Convenient and relatively quiet
Cash or check only. Level gravel sites with hookup in the main section; a few dirt and less level sites with minimal or no hook ups down by river. Friendly and welcoming host. Cash or check only. Distant road noise; quiet otherwise. Aztec Ruins National Monument just down the street. Would stay here again.

Warning, thieves in area!!
Beautiful campground, great service, but after staying for 7 days I returned to my campsite (after being gone for less than 3 hrs) and someone had stollen all my items. Reported to forest service. (Literally stole a felony amount, I have never had this happen and I camp on dispersed lands a lot)

Great campground just west of Pagosa
Would have given a 5 star but numerous sites not very level: Those listed are either level, or 'good enough/level-ish': 22, 21, 11, 12, 13, 14, 7 (group site?), 8. 9, 10, 16. Vault toilets (2 pairs on either edge of campground) were CLEAN!, well-stocked, very nice and as good as it gets for vaults. Well tree'd, quiet, not busy at all in late September. Camp host was great and when we realized site 17 was not level (nor would orange levelers have worked), she let us switch with no problem (of course, it was not busy either). Potable water: 1 station available. Some sites not very close to bathrooms. Bears active in area (see pick below!). Very close to Chimney Rock ruins (go see if you have time). Would stay here again.

Decent Campground
We stayed here two night while we road the D&S steam train to Silverton. The campground was nice enough. It rained every day we were there. The road in was very long and took us through a lot of neighborhoods at speeds between 25 and 35mph ( beware a lot of speed cameras ) Bathrooms were clean. The area was quiet. No frills , deep in the forest

Good packed gravel road with many "camping" sign posts
We didn't go too far before we stopped at a large open area with many rock fire rings that was level and would accommodate several campers. The road seemed like a one way but we went out the same way we came in since we were unsure if we'd have to turn our class b with motorcycle trailer around.

Madden Peak Rd. - 1.7 miles
Great for boondocking! We were traveling in a 26ft. RV. I would not recommend traveling further than our campsite (37.355160,-108.196404 - 1.7miles down Madden Peak Rd.) if you are our size or larger. When you see the big power lines, I would recommend turning around. The rain rutted out the road a bit further down and made for rough travel. Spots to turn around were more scarce up the road as well. But there are numerous camp sites in that 1st 1.7 miles. This place is well maintained, and just beautiful!

South CG is 1 block from Downtown
2 campgrounds. South CG is a mile from main CG but 1 block from Downtown Silverton. Sites are small but plenty of things to do in area. Facilities are spotless and staff is friendly. Just keep in mind if you choose to stay at South CG it is in a residential neighborhood. I had no issues. People here are great.

Perfect for a few days
Quiet secluded spot. Sounds of the creek, birds and occasional semi air brakes coming down mountain. Absolutely beautiful. Shaded spots and full sun. Some spots are on top of each other and some are secluded. Look for fire rings(rocks) for established level sites. Or create your own. 3 miles from Silverton. Beautiful small town with good food. Definitely one of my favorite spots in Colorado to camp.
