Best RV Parks & Resorts near Jacksonville Beach, FL

RV parks around Jacksonville Beach offer paved and gravel sites with full hookups. Flamingo Lake RV Resort provides 50-amp service, water, and sewer connections on level pads that accommodate vehicles up to 40 feet with slideouts. Pecan Park RV Resort features concrete pads with diagonal pull-through sites arranged in a grid pattern. At Pelican Roost RV Park, waterfront sites include 50-amp electrical service, water hookups, and sewer connections with picnic tables. Sun Outdoors St. Augustine, located south of Jacksonville Beach, has three different camping sections with full-hookup sites including The Grove, The Pond, and The Oasis. "Compass RV Resort was easy to get to. Check in was a breeze as they came out to our rig and gave us a good rundown on the CG then escorted us to site 126 in the newer Oasis area."

Many RV parks in this region have distinctive road layouts that require careful navigation. Pull-through sites tend to fill quickly during winter months when snowbirds migrate to Florida's warmer climate. Most campgrounds maintain dump stations and offer propane refill services, though availability varies by location. Cell service can be inconsistent throughout the area, with one reviewer noting: "Excellent cell service, both Sprint and Verizon - great for using a hotspot for internet/streaming. Park Wifi is too weak for streaming." Pet restrictions differ between facilities, with some parks prohibiting certain dog breeds. Naval Air Station Jacksonville offers military camping with full hookups but requires proper military ID for base access. Roadside noise can be significant at parks located near I-95 or I-295, particularly those in the northwest section of Jacksonville.

    4 Lakes Campground

Little Gem Close to St Augustine

This is just a two year old gated campground. Fire pits, pull through (some with lake view) and back in sites. Gravel sites outlying level with full hook-ups 30/50 amp, sewer, water and satellite cable tv, grills and picnic tables. There is a rec room and small office that also sells firewood along with limited items. No swimming yet but you are able to drop a fishing line. It’s just 17-20 miles from Saint Augustine. I recommend giving it a try, very friendly and accommodating staff.

    Ocean Grove RV Resort

South Side Ancient City Roadside RV Resort

What I love about Ocean Grove is that it puts you smack dab due south of St. Augustine (a.k.a. Ancient City), but far enough away where you can get away from the noise, traffic and otherwise touristy area of the country’s oldest city. While the downside is that this roadside RV stand is, well, located roadside and in fact, right on the AIA, it does place you within a few minutes’ drive to some of the best beaches, like Crescent Beach, which is only 4 blocks away. Given that this is a fairly well-known attractive area known for its beaches and southern way of seaside life, there’s also no shortage of tiki bars, fish shacks and taco stands to choose from, all within walking distance.

As for the RV Resort itself, Ocean Grove lives up to the word ‘resort’ given all the amenities that you’ll find here, especially the very well-maintained, amazingly massive heated in-ground pool, gargantuan paved patio deck (with separate area for dining) complete with patio chairs, umbrellas and lounge chaises, along with the overgrown group-sized bubbling hot tub, in addition to offering a very well-stocked market store, restaurant and bar (can anyone say “Mai Tais poolside, por favor?!”) as well as perhaps its most impressive asset, offering direct water access to the Intracoastal (along with kayak rentals, in case you forgot yours).

Additional amenities include: basketball and bocce ball courts, coin-operated laundr-O-mat (complete with community book exchange / library), billiards and foosball tables, propane refilling station, pull-through and back-in RV slots complete with full hook-ups (30 / 50 amp electric, sewer and water), perfectly level paved RV pads to park on, picnic tables, horseshoe ring, fishing pier on the San Julian river, lagoon with turtle watching, children’s playground, doggie park with designated dog run, boat ramp, RV / boat / jet ski storage area, complimentary WiFi, large picnic pavilion, cable TV (additional charge), golf cart parking, designated dumpsters, community fire pit (the only place on the premises where fires area allowed), recreation hall with A/C and oversized wall-mounted TVs, heated and air-conditioned bath houses with showers. Extra points here for Ocean Grove providing a gated entry point with actual staff that adds additional layers of security, important given the proximity to the AIA.

