Remote Campground in wine country

We were on a short trip through California in our new camper van. We had reserved all our stays at Harvest Host, but because the water pump in our van failed and we needed water and a shower we decided a camp ground would fit the bill. I called and was able to make reservation here the same day. …

Great getaway in wine country

Love this campsite. Large sites. Close to great restaurants and wine tasting.

Oak trees are dangerous

Nice clean plots, rangers were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately for me I timed my visit when the wind was supposed to pick up (so no camp fire). Some of the plots are covered by nice big shady oak trees with Andre the Giant thumb sized acorns. When the wind blew those things turned into…

Peaceful with nice shade. Bring insect countermeasures.

Lived in this area almost my whole life and never knew about this campground. Did a little recon prior to booking our trip and decided on site #39, as we were only staying for 3 nights and did not need any sun for solar for that short of a stay. Tons of shade with the sites along the south side of…

Quiet Sunday evening

Water fountains/spigots relatively easy to find near most campsites. Bathhouse is next to site 10, operates with quarters. Site 7 is fairly flat, not terrible wide but plenty of room to put out slide and walk around RV. Further in on sitge has picnic table and more space. No fires right now,…

Clean, but close camping.

We got a same day reservation, thankfully, because it was impossible to reserve anywhere in the area. We just wanted to car camp overnight to test drive our gear before a longer road trip. We got placed into site 6, which happened to be a handicapped accessible spot. It was level (perfect for our…

Nice family campground

This is a nice and quiet campground that is great for kids and families. Easy access to a lot of trails. The view from the campground is nice and relaxing. Some sites are very tight and close to each other. Some are spacious enough. We stayed on site 29 which is next to the camp host. We got a…

Fun Camping in the Middle of Napa Valley Wine Country

I've camped here more times than I can count.  I remember camping here during several wine-soaked weekends with large groups of friends, back in my younger days.  We rode our bikes through the Napa valley, stopping at multiple wineries along the way.  Then, after a day of riding and wine tasting,…

Ritchey Creek Campground

Beautiful Campground in the heart of Napa Valley. Sites are generous in size and uncrowded. The bathrooms were kept pristine and always had TP. We had campsite 47 which backs up to the creek. The rumbling sound from the creek lulled us to sleep. We set up our tent towards the back of the site…

Some spots better than others

Pricy, but on par for Bay Area. Some sites are very small and close together. Others are ample. Sites along the creek get more sun (except for 27 and 28 which are shaded) and are larger.

Great star watching. Small creek is great for kids.

Beautiful, Quiet, Convenient

Idyllic campsites along a creek under the trees. Sites are close together but don’t feel crowded. Good spots for tents. Restrooms are individual, clean and better than usual for state parks. There is a swimming pool, although I didn’t use it. Close to a town, if you should need something. An easy…

Very small sites

Super close to everyone. Also weird how many Porta-podies right across every site. Lots of people. Kinda expensive.

Beautiful family campground

We stayed in the spur of the campground, the views to the front of us were amazing! Then right behind us there was an incredible never ending hill covered in ferns and tall trees, and grey fox dens because we had a gorgeous one visit our camp! We had a ton of shade and enough sun to warm up, it was…

Excellent No-Frills Experience

This was Part 2 of a "Test My Gear Close to Home" camping experience.  It's close enough to the wine country aspects of Napa to be an easy overnight without the excruciating Napa Valley hotel prices.  Google doesn't like finding the entrance, but I got the street address off the website and…
