Hidden gem

This campground is an amazing hidden gem. Twenty sites with some great selections.
I was surprised to see that it was never full. It got close on Saturday with people waiting for a site at Teal down the road first thing Sunday. The host Bob is a wonderful host, very laidback and helpful. He keeps…

Great campground

Silver Lake July 4th holiday What a great campground! There are three loops with one dedicated to group camping. Lots of great views and decent site separation. The elevation is 9,100 feet. There are trails to an overlook of the reservoir and down around the reservoir. The entire campground…

Dusty and close to the road

Dispersed camping next to the creek(Anvil camp sites are on the other side of the creek). This is really pretty but REALLY close to the VERY dusty forest service road. But, it’s not too far from another designated dispersed area  (Kendall) with vault toilets. The coolest little rabbits are running…

Great views

About 5 minutes outside of Telluride and Mountain Valley is this basic campground with amazing views of the mountains. Choose carefully because not every site has views. The best part of this campground is it’s location- only 15 minutes down the mountain to Telluride and all it has to offer.…

Off the beaten path

This campground is basically abandoned so no upkeep of the bathrooms or water. The sites were all nice, only a few in a loop with plenty of space between. Only a handful of people here and it’s a bit hidden.

Dispersed up on the pass

When you first pull in you will see several dispersed sites up and to your right. These are nice, but they fill up quickly. Instead, take a left onto Galloping Goose Trailhead road and pick one of the sites that back up to trees and have gray Mountain View’s. Be careful though as further down the…

Dispersed with a toilet

Large dispersed camping area with vault toilets. Lots of fire rings scattered around the rocky area. This site can get very full and very loud as it is very popular and close to Silverton. This campground can get very dusty as it is next to the forest road. It can also get loud in the day and early…

Average camping

Just your typical camping. Hillside views visible to few sites. Decent cell service for Verizon. Beautiful ride back down.

Downtown Telluride camping

The campground is bordered on one side by the San Juan River and by the park on the other side, making a tight but nice campground. There are some walk in tent sites, but most sites are large enough to accommodate small rvs. Showers are by token only, available on the back side of the bathhouse.…

Cows but still AWESOME!

Pulled the teardrop into a site almost all the way down the road (a spot at very end was already taken).  Tons of privacy though we are right on the road so the little bit of traffic that did drive past - folks camping nearby or looking to boondock - we'd wave and say hi.  Biggest surprise was all…

Too noisy

Beautiful and well kept campground but noisy as it’s off a major 4x4 road. Sites pretty close together and fills up quickly. $7 a night

Pricey for what you get

This developed campground seemed to be pretty expensive for not so great a location. It is right on the main highway and very loud. Sites with electric are the best sites as they are close to the creek. Tent only sites are on the upper terrace. While it was clean, the people friendly, and laid out…

Quiet, pretty, and buggy

Dispersed sites on the way to Ice Lake(which is currently closed due to forest fire Devistation). These are kinda cool little sites, a bit rocky, with a vault toilet and nice stone fire rings. It’s next to the creek, so it might be a bit buggy. I was dive bombed by hummingbirds. The limit is 14…
