park LLC. We stayed here 20 yrs ago and much has changed and for the better. Sunshine RV Park now has about 70 level concrete RV sites. The RV sites are about 65 ft in length of which 50 ft is poured concrete with a concrete patio. We have a 45ft motorcoach and we fit on our site just fine. All of the sites have 50/30/15 amp electric, water(good tasting/good pressure) and sewer. No problems with electric voltage even in the hot Georgia summertime. And new concrete sites are being added at this time. Lots of area to add more RV sites. Michael is doing a great job as the new owner of Sunshine RV Park. Michael manages the RV park full-time and has help. Someone to cut grass/weed trimming around the RV sites and someone to pick up any trash and help maintain the RV Park. RV sites are being improved ongoing. We use T-Mobile and get a consistent 550-600 mbps down and 10-15 mbps up speeds. With T-Mobile we achieved 5GUC 2-3 bars the majority of the time at the RV Park. We also have a T-Mobile 4G hot spot and achieved speeds of 15-20 mpbs down and 5-15 mbps up. No problems streaming at all. 

  Sunshine RV Park is big rig friendly. No rocks to navigate around and no overhead tree limbs to worry about. Plenty of room between RV’s. All of the sites are back-in except one site which is pull-thru. Sunshine RV Park is pet friendly and has lots of grass for your pet. Just make sure to pick-up after your pet, keep them on a leash at all times and no disturbing of neighbors by your pet. All commonsense rules to live by. Now let me say this… Sunshine RV Park has mostly long-term contract area workers. Advance reservations are needed to stay at Sunshine RV Park. Rif-raff is not tolerated at all by the owner, and it is very quiet here after dusk. I would say that about 60 of the 70 sites are long-term RV’ers. This being said, if you are a traveler and are looking for someplace in the Savannah area to stay, consider Sunshine RV Park IF you want to stay for 1 to 4 weeks or more. You must have a self-contained RV– no tenters. No playground/swimming pool or other RV resort amenities here, but you are only 7 miles to the Savannah Historic District, a 7-minute drive to Kroger grocery and CVS/Walgreens or a 10-minute drive to a Wal-Mart Supercenter. Lots and lots of fantastic area restaurants to choose from that feature great southern-style cooking! Sunshine RV Park is a safe and quiet(an occasional jet flying overhead) place to park your RV as it’s in a residential area. On Sunshine Avenue is the Georgia Public Safety Training Center- a training complex for all Georgia state and local public safety agencies. The Garden City Public Library, the Police/Fire Dept/EMS are all less than a mile from the RV Park. The owner’s home is next to Sunshine RV Park, and he drives around the RV Park to ensure its safety. Amazon local delivery, Wal-Mart grocery local delivery, UPS and FedEx all serve Sunshine RV Park as we had deliveries from all four during our stay. There is a farmers’ market at Forsyth Park every Saturday year-round from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM featuring a variety of farm goods and prepared foods. We did encounter a minor problem with USPS mail. USPS does not deliver to this address unless you register with the Post Office prior to receiving postal mail. To have our USPS postal mail received, we used Post Office General Delivery Service and picked up our mail at the Savannah Post Office downtown. The Savannah Visitor Center on MLK is a great resource to help plan your area adventure. Savannah is a walking town. Savannah has squares and parks, and these are the community's most beloved icons. Originally designed with 24 squares, 22 remain today to be enjoyed by the millions who walk these grassy utopias every year. If I was to mention a negative, driving down Sunshine Ave. we did encounter some tree branches. No damage to our RV but do drive slowly. Sunshine Ave. is only a half-mile long street and the RV park is on the left side at the end of the street. The RV Park’s office has a large sign on it with the address and phone number of Sunshine RV Park. We truly enjoyed our 1 month stay here at Sunshine RV Park and absolutely enjoyed our visit to beautiful and historical Savannah, Georgia. We hope the information we have provided will help you plan your visit to Savannah.

  Update- I had given a copy of our review of Sunshine RV Park to the owner about a week prior to a departure. Michael had read that I had commented on our encounter of some tree branches along Sunshine Ave. and trimmed them back nicely! Even trimming tree branches of private property owners who's homes border Sunshine Ave. IMO, this owner truly cares about this business.