Insider’s tips? Here’s a few: (1) IMHO the best spots here at Ocean Grove are those that are waterfront: F138–F141 next to the fishing pier or J100–J126; (2) One of the very few detractors at this place is that of the 208 RV slots available, you will notice that Ocean Grove attempts to make every square inch count, so no matter where you are parked, there won’t be a ton of privacy and your hook-ups will feel very crowded (sewage line right next to the picnic table, hmm, not very enticing to say the least!); (3) When you get tired of trying to figure out what that next meal is going to be when staring down at your mini-fridge or cooler, then check out some local haunts, like Salt Water Cowboy (where anything from the Land, Sea and Swamp section like fried Alligator is pretty amazing), World Famous Oasis Restaurant or Connolly’s Shore Grill for fresh caught seafood; and (4) If you are looking for a decent place to do some great hiking, then look no further than due southwest of Ocean Grove where you can check out Matanzas State Park, that has miles and miles of unspoiled hiking trails with virtually the entire place to yourself (save the deer and gators that you might come across).

    Horne Lake RV Resort

    Peaceful Paddles and Lakeside Charm

Sitting about as close as you can to the Florida / Georgia state line, Horne Lake RV Resort near Yulee, FL offers up a serene stop for RVers looking for a laid-back 182-acre retreat just minutes from I95 (exit 380). The atmosphere here is more ‘friendly neighborhood park with a lake’ than backwoods wilderness that is more of a pitstop than a destination, but don’t let that fool you with a setting that is charming, calm and perfect for those who like a mix of easy access and natural surroundings. First impressions are tidy pavement pads, tree-lined roads, narrow gravel pathways and a central pond that anchors the entire campground with a reflective calm that immediately slows your pulse after a long spell on the road buzzing up or down the busiest thoroughfare in all of FL - I95.

The facilities here are geared toward comfort with sites offering 73 paved, pull-through sites full hookup with water, sewer, and 30 / 50 amp electric, with most spots being level, spacious and easy to navigate. While there aren’t true lakefront sites here, the namesake is accessible by foot or a short drive, offering plenty of opportunities to stroll down, cast a line or watch the birds. Restrooms and shower facilities are well-kept, laundry is available, there's a proper dump station, community fire pit near the office, propane refueling station and the WiFi holds up for streaming or remote work. There’s also a clubhouse with community activities and shaded picnic areas if you want to mingle and on the southern flank of the property’s perimeter is a saltwater pool that is heated year-round. The park is pet-friendly, so Fido can make friends too, and the paved internal roads are handy for morning walks or bike rides.

The lake itself is modest in size and more of a large pond than a sprawling body of water, but it’s stocked with bass, catfish and bream, making it an inviting spot for anglers who prefer a calm, easy cast albeit with a catch & release requirement. Birdwatchers will enjoy spotting herons, egrets, and osprey, while turtles and the occasional otter round out the wildlife sightings. Further up the road, the broader Brunswick area adds layers of charm with historic squares, the nearby Marshes of Glynn and barrier island day trips to stellar isles like St. Simons, Jekyll and Sea Island are all within reach. And if you’re craving something hearty after a day of exploring, local favorites like Willie Jewell’s Old School Bar-B-Q and Bob’s Famous BBQ for sublime, slow-smoked Q, Bohemian Bull for gastropub fare, Grumpy’s serving up fantastic low-country breakfast & brunch and Añejo Cocina with superb chimichangas serve up some of the best food in Yulee.

Insider Tips? Here’s a few: (1) If fishing’s on your agenda, bring lightweight tackle for bass and bream when early mornings and evenings are best; (2) The nearby Brunswick Golden Isles welcome center is a fantastic stop for maps, local history and birdwatching guides; (3) Kayakers can launch into the pond, but if you want real water adventures, head to the Altamaha River or out to St. Simons for bigger paddles; (4) Don’t skip a stroll around the lake at sunset as the reflections of the trees on the water are pure tranquility; (5) Bug spray is a must in summer, especially around the pond edges; and (6) If you need to stock up, there’s a Walmart Supercenter and Home Depot along with plenty of grocery options within 10 minutes of the park back in Yulee, so convenience is never an issue.

    Pecan Park RV Resort

    Gridlike RV Highway Pitstop

This is a state-of-the-art RV destination, easily accessed by exiting I-95 and driving westward for less than a minute. Located just due north of Jacksonville, you'll be able to easily spot Pecan Park just as you exit all of the busy traffic(as you head northerly) and city mayhem to Florida's largest city. What this RV parking lot lacks in terms of personality, sense of community and absence of unmanicured natural surroundings makes up for in terms of ease of accessibility from the country's busiest east coast highways and brand spanking newness. While not a destination IMHO, this gigantic concrete paved, diagonally slanted RV parking lot might be a good place to layover as you are traveling to your ultimate destination.

