    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Willow Beach Campground features 17 pet-friendly campsites on the Arkansas River with covered picnic tables, fire rings and spacious paved pads. Located 15 minutes from downtown, this Army Corps of Engineers facility provides water and electric hookups (50-amp) at all campsites with access to a centralized dump station. The bathroom building constructed in 2019 contains four individual units with showers and changing stations. During summer months, campers should be prepared for mosquitoes along the waterfront. Frequent wildlife sightings include snakes, particularly in grassy areas. The America the Beautiful pass reduces the $19 nightly fee to $9 for qualifying visitors.

Riverside camping opportunities continue at Tar Camp, where all RV spots sit along the Arkansas River's edge with water and electric service. Pets remain on-leash throughout these facilities while enjoying the shoreline areas. The campground reopened in March 2021 following flood repairs with newly renovated facilities. Downtown Riverside RV Park in North Little Rock and Catherine's Landing in Hot Springs expand pet accommodation options with full hookups and cabin rentals that accept animals. Little Rock North KOA Junction offers pet-friendly glamping accommodations alongside traditional camping. Lake Catherine State Park Campground provides year-round pet access with comprehensive amenities including sewer connections and shower facilities. Dog-friendly campgrounds near Hensley range from riverside RV sites with full hookups to state park campgrounds with sewer connections, giving pet owners concrete options across multiple price points and settings.

      Catherine's Landing

      Very Nice, Lots of Amenities

Catherine’s Landing is a great RV park with lots of amenities and things happening. This park is an RVC Outdoor Destination property which is known for their “resort” amenities. The park is set on 400 acres with one mile bordering Lake Catherine and about eight or nine miles from downtown Hot Springs.

All roads, sites and patios are paved and this is definitely a big rig-friendly park. Every site has water, 50/30 amp, sewer, cable, and wifi. Fire pits and picnic tables accompany all sites. There are a variety of sites ranging from waterfront back-in, pull-thrus, or interior back-in. Waterfront sites have a nice view of the lake from the back of the site and access for fishing. The park also has yurts and cottages (some of which are pet-friendly). Adjacent to the yurts is a nice, large covered picnic area with grills, a dish washing station.

Lots and lots of amenities here. Hiking trails, swimming pool, fitness center, lounge, playground, dog park, zip-line, boat rental, boat launch, store, and disc golf. Some amenities (boat rentals and zip-line) are an extra charge.

Hot Springs is a nice little town nestled in the Ouachita Mountains with interesting history and natural beauty. We found plenty to do from hiking the National Park to learning about the bathhouse history to discovering the gangster influence. We spent four nights and could have stayed longer with all that the town offers. Most people come here to bathe in the soothing warm mineral waters but there is also a horse racetrack, science museum, off road track, water/theme park, alligator farm, and a few museums. Hot Springs National Park has miles and miles of great hiking trails and a great place to spend an afternoon. The town of Hot Springs is very dog-friendly and we found many places that would allow them in and on the patio for lunch.

      Pros:

      • Very nice, clean, well-manicured
      • Lots of amenities
      •  Paved level sites with paved patios
      • The dog park was a decent size for running and mingling with other dogs
      • The hiking trail(about 3 miles) was a big plus and got used a lot.

      Cons:

      • Price. We booked late and didn’t have too many sites to choose from we had to pay for a waterfront site

      Catherine's Landing

Great campground on Lake Catherine and close to Hot Springs

Top notch RV campground that is well maintained and has a friendly professional staff. Lots of amenities like disc golf, hiking trails, pool, zip line course, lake access and two dog parks that were the cleanest I’ve seen at an rv park. We had site 204 which is a back in site with FHU on driver’s side. We loved this site because it was on the back side of the campground, near the dog park and lots of open space behind us to play with our dog. All of the sites are very spacious, concrete pads, well maintained hook ups, and most are full sun. This was our second visit and we will definitely be back.

      Little Rock North KOA

Only 1 Tent Site on the property !

It was great. I have the only tent site they offer. It’s away from the RV area. The couple that runs the KOA are super friendly. There is a pool but not open for some reason. Small dog park. Camp store. Clean. And an ice cream shop! The only drawback is it’s close to the freeway and you can hear a LOT of traffic.

      Hot Springs National Park KOA

      Enjoyable maiden voyage

I have little to go off of, but this is a very clean, safe feeling place. Close to the national park, friendly employees and guests, several mini trails and a dog park.

      Sweet Escape RV Resort

      Must place to camp

Second time staying there. Even better than the first time. The dog park is fabulous, enough room for 2 German Shepherds to run. We were able to pick blackberries, walking trails are so well maintained.

      J and J RV Park

      Very Nice, Quiet Place

This park was very peaceful and quiet. You can hear the bullfrogs at night. JJ - the owner was the ice on the cake. Just such a nice fellow. There are several full timers there. It is right on a little creek, and there are turkeys somewhere nearby. The RV Park is very very close to Hot Springs National Park, and there is an amusement park right across the highway. The Wi-Fi is nonexistent. There is no dog park, but plenty of space to walk your fur children. We enjoyed the full hook ups. Nice big pull thru sites. There is a laundry room and bathrooms on the premises. I had an enjoyable experience, and would gladly stay there again if I am ever nearby.