  Spacious Skies Savannah Oaks

  Savanna Oaks review September 2021

  This RV park is a basic very basic RV park. Although they offer full hook up it’s very marginal. I would suggest not getting a site in the front of the park since it’s close to a very highly traveled road and noisy. I would probably try another campground if I were to travel to Savanna again.

  Great Campground- Wide Open Spaces

  Most sites are concrete with full hookups. Its a new campground so they are still getting a the amenities operational. Close to the interstate and Savannah. Be careful of GPS directions as they try to put you down a dirt/narrow road before the "real" entrance. I would definitely stay again. Thank goodness I didn't see any long term sites so it was nice for a change.

  Inland Harbor RV Park

  I Know We’re Inland, But Where’s the Harbor@ Inland Harbor?!

  Conveniently located at exit 49 just off I95 right near Darien, Inland Harbor will impress you on a few fronts besides the immediacy of on / off access to this major highway artery. This is a gated RV resort, so the place gets extra points for its extreme level of security (and being right next to a major highway, this isn’t a bad thing). 

  The grounds themselves are very well groomed and organized. The management (which is new, mind you) has a hands-free check-in approach that at first seems weird (go to your spot and pick up the packet), but then you get it – they’re just being extra cautious and mindful because of Covid. 

  With more or less 40-50 RV parking spaces, Inland Harbor sets up on a high bluff overlooking the scenic Altamaha River Basin adjacent to Cathead Creek. This place boasts great Southern hospitality (and delivers), full-service laundry and some of the cleanest bathrooms and showers I’ve come across in all of Georgia. I will add that Shane and April, the resident managers, are wonderful and incredibly friendly and accommodating.

  There’s a solid amount of historic places nearby to check-out on top of the golden Georgia beaches you’ll find on St. Simmons and Jeckyll Islands and plenty of fishing and golf in any direction.

  From an amenities standpoint, this park offers all the standards– 50/ 30 amp electrical, water and sewage hook-ups. There’s cable and WiFi. Each site has a paved platform/ drive complete with picnic table and running water. Inland Harbor is pet-friendly, so bring your furry buds! There’s even a new pavilion with both heat and A/C. On top of everything, there’s a Waffle House literally located right across the street! Could life get any better?!

  GA Coastal RV Park

  No Coast in Site (and this headline is true)

  Before we begin, GA Coastal RV Park should not be confused with GA Coastal RV Resort (this latter spot is conveniently located just due east on highway 520 and runs adjacent to I-95). That said, if‘Coastal’ is in the name of your‘park,’ I think it is reasonable for folks to expect that you’re property is located on(or even quite near), um, the coast. So, we were disappointed to have booked a spot here at GA Coastal RV Park only to find that we would have to drive 30 minutes to reach water. As for the‘park’ I think it depends upon what your expectation is on this front, but if you are looking for anything more than simply a‘place to park’ than you will be sorely disappointed. Naming conventions aside, this gravel RV roadside parking lot is fairly new(a quarter of this place was under construction when we visited) and there is absolutely no nature(bushes, trees, shrubs or even grass) between you and your neighbors. In fact, the only nature you’ll find here is that which encases the place. The size of these grounds are about a single large city block, and apart from the 3 lanes or so that makes up the jagged maze-like outline of the RV depot, there’s just a small patch of actual grass that has a few picnic tables, volleyball court and tetherball– oh and the 2 single outhouses that you’ll regret visiting. Next to this is the office. There’s not much here in the way of amenities beyond flat ground, newly laid pebble and simple water and electrical hook-ups. The noise from the highway in front of this spot comes at no additional cost. Insider’s tip? The only silver liner to this locale is that it’s a stone’s throw from arguably some of the best BBQ I’ve ever had in my life– Scott’s BBQ& Grill(ribs, pulled pork and potato bombs are to dia for!). Net-net, if you’re looking for an EZ location to lay-up for the night, and everywhere else is booked up, then this joint might not be a bad spot. Happy Camping!

  Fort McAllister State Park Campground

  A peaceful experience

  This park is quiet and calm even when it’s busy. There are sites near the salt marshes that offer little to no shade and there are sites away from them that have more shade. The bathrooms are clean and nice with laundry facilities. All sites are pull through with full hook-ups for RVs/trailers. The campground has a short walking trail through the woods while there is another back at the main park. You can also launch boats and kayaks directly from the campground but beware of strong currents and winds if kayaking (be sure to get tidal charts and a map from the checkin desk if you’re adventurous enough to go exploring far). Staying at the campground offers you half price admission to the Fort and museum which is worth visiting. We saw several deer roaming around the campground as well.

