Awesome Oceanfront Camping

It’s a five day stay, Awesome RV Campground. We have an Oceanfront site, that have an awesome general store, the pool has a chiller and it is cool an refreshing. Out of 5 stars I give them a 6!! Only downsides were water pressure was a little weak and WI-FI signal was weak too

Clean!

Clean bathrooms, showers and grounds. Super friendly and helpful people who run the campground. It has a waterfront and boat access. It has a short trail out of camp and short quiet bike ride on road. It is a bit expensive but I think most of them are. It is close to the main road and a bridge. It’s only drawback I can find is the noise from the main road.

Great Lower Keys Location with Great Amenities

We stayed at Big Pine Key from January 21- February 08th of 2022. We had a small trailer camper, Clam screen tent, an outdoor kitchen set-up and hammocks. There was a nice heavy picnic table on the site. Our site was on the channel and provided us with plenty of space for our setup. It had electric and water. There are many wonderful amenities including a pool, laundry room, recreation area with ping pong and a pool table, a nice store with provisions, a community fire pit area, and great walking trails directly off of the rustic tent camping area which runs along the beach. We brought our two Labrador Retrievers with us and felt comfortable with them at all times. Everyone was friendly and respectful. Big Pine Key is a great location for recreation or amenities. It is just 30 minutes to Key West or Marathon. We are already scheduled to go back in January of 2023 for a longer stay.

Great spot . Need some love from owners and be careful for no see ems

Great location. Tent part of camping is sad. U cant have own fire , u cant even use that picnic table for grill. I would never again camp there in spring summer time. No see ems flies will eat u alive !!! There is a 1000000 of them. They need to take care little of that coast “ beach part “ dirty stinky. Its primitive camping and i dont think so it is worth 100$ a night? For what? There is fire every night for everyone who camp there together. Something fun should be add to that place. If you cant have fire or grill and u have to be quiet so U dont disturb ppl around. U just go there sleep and thats it. Its great location but they should give some love to that place.

Zero Stars- Racist staff and locals

Find a better place. Racist staff and locals. My family and I came for the first time to this park to celebrate my birthday. We were enjoying our time at the pool listening to our radio when Karen complained that we needed to turn our music off. We had asked the office if we were allowed to have our radio and we were told that we could.“Karen did not like that and came back a minute later with Allen“maintenance manager“ who told us that we had to turn our radio off and not to harass his guest. When I went back to the office I was then told the problem was that we were playing Spanish music(which we weren’t). Needless to say we will never return. Follow up- Manager Vicky was to busy to speak with me when I retuned the next morning. We were to told that if we didn’t like it that we needed to find a hotel or somewhere else to go.

Great Spot For The Lady & I

Drop in the kayak and enjoy the day. Great campsite that’s clean and friendly. Can’t be loud here after 10pm which stinks, but other than that it’s great.

Location is amazing

Great view, amazing island hiking, friendliest people, super helpful camp store (groceries, fishing and camping supplies)-they booked us for a 30 amp site instead of 50 but they had adapters available. Beach is more for laying out not swimming but they have a pool. Perfect kayak launch, boat launch/marina, and bridge fishing. Only complaint is how incredibly tight it all is. We had a helluva time maneuvering our 35ft tt into space- had to have four neighbors move their vehicles and lots of help. Landscaping is pretty but trees on each site aren’t really slide out friendly. For a smaller rig, it wouldn’t be a problem. Will definitely stay here again!!

Cozy Keys campground

Stayed her for one night in mid-March. Our original reservation had been for two nights. We arrived late and didn't fit in the spot that had been reserved for us. They were able to fit us into another spot for the night but that spot was unavailable the second night so we had to leave.

Park was nice with rigs close to each other. Our spot was one row away from the water. Spectacular stars at night and a great firepit to sit around. Saw some Key Deer as well!

Would recommend as long as you don't mind being close to neighbors.

Great experience

The staff was exceptionally helpful and happy. Very clean and I met great people camping there. They do a campfire every night and the stars were amazing. The location was great-very close to Bahai Honda state park and right on the water. The pool was a delight and the bathhouse was very clean. The only down side was there is no grass in the RV and camping areas so it was a bit dusty but other than this it was perfect!

We love this spot!

After calling 6+ other campgrounds in the Keys to find a site for 2 night we came across Big Pine Key Fishing Lodge on our drive to Key West. They had an open site available! And it was cheaper then other campgrounds in the Keys We were right across from the water, an awesome view with the bridge. There is also a nature walk there that we explored. The amenities including the heated pool felt like luxury!! Can’t forget about the Key Deer, they were adorable and quite friendly with us! Highly recommend this spot!!

Nice campground

The rustic campground is very clean, but a little far from the restrooms. The rest of the campground is mostly made up of senior citizens that visit every year. Lots of interesting people to talk to. The beach is ok for launching kayaks and the boat launch is good for smaller boats.

