Away from the busier Las Vegas side of Lake Mead, Callville Bay Campground operates 52 sites on a single open loop in desert terrain. The National Park Service facility sits approximately two miles from the marina, where campers access boat launches and a small store with limited supplies.
Sites cluster together with minimal vegetation between them, offering little privacy but providing most campers with lake views. Water hookups are available, though several reviewers question the water quality. The campground includes flush toilets, a dump station, and trash service, but no electrical hookups or shower facilities. Greg L. notes it remains "one of my favorite Lake Mead Campgrounds" despite the basic amenities.
Cell coverage runs strong across all major carriers, and rangers offer limited WiFi access. The area stays notably quiet, particularly during off-peak seasons when occupancy drops significantly. A short hiking trail across the road leads to an overlook of the lake. Sites 1-2 operate as first-come, first-served and require cash payment, while the remaining sites accept reservations. For expanded options in the region, campers can explore camping near Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
The 30-day camping limit and proximity to dispersed camping areas make this a practical base for exploring Lake Mead's backcountry trails and water access points.