  Savannah South KOA

  A good stop-over or to visit Savannah

  The staff are nice, but mostly ignore you as they ride around the grounds. The campground is nice and clean and right on a lake with a multitude of waterfowl including a large number of swans. We love staying here when we visit family in the area. It's good for long-term or for short stays; and the prices are very reasonable. We have camped here a number of times in all seasons. I recommend this KOA.

  Crooked River State Park Campground

  Great spot

  This is a lovely state park with lots to do, wish we could have stayed long to enjoy everything - hiking, boating fishing, etc. Our RV spot #58 (full hook up) was very spacious with plenty of room and foliage between sites so didn’t feel crammed in. We were here in February so didn’t experience any bugs and it was very quiet and just RV people for the most part. The grounds were clean and well maintained. The bath house near us was clean and modern and had four separate accessible private bathrooms with toilet, sink, and shower so it would be easy for families to take all the kids in at once. There was also a nice laundry area in this building. We would definitely go back if in the area again.

  The sites themselves are fairly basic, but it's a good deal for full hookups, and the park area is all very nice. Staff are some of the nicest and friendliest people we've ever met working an RV park! Would absolutely stay here again

  Biltmore RV Park

  Don’t Let The Name Fool You – Not THE Biltmore, but THAT Biltmore

  Where I come from THE Biltmore is arguably one of the grandest dame hotels in the entire country, so pristine and regal that from the moment you arrive until the sad instance you have to leave, you have been transformed by a world of opulence and luxury that is not easily found or replicated. So when I see any reference to the unique moniker of Biltmore, my head snaps. With this in mind, my first impression of Biltmore RV Park is that it has obviously borrowed a name referencing luxury in order to apply that equity to its own, very mediocre (at best) offering. While certainly a roadside RV stand to be sure, there is no opulence here to be experience at Biltmore RV Park, so don’t let the naming of this place fool you. 

  That said, if you do find yourself in or near arguably the best little city in the entire South (that would be Savannah, GA y’all!) and are in need of a spot to park your over-sized mobile living room for the night (or for many) and cringe at the thought of trying to park your way into a narrow slot overwhelmed on every side by the unsightly scenes or ghastly noise from the very metropolis you are seeking to escape, then look no further than Biltmore RV Park, which to be clear, while we continue on with the naming rights point, does NOT have a park. The subject of ‘Park,’ I would argue, is so much less descriptive of the place and much more accurate in describing the shift position you will have to place your RV or hauling truck in order to come to a complete stop and place your mobile living room stationary… or, in ‘Park.’ :-)

  As for this RV parking lot itself, you’ll find yourself located southwest of Savannah on Highway 17, wherein Biltmore RV Park is one part RV resting place and another half antique store mall. In all, there’s about 30 RV sites to choose from, of which I highly recommend either those that are furthest away from the nearby highway and against the treeline (sites: #11 - 14, 34, 38, 17 and 18) or those that are on the inside circle (sites: #7 - 10). So yes, you really can have it all – pull-through and back-in RV slots with full hook-ups (30/ 50 electric amp, water, sewage), satellite-friendly, complimentary WiFi, dog walking service and decent shade (which should be highly prized here in the Savannah area). This is a place that doesn’t come with much in the way and shape or form of amenities, but if you prize proximity (to Savannah) and price (quite economical), then look no further than Biltmore RV Park, which does provide a very nice landscaped spot to rest for the night without all the ‘bells& whistles’ that normally you would be paying a decent premium for. And if that is what you are looking for, then drive 5 minutes from here and stay at Red Gate Campground, which will offer you many more amenities, but will ask you to pay a bit more for it, in exchange. 

