    Fair Harbor RV Park

Private even though it's right off the interstate

Absolutely love Fair harbor! The staff is great, they have a little store that sells amenities and lots of basic camping gear. Have 24 hour laundry, multiple showers with amazing water pressure, and multi stall and private bath houses including handicap access. A private [stocked] lake that toured welcome to fish, without needing a license. They have lots of permanent campers here, who pay their lot rent and have their own electric meter. In a standard RV site all amenities are included, water hookup, sewer, electric with 110, 30 and 50 amp hookups, cable and wifi! As well as little cabins for rent. Also horse stables and storage if you stay longer!

    Dames Ferry State Park Campground

    Great Park!!

We stayed in site #16. I gave it 4 stars just because of the road noise

    Pros:

    • Spectacular view of the lake
    • Clean bathhouse
    • Site is partially fenced and the pad is level.
    • Very friendly host
    • Not far from hiking trails in
    • Cell phone service (spotty in the campground. 4+ bars on the site with t-mobile)
    • Plenty of room for chairs, gear and a fence for the dogs
    • Firepit down by the lake
    • Easy to get kayaks into the water
    • 20 minutes from major retailers (Lowes, Walmart, etc.)

    Cons :

    • Not a lot of shade covering our site
    • Road noise as others have stated. Not a deal breaker. There are grooves on the shoulder of the road and when you drive over them it makes an annoying sound
    • Site is closer to others than I care to be
    • Quiet, but it's winter. I imagine it's more active in the summer
    • I'm not sure about the quality of the water. There is a GA Power plant close by and I read an article about possible contamination from the smoke stacks. Do your research.

Overall we had a great experience and we would definitely come back again. Many of the sites are on the lake and I haven't seen one I would not stay in. They do have some construction going on near the dump station. Whatever they're doing they're quiet about it.

    Woodsy and quiet

Only 5 RV sites. First come first serve. Fortunately end of November not busy. Spacious sites with fire pit, grill, and picnic table. Bathrooms are rustic, not well kept, not much hot water. Overall park is not well kept, but great sites, small beach area, and nice lake area.

Beautiful trail next to the water!

We tent camped here on site 112 on the lakeside camping area. We had a view of the lake and enjoyed renting a double kayak from the state park. Bathhouse was clean. Sites on lake are spaced apart a little more than river campground. We will try sites 87 or 88 on the river next time.

    Fair Harbor RV Park

    Great Park!

This place is HUGE!! As others have said, the sites are a little close together and there's some traffic noise, but neither bothered me very much - I was real close to the road too, so not that bad at all. I was quite comfortable the two days I stayed here. They have a little convenience store with camping gear you may have forgotten (or didn't know you needed!), souvenirs, food, and other essentials. The bathrooms are nice and there are some on-site fun to be had with a basketball hoop and playground.

    Fair Harbor RV Park

Fair Harbor is truly a Fair Harbor for RV travelers!

These people do it alll right from clean convenient bathrooms to a lovely park atmosphere even though RV slots are fairly close together. (Clearly a popular place for many regulars! And i see why with its quality & convenience..close to the interstate exit.) Did i mention the bathrooms were sooo nice & clean with all the helpful details like nice tile seat in each shower and more? They were so helpful and kind on the phone as we were first time/last minute guests on a rainy night making sure we knew which exit to take! Oh, yes and there is a pretty fountain in the little lake just for fun! (Bonus: Cracker Barrel right nearby!)
