Week of Father's Day

Used Primitive #9 site along the creek. So peaceful and beautiful, trees shielded high winds and the few quick drizzles. Fishing was well above expectations, catching 14 large trout over the 2 night stay between the two of us. Highly recommend. We experienced no mosquitoes and the stay could not have been better!! 1989 Jamboree C-class.

Beautiful place to stay - lots to do

Beautiful small lake. I saw people catch trout. There is a good restaurant. Very cool at night. My sight had 20 amp only but I didn’t need to run AC. Actually used heater in the morning to break the chill. Saw lots of wildlife on my bike ride. No mountain bike trails but I found some pretty scenic riding.

Beautiful start in south central Colorado

A large campground at the foot of the southern San Isabel mountain range. When you first drive in there are secluded tent spots, then small cabins. There are many spots all around the lake, with large tenter sites on the opposite bank of the lake. We set up amongst the trees in a relatively open spot but there weren’t many campers there so it was no problem. Had a view of the lake and a vault toilet nearby (it was pretty disgusting). Clean showers/toilets on other side of lake. No picnic table on site, but it did have a box grill and a fire pit — burn ban was in effect though. A little stream nearby. Camp store, restaurant, boat rental on site. In all we were thankful for a spot in the summer with no reservations.

Hike, Fish and have fun!

This little hidden gem is a great way to spend your day. Although the site closes at dusk, there is plenty of time in the day to squeeze the juice out of this little alpine oasis. Fishing is allowed from shore, dock, boat or ice fishing during the winter months. Parking is easily accessible and free. This is a great place to picnic, cook out, drop a line in the water or hit a few laps around the lake on foot. Don’t pass through the front range without making a stop here. One word describes this place... Relaxing. An added bonus is that the Mt. Herman trailheads are a 5 minute drive away!

Beautiful Lake

This lake is in an absolutely beautiful part of the country. The campsites are all situated around the lake and each has a great lake view. Fishing is good as well. Close to a small convenience store and cafe so everything you need is near.

Fantastic!!

Great rv or tent sites. Amazing views and fishing

Small store and restaurant on site

Free fishing is usually first weekend in June and the local fire dept hosts a fishing tourney

Sites fill up quickly. Busy on weekends. We prefer Sun-Thur to miss the crowds.

Near Stonewall which has restaurant/small store. Nearby fly fishing at North Lake

Come with a full tank of gas!
