Winter in Coloma

Beautiful campground along the American River in Coloma CA. The campground contains both on river and off river sites. You can literally backup to the rivers edge in the on river sites. On river is water and electric only. Full hookups off river. This is our 2nd December in a row staying…

Beautiful area

Very nice campground, but cell coverage is nonexistent outside of one small area.

Fancy!

This is a really pretty, beautifully maintained campground with a lot of topography. The buildings are beautiful and there are a lot of amenities, including a very nice kitchen and hang-out space (though it was closed during my visit). There are showers, good drinking water, dish-washing sinks, and…

A nice pre-thanksgiving getaway

Beautiful fall surroundings right adjacent to the South Fork of the American River. Easy walk or car ride to numerous hiking trails. Looks like the perfect place to catch some white water rafting next summer. Restroom / Shower facilities finishes are a little dated but clean, well maintained and…

We loved our stay!

As full timers- we thought we hit the jackpot for the area in order to be near the towns we wanted to explore and also have service for good wifi. We had enough AT&T service for one person to work fine on the wifi. There are also plenty of coffeeshops about 5 mins away for stronger wifi.

Nice spot along the river

Stayed one night and pitched our tent along side the American River. The spots were a little spread out, so night time was a little too quiet. Our site was next to the raft launch/pickup, so there were a couple of groups picked up during the day. Bathrooms were average and the site was…

Nice spot on the river

First visit here. Our campsite was right on the river. We enjoyed our stay here and would likely return to lounge in the river during the summer. Nice trails to explore that run along the river’s edge. Easy trails for beginners.

Best Camping Spot Yet!

Came here as a plan B after the road to Bowman had too much snow. This was one of those plan B’s that turned out better than the original!

Only one other group on the opposite end of the campground since it has a north/south side. There aren’t many spots and they are well spaced out. Tables and…

Charming primitive campground!

Came to Mineral Bar in late September and loved it. It's only about an hour from Sacramento, including that windy road down into the canyon. The river was VERY low, but it was still fun to play around and float away the hot early fall afternoon.

The sites are fairly small and the campground…

So much fun — highly recommend!

We stayed at the American River Outpost campground for a rafting tour with OARS a few years ago, and it was such a blast! This was our first time whitewater rafting, and it was a great experience. The campground is in Coloma, which is in the heart of Gold Rush country. The guides were knowledgeable…

Great family atmosphere

We loved the Coloma Campground. There were lots of amenities, group areas, large grass are by the river, lots of trails, cabins, a short walk across the bridge to the gold rush park and a great little restaurant for coffee and small plates.

Great getaway!

We spent two nights doing a family and friends reunion. We loved our rv spot, the rest of the group had great tent site and glamping tents. Facilities were super clean and nice. Pool was small but the pool area was really nice. Great location for swimming in the Yuba river!

Nice location by the River.

Sites 1-4 are walk in, the rest are drive up. All sites are right on the riverbank. Gold panning is popular here. Quiet campground with the relaxing sound of the river.