The office, grounds, recreation area(s), laundry room, restrooms / shower facilities and adjoining pool are all fairly brand new and very well kept. The pet-friendly RV park itself is incredibly organized in single-lined fashioned with 1-way directions keeping the flow orderly. There’s decent space between slots for both parking and makeshift outdoor living with plenty of room to roll-out the shade from your RV home from the perfectly poured and 100% level concrete pad you will be parked on. While there’s not a lot of attractions around the park, its proximity to I-95 makes this very attractive for a single night layover. And if you've got your fishing pole and looking for a little distraction, there is a nearby lake, albeit small, for some interesting catch & release fishing. Other amenities include: picnic tables, stone-encased fire rings, full hook-ups (20 / 30 / 50 amp electric, water and sewage), back-in and pull-through slots to chose from, WiFi, LP gas, horseshoe pit and on-site storage.

Insider's tips? Here's a few: (1) As this is not a destination location, I would recommend you get in late and leave early in order to make the most of your time enjoying the location you are really traveling towards; (2) If you are planning on staying here at Pecan Park for any length of time and want to explore some of the great natural surroundings around Jacksonville, I highly recommend checking out the following (all of which are less than 20 minutes from this RV parking lot): Amelia Island SP, Big Talbot Island SP, Pumpkin Hill Creek Preserve SP, Little Talbot Island SP; (3) Should you want to explore some great local Florida beaches, head on over to Atlantic Beach which is the northernmost beach in Jacksonville otherwise, you can hit up Huguenot Memorial Park, which has some pretty cool beach access due north of Atlantic Beach over near Mayport where you can see his might Naval installation; (4) Should you need to load up on supplies or groceries while at Pecan Park, if you head due east on Pecan Park Road and south on Main Street, you'll find a Publix in the Duval Station Center; and (5) While you are sitting next to I95, there's actually not much there apart from Love's Travel Stop, but if you head south and get off on the very next exit, you'll hit the comfort food jackpot that includes: Chili's, Chick-Fil-A, Cracker Barrel, Salsas, Olive Garden, BJ's, Mellow Mushroom, Carraba's, Starbucks, Moe's Southwestern, Longhorn, Ruby Tuesday, 5 Guys (and the list goes on).

    Sun Outdoors St. Augustine

This Highway RV Resort Packs a Punch w/ Tons of Amenities

Formerly known as Compass RV Resort, Sun Outdoors of St. Augustine is an RV mega-resort paradise in the midst of Old Florida, placing you in very close proximity to both the cobblestone streets of the touristy oldest city in the nation (a.k.a. Ancient City) as well as the amazing white powder sand beaches of northern Florida. Located just a stone’s throw from the busiest transport artery in all of Florida (I95), whether you’ve just come down from the north to grab some warmth and sunshine or heading further afield as part of a larger trip, Sun Outdoors makes both a good pit stop as well as a spot that you might want to drop anchor for several nights.

You can’t call an otherwise RV parking lot a ‘resort’ without throwing down a number of amenities and Sun Outdoors – a chain of RV pit stops throughout the country with dizzying amounts of distractions and add-ons – will deliver on this front easily. From offering the basics like back-in and pull-through well-paved, flat RV slots (there’s more than 160 spots to choose from) with gravel pads and all the full hook-ups (20 / 30 / 50 amp electric, sewage and water) offering solo, patio and buddy sites. There’s 3 different sections to this park each offering up a slightly different experience, including: The Grove, The Pond and The Oasis. In addition to standard pet-friendly hook-ups, all sites provide complimentary cable and WiFi, fire ring with foldable BBQ rack and picnic tables as well as full access to spartan cleaned restroom and shower facilities as well as other community amenities (see more below).

Additional amenities include: spacious dog park, heated in-ground swimming pool, nature trails that encircle the resort, fitness center, coin-operated laundr-O-mat, on-site storage, corn hole, gazebo / picnic area, clubhouse as well as catch & release fishing in the small pond on-site. And if you don’t have an RV, don’t worry, the good folks here at Sun Outdoors will rent you one of two versions of newly fabricated 1BR mobile homes. Bonus points additionally as Sun Outdoors is protected by a remote-control operated entrance gate, along with a main office (where you’ll check-in) that is fully staffed around the clock adding extra layers of security.