      Sweet Escape RV Resort

      Great place to stay!

Very friendly campground. Many amenities including laundry, bathhouse, very nice showers, and large dog park. We really enjoyed the fishing ponds as well. The owners could not have been nicer and more helpful. Would recommend this place to anyone.

    Guide to Hensley

Pet-friendly camping options near Hensley, Arkansas allow visitors to explore the Arkansas River basin at an elevation of about 230 feet. This low-lying region experiences hot, humid summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and mild winters. The surrounding pine forests and riverfront landscapes create natural habitat for diverse wildlife including deer, raccoons, and numerous bird species.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: At Tar Camp, all RV spots sit directly on the Arkansas River, making it ideal for anglers. "On the Arkansas River, it's a clean and beautiful park. Rv spots on all on the rivers edge. Plenty of room. Price for rv camping was very good," shares Mary Ann H.

Hiking adventures: Lake Catherine State Park Campground offers multiple trails for all skill levels. Alison C. explains, "We really enjoyed hiking the Falls Branch Trail with my nieces (8 and 10 years old). I would highly recommend this trail." Another visitor notes, "Three very good trails within the park. Situated on a beautiful lake near Hot Springs, AR with a marina."

Water recreation: Boat rentals and water activities await at campgrounds with river or lake access. "The boat ramp and docks were safe for fishing," reports Wendy P. about Catherine's Landing. Another camper shares, "The canoe, kayak and boat rentals are in good condition," providing options beyond personal watercraft.

    What campers like

Spacious campsites: Many dog friendly campgrounds near Hensley feature well-designed sites. Rod A. from Willow Beach notes, "Spaced spread out not crowded. Campground is low and will be soggy after rain." Jo E. adds, "The sites are extremely level! I didn't even need to level my pop-up camper!!"

Modern facilities: Some campgrounds offer recently renovated amenities. Jennifer H. describes Catherine's Landing as having "two dog parks that were the cleanest I've seen at an rv park." Another visitor explains, "The shower rooms are large and stone tiled," though they noted some ongoing ceiling repairs.

Proximity to attractions: Pet-friendly camping areas provide convenient access to regional highlights. "It's a great and unique campground with full hook ups and a great price. It was nice to be parked in a place that didn't require driving to explore," writes Michelle H. about Downtown Riverside RV Park.

    What you should know

Weather considerations: Summer heat affects both humans and pets. Kelly E. observed at Willow Beach, "It is near water so there are a lot of mosquitos, so come prepared. The only downside is the bathroom/shower rooms... they all feel like the heat is on in them when it is 100° here today."

Wildlife encounters: Several campgrounds report frequent wildlife sightings. At Maumelle Park, visitors note, "Lots of geese wandering around & still chatty late at night- but kinda cute to hear." Be aware that snakes are common in grassy areas near water.

Reservation requirements: Some campgrounds require advance planning while others operate first-come, first-served. Steve S. mentioned Tar Camp was temporarily closed but "informed 11-1-2020 That they will be opening March of 2021." Check current status before traveling.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Some pet-friendly campgrounds also cater to children. At Catherine's Landing, Bridget C. reports, "Kid friendly. Great upkeep and sites that are easily accessible. Playground, splash pad, and pool." Lauren N. adds, "We came with little kids and they explored their hearts out. Along the river there's a trail and fun places for the kids to play and play."

Educational opportunities: Many campgrounds offer learning experiences alongside recreation. At Lake Catherine, "The camp sites are spaced for privacy and are level for both campers and tents. The facilities are updated and well maintained. The park has a couple hiking options along with the lake activities," explains Chad K.

Activity planning: For families with pets, consider temperature constraints. When visiting Gulpha Gorge Campground near Hot Springs National Park, Patrick M. suggests, "Lots of hiking trails accessible from the nearby trailhead and a quick drive to the historic and charming Bathhouse Row downtown." Early morning or evening activities work best during summer months.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection: RVers should choose sites that accommodate their specific needs. Jennifer H. recommends at Catherine's Landing, "We had site 204 which is a back in site with FHU on driver's side. We loved this site because it was on the back side of the campground, near the dog park and lots of open space behind us to play with our dog."

Hookup availability: Water and electric connections vary between campgrounds. Rod A. notes that Willow Beach offers "50 Amp electric, water no sewer hook up but dump station," while Downtown Riverside RV Park provides "Full hookup (sewer, water, 50 AMP)" according to Beth R.

Access considerations: Some campgrounds accommodate larger RVs better than others. Richard S. describes Downtown Riverside RV Park: "Lots of pull through and back in sites, some are long enough you can put two rigs in (and there are hookups for two as well!)" This makes it particularly suitable for pet-friendly camping with larger vehicles near Hensley, Arkansas.
