Tonto National Forest manages this free dispersed area along a paved road with potholes about half a mile off the highway, where a right turn onto dirt leads to the main camping area. No services here. Fire rings exist at the first cluster of roughly four spaces, but they're primitive, so a grill or cookstove is worth bringing. The road narrows and roughens past the initial sites, making larger rigs a risk beyond the first pullouts. Campers wanting low-traffic surroundings will find places to camp around Tonto National Forest at varying levels of development, but this site draws those comfortable with pack-in, pack-out basics and minimal neighbors.