Insider’s tips? (1) If you’re a golfing fanatic (and admittedly, I am not), then you are in luck as just a bit further up north on I95 you’ll come across World Golf Village, where in addition to offering up Buccee’s and CostCo for all your camping and shopping needs (where a Home Depot and Bass Pro Fishing will be installed shortly), there’s also World Golf Hall of Fame featuring exhibits and displays of the sport; (2) For the history buffs, there’s Castille de San Marcos National Monument, which is one of the oldest stone masonry fortifications in the western hemisphere (let alone the US) originally founded by the Spanish way; (3) While you might be living the blues inside your RV or simply want to replace the sound of highway traffic with something more pleasant, you can actually just head up the street and listen to the blues at probably one of the coolest outdoor venues in the country at St. Augustine Ampitheater; (4) If you are looking for a decent place to do some great hiking, then look no further than due south of Sun Outdoors where you can check out Matanzas State Park, that has miles and miles of unspoiled hiking trails with virtually the entire place to yourself (save the deer and gators that you might come across); (5) If you’ve forgot anything, while there’s an on-site market here at Sun Outdoors, there’s also a Dollar General Store and slightly further down the road, a Publix; (6) Carrying watercraft and looking for a nice spot to hit the water? Then I HIGHLY recommend Princess Place Preserve that offers access to the Matanzas and Tolomato Rivers as well as Pellicer Creek; and (7) Lastly, if you are craving some great local fare and too tired to figure out what that next meal is, then I highly recommend these local favorite joints: Scoop for ice cream, Sunday for brunch, Munch for an assortment of food trucks and St. Augustine Fish House& Oyster Company for amazing fresh seafood with great Intracoastal water views overlooking St. Augustine.

    Kelly's Countryside RV Park

    Clean and level, very safe

Northwest of Jacksonville, FL, not far from the Jacksonville Airport. Excellent cell service, both Sprint and Verizon - great for using a hotspot for internet/streaming. Park Wifi is too weak for streaming. Clean laundry room that uses quarters. Full hook ups with 50 amp service. Level sites on grass. Many residents and some snowbirds, plus short stayers and overnighters. We stayed a week unexpectedly after a city park reservation was found to be both unsuitable and undesirable. Gracious office staff and a quiet park. Go north on the highway it's on about 5 miles to a nice Winn-Dixie grocery store near Hilliard.

    Sunny Oaks RV Park

The Sunny Side of RV Living

While very conveniently located just off I95 in NW Jacksonville area, Sunny Oaks provides incredibly easy off-road access to park your RV for the night. In under 1 minute, you will be exiting a very heavily-trafficked interstate and find yourself in a secluded, family-owned fenced-in an RV-riddled maze that is, despite its proximity to heavy traffic, surprisingly quiet. There’s a proper office where you’ll check-in, secure your numbered parking place and be given all of the information that you need to successfully park for the night.

Amenities include all the typical hook-ups (water, 50 amp electric and sewage), high speed WiFi, scattered pavilions and BBQ pits with picnic tables (so group picnicking, but no individual picnic tables are available), laundr-O-mat all in a quiet, wooded forest setting. This place offers holiday-themed events featuring Easter BBQ and a Halloween haunted house. The bathouses are relatively decent offering a his / hers 2 toilet and 2 shower facilities along with 4 combined outdoor showers. The place is dog-friendly and even has a small playground for the kiddos as well as a clubhouse with a proper exercise room, work / office cubicles, family room w/ TV’s, boardgames and even a game room.

Insider’s tips? If you have the opportunity, head on over to Hana Park for some first-rate city park escapes that include camping, kayaking, swimming and biking options. I also highly recommend, if you have the time, to check out Amelia Island State Park (to the south) or Little Talbot Island for some excellent beachheads, proper tent camping (again) as well as numerous hiking, swimming and boating excursions. Lastly, if you’re looking for a great place to grab some local grub, check out Woodpecker’s Backyard BBQ for quite possibly the best BBQ you will ever eat here in FL (or perhaps anywhere!).

    Happy Camping!