  Insider’s tips? Here’s a few: (1) If you’d like to explore the amazing coastline in and around Savannah, check out little Tybee Island, which is a gem destination of Georgia’s barrier islands and is only a 20 minute drive from Biltmore RV Park; (2) When you get tired of thinking about planning and preparing for that next meal, you’re in great luck because you have so many nearby options of either traditional comfort food chain restaurants (think Bojangle’s, McDonald’s, Zaxby’s), authentic Southern joints like Sweet Potatoes Kitchen, Barnes Restaurant, Betty Bombers or Southern-inspired Haute Cuisine legends like Cotton& Rye, Grey & Mrs. Wilkes Dining Room; (3) Come hauling kayak or canoe and want to get your watercraft a bit wet, well look no further than nearby Salt Creek Park, which will let you access a fairly shallow creek, but nonetheless enjoyable; and (4) One of our most favorite places to visit in all of Savannah is Forsyth Park, which is centrally located in the city and provides for a great green spot to spread out a picnic blanket, take in the sun and cloud-gaze underneath the canopy of ancient Oaks just dripping with Spanish Moss.

  Jekyll Island Campground

  Full-hookups, great scenery, super buggy - even in December!

  We spent a week here and enjoyed it quite a lot. We went in December so there were lots of long-term campers. Most everyone was very friendly. The longterm campsites had signs of the state where they were from, which I found to be a nice touch. Nearly all of them were decked out with holiday lights and decorations which made for a joyful walk at night.

  The sites were fairly close together, but not so much so that you felt like you were sitting on top of one another. Lots of Spanish moss-draped live oak trees and palm frond plants. Sites were full-hook up, a nice laundry facility was on site, as well as a small camp store (though not much for grocery supplies), firewood and bike rentals. Wifi was spotty at best. There was a strong signal, but no speed to speak of.

  The biggest downfalls for me is that it was super buggy - even in December! The gnats were downright vicious. In town pick up a bug spray and candle called Natz (available at the general market) - it works really well and is all natural. It also stunk so bad - some days/times more than others, but that's marshlands for you, so part of the package. The water was drinkable, though also stinky. I used it in my coffee, but couldn't drink it plain, so plan to bring bottled water, especially if you have a sensitive tummy. Oh and the air is so damp and humid, even on sunny days, that NOTHING dries. I couldn't get so much as a hand towel to dry inside or out!

  The campsite is really close to Driftwood Beach, a magical spot that we spent a lot of time at. There's also Sand Dune Beach where you can find lots of sand dollars. We visited at the height of Covid, so didn't explore the town too much, other than the general market. Note: the market is ridiculously overpriced, so make sure to get your groceries and beer/wine before getting onto the island.

  Also - one thing to note, there is a "parking fee" to get onto the island ($8 for cars, $20 for oversized vehicles). Usually it's not too bothersome to get in, but keep an eye on any special events going on so you can beat the crowd. One night coming back to camp from another island, we waited in line for 45 minutes just to get ONTO the island.

  Crooked River State Park Campground

  Wooded Serenity

  Large well maintained campground. All sites are large, well maintained and site specific. Many have full hook ups. New family style bath house and an older bathhouse, both were very clean. Nice walking trails, plenty of playgrounds and very nice boat ramp and mini golf. We stayed on site 39 with a full hook up, small view to the river out back. Very private and large site with direct access to trail along the water. Site 11 has very nice water views but does not have a full hookup. Close to historic St. Marys and ferry to Cumberland Island and about a 45 minute drive to Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island for a nice day trip.

  Camp South RV Park

  All around Wonderful

  Campsites are large, and easy to maneuver, it has a red clay sand base to drive on but even when it's raining it's no issue. The people here are wonderful, the facilities are always clean, power is stable and so is the Wi-Fi. And if you like fishing and farm life it has both.

  My entire stay has been enjoyable, they have both long-term and short-term.

  Relaxing and quiet

  Nice smaller campground, Relaxing and quiet. Has a window of time when boats on jetskis can be on the water allowing for a more peaceful atmosphere in the morning and evening. Down side only 2 sites have full hook up with one being the camp host.. showers and restrooms were clean but without full hookup I expected them to be bigger... 4 showers for 30+ sites on a lake seems light. However we had a wonderful weekend and enjoyed being able to kayak without worrying about boats & jetskis

  Newer campground

  Stayed here after Christmas 2017. Very nice park with full hook ups. Sites are a little close and the fire rings are way to close to the RV sites. The park is adding new amenities. We had such a great time while visiting. The staff was great and they plan many events and cookouts for everyone. Can’t wait to go back.

  We stayed one night, wish it was more! We had a site across from the lake. Nice shady site. Our 33 foot fit with room to spare. Has full hook ups. Restrooms were clean. Definitely would stay again.