Great place great staff just sold

What a great place. Ground is hard packed limestone so bring a hammer and heavy stakes. Can get really windy. Bathrooms can be a hike from rustic sites so a bike is key. Very clean. Very friendly. Fires aloud at rustic sites. 40 minutes to key west. Kayak fishing heaven.

A bit disappointing.

I came as a drive-in camper with a tent. The facility is nice on approach. Staff is pleasant. The campsite was waterfront, facing the Overseas Highway. Noise was not so bad from the highway, which was initially my fear. There is a swimming pool which is quite nice and a lounge, also nice. Bathrooms are clean and accessible, though a bit far from where the tent campsites are. There seems to be a campfire every night. Gas. Turns on. But charming and a nice place to relax.

There are three significant issues I had.

First, it is a parking lot. Sandy parking lot. There is nothing particularly scenic or attractive about pitching a tent in a parking lot, even if it’s waterfront. Second, the water that fronted the campsite is pretty overgrown with aquatic vegetation. Also fairly unattractive and a bonanza for bugs. Third, bugs. Bugs. Bugs. Lots of bugs. Did I mention bugs? Even with a good slathering of 100% DEET, came out with dozens of bites.

Overall, would I return? No. Would I recommend the camping there? Possibly for RV’s. Not so great from a drive-in camper’s perspective.

Nice campground on the Atlantic Ocean

We stayed here a week our site #99 is right on the water next to the fire pit. Nice view with full hook up, a picnic table, sites are tight with no privacy. This site faces the Atlantic so we weren’t facing another camper. The pool and clubhouse are nice and the laundry room has 5 washers and dryer’s. There is a boat ramp, fish cleaning station, docks for you boat and they sell gas for your boat.

The deer walk up to you    that’s nice. The office and store are nice lots of good things in there prices were good. We saw some sunrises and sunsets from our site. The bonfire pit is nice it’s propane so no smell which was nice. They turn it on every evening till 10:00.

The campground is maintained well, clean bath house, pool, clubhouse and laundry room very clean. There is a dish cleaning station next to an outside shower, for tent campers.

Over in the primitive camping area there’s a trail you can walk along the water lots of deer hoof prints, and derelict crab bouys. It’s a nice trail to walk there are sand spurs so wear shoes.

The entire week we were there it was windy we had lots of seaweed blow in it does smell. Hardly anyone was there mid oct.  They store campers there too lots of snow birds come for the winter.

On Big pine key there’s a Winn Dixie, 2 hardware stores, the Big Pine Rooster restaurant, cocos has great Cubans, Trinaos taco truck, and drive out to the north name pub they have good pizza and homemade sangria. Bahia Honda state park is across the bridge it’s a nice place to spend a day. On Marathon Porky’s has a good breakfast and barbecue, the Sunset grill has good she crab soup, and the Keys Fishery good raw bar upstairs and cooked food downstairs.

I gave this campground a 4 star review due to no swim beach.

Loved it

Very family friendly. Had a pool, game room with a pool table and ping pong. Lots of board games and a tv watching room. There is a really pretty nature trail as well. Beautiful area that is close to Bahia Honda state park, sombrero beach, and key west. We already reserved our spot for next year.

Great views, nice amenities!

Pros: great staff, great views, very nice amenities (modern and clean), good price for the area

Cons: little privacy, could use toilets closer to the rustic tent area

Overall, this was a great campground.  I was able to get the most private tent site in the campground, the very last one next to their (gorgeous) nature trail on the ocean.  The site was directly on the water, we could hear the ocean all night and we had wonderful views.  Note that it isn't a beach - a lot of decaying sea grass all along those ocean sites, so it not good for swimming or fishing.  But there are nice swimming areas near the campground, so it wasn't a huge loss.  And the woman who booked the reservation on the phone w/ me made it clear that while it was oceanside, it was not a nice swimming area.

There were lots of nice amenities throughout the campground - very nice clean, and modern bathrooms and showers (which were free!), a rooftop swimming pool, a recreation area, an observation platform over the marsh, and free morning coffee.  There was also a fully stocked camp store with lots of great items at fair prices.  On our last day we were disappointed to see that they had a GREAT selection of snorkel gear at super fair prices - we paid 3x what they were asking at a big dive store in the area because we didn't think to check their store.  Make sure you look around there first if you need anything!

One thing that I would have loved would be a bathhouse (even just toilets!) in the rustic tent camping area.  The one shower/bath house was in the RV part of the campground, and was about a 10 minute walk from the tent area, which is not ideal in the middle of the night.

While we were there, there was lots of construction going on, so lots of noise during the day (luckily we left for Key West or the local state parks in the daytime), and sites that had construction equipment.  That wasn't ideal, but since the campground is open year round there isn't really any way around it.  If that is important to you, you may want to check with them to see if those projects are finished.

There are also key deer in the campground.  They are super curious and will come right up to you!  We just made sure not to pet or feed them.

Overall, great campground - if we stay in the Keys again we will totally return!
