Quiet camping in the "real" Florida
General: 30-site campground, all with full hookups (water, electric - 30 and 50 amp - and sewer). Two of the sites are handicap accessible with concrete driveways; the others are gravel. There are also cabins which looked very nice. We received a call from the ranger since the ranger station would close before our arrival letting us know the gate code (although it turned out the gate was still open), and where to pick up our hang tag and park information.
Site Quality: All sites appeared to be level. Not much privacy/separation between sites and with the exception of one of the handicapped sites, it was full when we were there on a weekday at the end of October. A picnic table and fire grate complete the site.
Bathhouse: Very clean. Didn’t use the shower so cannot comment on them but they looked very clean.
Activities/Amenities: Several hiking trails, most of them short in length but there was one 12.5-mile trail. The trails are all well-marked. There is also a boat ramp. Nice modern washer and dryer for a very reasonable cost of $1.50 each
This was just an overnight stopover for us but we did walk partway on Lime Sink Run, Balanced Rock, and Suwanee River Trails. It looks like they are making improvements to the park, including a wooden boardwalk and a new bridge on the Suwanee River Trail. If there was more separation/privacy between sites, would have given this four stars.