Guide to Jacksonville Beach

Jacksonville Beach RV campgrounds offer diverse camping experiences that extend beyond standard full-hookup sites. The region features a mix of military-exclusive facilities, family-friendly resorts, and convenient highway-accessible parks. Winter temperatures typically range from 45-70°F, while summer months can reach 90°F with high humidity and frequent afternoon thunderstorms.

What to do

Beach access options: Military campers at Pelican Roost RV Park have exclusive access to on-base beach areas. "Down the road, about a mile is beach access that was very nice. (I'm not an expert on beaches but the dogs were allowed and it wasn't crowded. There's a rock wall where several people were fishing)," explains reviewer Shelly S.

Waterfront activities: Many campgrounds feature on-site water activities beyond swimming. "Flamingo lake is a blast, most notably for the inflatable slides. The kids go absolutely crazy and can't get enough of the water park area. The beach area is great for picnics and swimming," shares Sean B. at Flamingo Lake RV Resort.

Historic exploration: St. Augustine's attractions are accessible via shuttle services from some campgrounds. "The resort has a deal with Old Town Trolley where they will pick you up from the office and take you into historic town. One thing they don't tell you is to keep your ticket stub for a cheaper rate if you go back within 5 days," advises reviewer Deb P. from Compass RV Park.

What campers like

Quiet waterfront views: Military campers appreciate Osprey Cove for its peaceful setting. "Well maintained, shaded and quiet," notes Shelly S. The campground is "located in the back of a housing area and the sites are surrounded by grass... It has more of a neighborhood feel than campground."

Clean, modern facilities: Recent renovations at several parks have improved shower and bathroom facilities. "The bathrooms are outdated but they were clean most of the time. Laundry room was a little hot, and little pricy," mentions Kurtess R. about facilities at Flamingo Lake.

On-site entertainment: Campgrounds frequently organize activities for guests. "They have concerts every Saturday night," notes Debbie P. from Flamingo Lake. "Have stayed here several times, very comfortable. They have entertainment on some weekends and a large fire pit near the pool for groups and cook outs," says Mack W. about Compass RV Park.

What you should know

Military restrictions: Several quality campgrounds near Jacksonville Beach require military credentials. "This Naval base rec site is probably our favorite so far. Being on a military base the beach is secluded and semi private," explains Rachel C. about Pelican Roost RV Park, adding "This is a popular one, so it is hard to find a spot."

Airport noise considerations: When selecting sites at Pecan Park RV Resort, be aware of proximity to flight paths. "Nice place except for the planes and jets. Wake you in the night," cautions Karen C. Another camper advises: "It's close to I95 and one exit from the airport, so expect a lot of plane noises and flyover by the airforce."

Internet connectivity varies: Cell service and WiFi strength fluctuate significantly between parks. "The cell service (for both T-Mobile and Verizon) didn't work very well, and the Wi-Fi is iffy at best," reports Daniel G. about Compass RV Park, while at other parks, connectivity is much stronger.

Tips for camping with families

Water recreation amenities: Families specifically seek out parks with water activities. "The clear water of the lake and the tranquil atmosphere may this campground a great place to camp any time of year. The activities keep you busy and the lake and pool offer options for relaxing," recommends Cathy D. about Flamingo Lake RV Resort.

Playground facilities: Several parks offer dedicated play areas for children. "Lots of things for kids to do at the campground (pool, playground, cornhole, ping pong table, fishing pond, etc)," notes Daniel G. about his stay at Compass RV Park.

Security considerations: Some neighborhoods surrounding parks require awareness. "The part that we didn't like was the side of town The Flamingo Resort is on a dangerous city, the Walmart was not safe at night. So it's good as long as you stay in the gated rv resort," cautions Kurtess R.

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategies: RV campers recommend specific areas within parks for optimal experience. At Stagecoach RV Park, Lawrence Robert T. notes: "All the sites were pull-thrus and level which made set up easy. There were a few trees giving us shade from the hot FL sun."

Travel timing: Some parks offer seasonal promotions worth planning around. "We got a first visit special buy one night get second night free!" shares Catherine A. about Compass RV Park.

Parking assistance: Many parks provide arrival support. "Once at the campsite the staff member was happy to assist with getting parked as needed. He then spent a couple of minutes going over amenities and general housekeeping," explains Randal F. regarding check-in procedures at Compass RV Park.
