At the intersection of the Suwannee and Withlacoochee rivers, patches of rain lilies spring up on earthen mounds built to defend against Union Navy gunboats. Sunwannee River Campground is alive with history. Visitors can see remnants of a nineteenth-century steamship and two ghost towns that have been reclaimed by the sandhill wilderness, which is home to diverse and imperiled native species. On foot or by canoe, experiencing the park’s historical significance is its own timeless reward.
We had a wonderful time at this CG! 5 star bath-houses. Great Canoeing down the beautiful Suwanee. We went in May and really had no bugs. The site was a little small, but was fine and shaded. Lots of HUGE Class A's in and out… fun to watch! Sneaky squirrels that will take your half a burger while you try to set up camp, we had a great laugh about that!
This was a great find! Beautiful views of the river and lots of trails to enjoy. The camping facilities were very well-kept. Would definitely recommend checking it out!
Great beach to keep boats over night. Very clean and nice facilities. Wonderful staff! Great trees for hammocking!!
Electric and water hook ups. Camping sites are large enough for 2 tents. Shaded well. There’s a decent boat ramp with over flow parking for the truck and trailer. Great for kayaking and Small boating. Trails are great for hiking and a few for mountain biking. Neat cemetery back in the grass lands near ranger station, lots of tortoises to see. Pet friendly for domestic pets. Ranger station was very helpful and knowledgeable about trails for longer distance biking. Wood for sale. Hot water bath house as well. Site has picnic tables. Very clean area.
Suwanee River State Park is very scenic and had a very good time they have Lots of hiking trails some have really nice wooden docks Throughout the trails
camping here was one of our first camping trips and we have learned a lot since that trip. when we went they were very busy because they had an event going on and the sites were kinda close together.the sights weren't bad to look at though.
A couple of nice hiking trails. Boat launch.
Stayed at site 029 in our tent with our family of 5. We loved it. The campground was quiet, relaxing, and shaded. The park, and bathroom was well maintained and very clean. There is a train that comes roughly 2 times a night after midnight. Kids all slept through it so no problem there. Decent little swimming area to the side of the boat ramp. We loved the hikes went on 3 of them. There were a few more we didn't have time to explore. Don't miss out on the hiking though really cool trails! We went on a 7 mile canoe trip reccomended to us by our campground host. Cost was not too much and we were shuttled up stream. We loved staying here!
Small campground with full hookups, pet friendly, boat ramp. Beautiful trails. Nice playground and seating area facing the river.
