Miners Creek Rd Designated Dispersed Camping

It sucked. Was closed says till May 20th. Can do everything else but reckon can't camp there till May 20th. It didn't say that on this site. Another month then might could camp at this dump. I didn't take a picture of the locked gate. Probably should had. Just a heads up. I wasted my time so hopefully can help someone not waste their time.

This is a good spot but confusing. You turn to go towards the trail. Once you get to the service road it starts at as what would look like a bike off. Yes you can drive on the path. Once you cross the road from the path you have to drive approximately 3/4 miles on trail. It’s pretty rough. I made it in my outback but I do have an Onyx XT with a 2 in suspension lift and 32’s. 2 creek crossings, rock bottom don’t be alarmed. After that there will be a sign said camping permitted passed this point. You’re good to go.

The road had a lot of damage. There were a ton of large holes. We have a campervan with a lot of ground clearance but turned around b/c it was very narrow and we didn’t want to pinstripe our van with all the overgrowth. We also came across a very large portion of the road that was washed out. I think it would be best for smaller 4WD vehicles with a lot of ground clearance.

Our campervan has a generator underneath and couldn’t make it up the trail to the camping sites. You don’t need AWD per se, but you will need ground clearance.

This is a great spot (road is tough at points getting in though) that allows dispersed camping per the signs on the road. Just follow Miners Creek road to where it meets with the temple trail (bike path) your allowed to cross it with your car and then proceed past a porta potty and public parking down the dirt road to the left and about 2-3 miles until dispersed camping is allowed per the signs posted and fire pits already there. Pack in and out.