  Got this place because Tybee was shut down due to corona. However became one of our favorite places we have visited. Big sites and some are full hook up. Great trails to venture down only down side is nowhere to swim.

  Mcintosh Lake RV Park

  Beautiful lakeside hideaway

  Beautiful little campground where nearly every site has a view of the largeish fishing lake. All sites are natural with no pad, but full hook up. The wifi is good and the staff are cordial. There is a clubhouse for hanging out with TV, computers, and games right on the lake. The grounds are close to I-95 for a quick overnight but far enough from the highway to keep the noise level tolerable. We will be back.

  This was a nice, very well maintained campground. After taxes and fees and park entry fee, we ended up paying $50 for a full hook up back in site, which was a bit much.

  Nice clean showers, laundry, lots of hiking and activities. Good cell service.

  Skidaway Island State Park Campground

  Great campground with a lot to do in the park

  We had a great site a pull thru facing the woods. Site # 75 it had water and electric hook up, cable, picnic table, cement pad and a fire pit. There are some full hook up sites in the park if you want full hook up. Great place to stay!

  We could walk to several hikes in the park from our site.  The ferry trail goes along the water and Sandpiper trail it was nice had a picnic table, a bench and beautiful driftwood. 

  We hiked the Ferry trail too this was awesome. There are several old stills back there it was a moonshiners paradise. There were old oyster shells along the way where the native Americans lived way back when. There is an observation tower at the river/salt marsh the trail along the water is nice and has some history markers. 

  We put the kayak in across the HWY from the park and kayaked back towards the park. Do watch the tides when it goes out you could be hi and dry. 

  Tybee Island is close by we spent an afternoon there during the Pirate Fest in October. 

  We went to Fort Pulaski it is worth going to see. If you walk the outside wall you can still see mortar in the bricks. There’s cannons, and neat things to see there.

  We loved this campground and would return.

  Precious Gem

  We had a quick overnight on our travels towards our destination, but we loved it so much we re-routed our return home plans to come back and spend more than a nights rest. Staff are all so sweet and helpful. But most of all the facility has everything for a family fun time. Leveled, full hook up sites. Heated pool, hot tubs, awesome lazy river, fun kiddie water park, great lake side restaurant/bar. Will highly recommend and will definitely return!

  CreekFire RV Resort

  Lots to do onsite and close to downtown Savannah

  We wanted to stay at Creekfire for a couple reasons: (1) wanted somewhere we haven't been before but not too far from home and (2) I wanted to visit downtown Savannah...Creekfire met both those. It was an easy 4.5 hour drive, right off the highway and about 15 minutes from diwntown Savannah. The RV resort has lots of activities: heated pool, hot tub, lazy river (closed while we were there due to the cold), pool tables, ladder ball, ping pong table, outdoor chess, fishing (lake front sites are definitely our favorites), golf cart rental, picnic table and firepit at site and a shuttle to downtown Savannah on certain days. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Only a couple cons, but for us not worth taking a star away: very few trees (I would imagine in summer the heat and bugs would not make for ideal camping), restaurant is only opened Wednesday-Saturday (we were there Saturday to Wednesday). We will most definitely be back with friends that will be staying in their cabins!

  Southern History

  The park for camping is not well maintained.  We stayed on site 6 which is a new site, full hook up, nice marsh view. Grass was tall in many of the campsites and it was very buggy when we were there.  We did the tour of the fort and that was the highlight of our trip.  Highly recommend the tour. We also visited the Coastal Georgia Botanical Gardens and enjoyed that very much.  Love’s Seafood Restaurant for dinner is close by.

  Happy Campers RV Park

  Quite, close to Ft. Stewart

  Stayed there for 4 nights while bow hunting Ft. Stewart. It's only 15 minutes to the front gate. While we were there it seemed like a pretty quite place, even  on the weekend. Spaces are pretty close to each other and most of the park is permanent buildings which appear to be for long term residences.

  We were not around during the day but at night it was plenty quite. No fire pit but we did have a picnic table. Parking was on a concrete pad next to the RV.

  Cell signal was good on T-Mobile. I recorded download speeds of 57 Mbps and uploads of 1.79 Mbps.

  All and all I'd stay there again the lady I spoke with to make the reservation was quite helpful and emailed a copy of the campground map with directions. We used Passport America so our rate was $24.50 per night. I'd stay there again and likely will on our next hunt.
