Best RV Parks & Resorts near Manchester, CT

Multiple RV campgrounds operate within 30 miles of Manchester, Connecticut, including Sun Outdoors Mystic with electric hookups and 50-amp service. Countryside RV Park in Griswold provides full hookups with sewer connections and accommodates big rigs, operating from May 1 to October 15. Aces High RV Park in East Lyme features spacious sites with concrete pads, full hookup utilities, and water views at premium locations. Ross Hill RV Park offers both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical connections with water hookups and dump station access. Sites at most parks include picnic tables and fire rings, with varying degrees of privacy between neighboring RVs. "Sites were large enough for RV. NO privacy, but tent sites were ok. Few showers for number of campsites, but very clean," noted one camper about Lake Compounce Campground.

Connecticut RV parks typically require advance reservations, especially during summer weekends and fall foliage season. Several campgrounds maintain limited operating seasons, with most closing between mid-October and April. Cell service varies significantly between locations, with some parks offering Wi-Fi for an additional fee. Pine Lake RV Resort provides 230 sites with 50-amp electrical service, though a review mentioned reception issues: "Cell reception is not great. Camp link Wifi for a fee is workable unless you need to do zoom calls." Pet policies differ between facilities, with most allowing dogs but enforcing leash rules and designated pet areas. RV storage options are generally unavailable at these locations. When traveling with large motorhomes, consider accessing routes, as some parks have narrow entrance roads or tight turns that may challenge larger rigs.

    Douglas Forest RV Resort

    Awesome Campground In The Forest

We had an incredible stay at Douglas Forest RV Resort! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by how peaceful and well-maintained everything was. The RV sites are spacious and easy to navigate, with full hookups and strong Wi-Fi— a big plus for us since we work remotely on the road. What really sets this place apart is the location. You’re literally steps away from Douglas State Forest, which made morning hikes and evening strolls absolutely magical. It’s pet-friendly too, and our dog loved the wooded trails and open areas. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and the camp store had everything we needed. Even though the recreation area is still being built, the amenities already in place more than made up for it. We’re already planning our next trip for summer when the pool opens! If you’re looking for a relaxing spot that blends nature with convenience, look no further. Douglas Forest RV Resort is a true hidden gem!

    Mystic KOA

Great campground for coastal CT & RI

We stayed at Mystic KOA in North Stonington, Connecticut, to be tourists in Mystic. Spoiler alert… we had a great stay!

This campground is just 15-minutes from Mystic and about an hour’s drive to Newport, Rhode Island. It’s just a few minutes from I-95 and so close to Mystic Aquarium, downtown Mystic, Mystic Seaport, and all the local spots.

It’s a well-maintained campground with 2 pools(though the larger one was closed for maintenance during our stay), lots of play areas and daily activities for little ones, and a cool“pub truck” for adult drinks. Our site(#408) was about 85’ long with plenty of room for our 45’ motorhome and toad(and then some!). It was level and gravel with a nice fire ring and picnic table. The hookups worked fine with 50-amp electric and decent water pressure. Cable TV had nearly 50-channels, but the wi-fi didn’t quite reach our part of the park.

Due to a family issue, we needed to leave about a day-and-a-half early. We called the office as a courtesy to let them know as we were pulling out and received a partial credit for a night’s stay on our credit card. Didn’t even ask, they just did it. Thanks Mystic KOA!

We’ll definitely be back. This is a great place to stay when visiting the coastal Connecticut/Rhode Island area.

    Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park in Sturbridge - [CLOSED}

    Pine lake , Sturbridge Ma.

I’m told that this used to be Jellystone.

It’s now called Pine Lake Rv and cottages.

Not knowing what the previous campground was like I can’t compare. But the new owners surely did a total revamp. There is approximately 30 cottages and many pull through and back in sites for any size RV.

The bathroom/showers were all new and very nice and clean. It seems to be very family friendly. There’s an 8 acre lake with kayaks and fishing, a basketball court,   a game pavilion and a well stocked store. The RV sites are   spacious and pretty close to near perfect level.

The problems I came across was there were very few places to dispose of camp trash, I had to actually walk around looking for one. The camp store doesn’t open until 9:00AM and closes at 4:00PM

If you can, try and NOT stay on the back upper level ( the 700 ) spots. It’s around 100 feet from a very busy road and loud !

This is a nice family friendly campground that makes for easy trips. There are a variety of sites available, from open field sites to more wooded and private areas. Wawaloam Campground

    Family friendly, great campstore, quiet

We stayed here from a Tuesday to Thursday with our 21ft travel trailer & our dog. We had site 50. It was private, a great size & has water/electric. We had good cover on our site & the area our site was in was super quiet. There are both seasonal and regular sites on this campground. The camp store has everything you might need. The front gate staff are friendly and helpful. There seemed to be lots of activities on the weekends & it's definitely a family friendly/kid friendly spot. Dog friendly too! Lots of other campers had their dogs w them. We used this as our home base to visit Newport, which is about 35 min from the campground.

Seasonal campgrounds near Manchester, Connecticut operate primarily from May through mid-October, with limited winter camping options. The terrain varies from wooded settings to lakefront properties, with elevations ranging from 100-400 feet above sea level.

What to do

Fishing and boating access: At Aces High RV Park, guests appreciate the stocked pond and surrounding natural areas. "Beautiful pond and natural setting with lots of ducks, geese, chickens, and wild birds," notes a camper at Aces High RV Park, adding that there's "a creek area for dog swimming" that their "two labs loved."

Local attractions within 30 minutes: Explore the historic seaport district near camping options. "20-minutes drive to Mystic and all the touristy stuff to see and do," reports a reviewer about Aces High RV Park, while another camper at Sun Outdoors Mystic mentioned, "Our biggest complaint was the price but camping in New England can be very pricy so you just have to shell out the cash if you want to be in a popular tourist destination."

Hiking trails: Several state parks and forests surround the Manchester area. "There is a huge area of woods with a walking trail starting at the edge of the campground. I enjoyed stretching my legs," writes a visitor at Thousand Trails Sturbridge, which offers convenient access to nature paths despite being in a developed setting.

What campers like

Clean, well-maintained bathrooms: Facilities at newer campgrounds receive positive feedback. A guest at Sun Outdoors Mystic noted, "The bathrooms in the campground were newer and immaculate," and another camper mentioned, "The bathrooms and showers are spotless and newly painted."

Spacious sites at select locations: Some RV parks offer ample space between sites. "Sites and roads are a pea gravel material and each site has large grassy areas around it," reports a camper at Aces High RV Park, while another noted the "large pull throughs" that "also have lots of space between them so you don't feel like you are on top of the neighbors."

Resort-style amenities: Certain campgrounds provide additional activities beyond basic camping. They also have a nice little store and snack bar."

What you should know

Seasonal operation limitations: Most RV parks in the area close during winter months. Countryside RV Park runs from "May 1 to Oct 15" according to listing data, while Thousand Trails Sturbridge operates from "April 10 to October 25."
