Really nice spot

It’s a really nice spot, not the best amenities but there’s so much to explore, you can drive ahead this campground and take the dirt road to some of the most wonderful places, I was able to get really deep with a road motorcycle so you don’t really need an 4*4 but I would definitely recommend…

Decent campground, few amenities, in the middle of nowhere

Enjoyed three nights and generally had the place to ourselves excluding the host. The host was very nice. The fee station was out of order during our stay, so we paid via daily tickets at a place in Globe on our way out. The campground is right off the highway so there was a fair amount of traffic…

Awesome time.

Quick getaway close to home but seemed like we were far away. Yes there are OHVs out here but nothing rowdy going on by us. We camp wit a TT and had a great time.

Beautiful views on a busy road.

The views are amazing but so is the traffic. But around 9pm it quiets down. Sites are close to the road for the most part unless you have a high clearance vehicle. Lots of hiking in the area. Trail head at end of road gets very busy. Oh also this is state trust land so permit is required.

The road to Know Where

The End of the road starts here

50/50

For every good thing there was a bad. We stayed at Coyote Loop. You can’t fish from the shore because all the dead trees that go out about 10 feet along the entire shore (awesome if you have a boat; I guess). I expected lots of generators and the sound that it makes, myself included. I didn’t…

Great for Equestrian Campers, Hikers, and OHVers

This area is out there, man, way out there -- but if you want to get further out there, you can. The National Forest to the northeast of Roosevelt Lake is vast and sparsely populated. It is a perfect area to get away, well away, from others.

Cherry Creek Rd. quickly leaves pavement behind and…

Quiet, Gorgeous, Tons of Hiking!

Drive through the town of Gold Canyon AZ, and you quickly leave behind the sprawl of suburban Phoenix, but embrace the sprawling landscape of the Sonoran Desert which is brimming with life in the spring. The unpaved road leads to multiple pull-offs and side roads where you can find the perfect spot…

Not our type of place, too many generators!

I’m sure that for some, this is their favorite camping area, someplace to return to each and every spring with the family. It has everything one needs to get away from the valley, and out onto the lake for some motorized boating.

The smallish spaced campsites are perfect for getting together…

  • We chose the site farthest from everyone else, but it didn't help with the noise.
  • Lots of open space behind each site, though.
  • Whew.....hot by 9:30am, even in March!

Box Canyon dispersed camping

We were actually a bit south of this (but the app won't let me add a new camping area). This is on AZ State Trust land d and a permit is required. https://land.az.gov/

There are wide open spaces for solo or group camping and it is close to town. This is a great winter camping spot!

Hot showers, clean bathrooms, boat ramps, and fishing docks. Depending on the time of year it can be rowdy and crowded. Week days are relaxing and quiet. It’s named windy hill for a reason. Stake everything by down well and don’t leave shade pop up tents up while you’re out, they might be gone to…

Immaculate, Quiet and a Great Host -Good Tent Sites!

My friends and I stopped for an overnight on a motorcycle adventure in late March 2021.  We camped in the Coati Loop on the eastern end of the CG across from the restroom with flush toilets and sink.  Each site has a picnic table and shade ramada (canopy).  A water spigot was nearby with great…
