Equestrian Campground

We stayed at the equestrian campground at Oak Mountain. It was very nice and quiet. Once you go through the gate take your first left and keep driving. We only stayed 2 nights and didn't get to see everything they have at the park. We want to go back!

Good weekday retreat

Due to poor GPS routing that wanted us to take roads not suitable for RVs or Camper towing, that meant we had to stop and map ourselves to a safer route; we arrived just at posted closing time. The staff was very helpful despite our untimely arrival. Our campsite was clean and well maintained. Bank…

Spacious RV Site

This RV site is located in a more private area somewhat removed from the main road but still very close to the racetrack with easy access. The campground is a slightly wooded large grassy area where you can park your RV or set up a tent. They have a nice bathroom facility and the campground is kept…

Campground closed

Campground is shut down. Run down. Hasn’t been up kept for some reason. Guessing COVID. Did have boat ramp and a vault toilet for day use only. Looks to have been a nice place when it was opened.

Don’t Stay Here

We needed a campground close to the hwy for a quick overnight stay. Big mistake. It smelled like dead animals so badly that we had hold our breath at times bc of the smell. We thought the playground would be good for our girls, but between the overgrown weeds and the smell, they couldn’t even…

Super clean!

Our first time to camp here; first impression was how clean the sites are. Warm showers and flush toilets. Our site is overlooking the water, each site has water and electric. $28 for RV sites and $20 for tent sites. Very spacious. About a 15 min drive to Tuscaloosa. No firewood or camp store, so…

Beautiful waterfront site

Our campsite was wonderful. When we started to kayak there was a ton of trash in the water but eventually the water started moving and cleared it out. Probably had something to do with the dam. We found what looked like it could have been a hiking trail but it was overgrown.

Nice lake, great mountain bike/hiking trails

We stayed at a great waterfront site, which was amazing, and had full hookups. (Although it did get full sun in the afternoons, which was warm) Some of the other sites are W/E only and some are not as great.  The park buildings and docks are a bit dated, but the staff was very nice.  The lake is…

Something for everyone

This is a must visit park. Plan to stay at least 3 days. The campground is very nice. The bathrooms and showers need some maintenance, but overall it's nice. There are many activities for everyone of all ages and abilities. They have a Gulf course, an interactive farm, wildlife area with animals,…

Small backcountry site

This is a small area for backcountry camping in the Weogufka State Forest. You can park fairly close to the site and there is enough space for a couple of hammocks or a single tent. There are better sites in the area but this one is easy to access and is already established. The hiking in the area…

Stadium RV Parking

This is about the only place in the Birmingham area to stay in an R.V. It is essentially a large parking lot with RV pull through spaces. We use it when we go to Birmingham to visit the family. It does have a nice kids playground and you can use the facilities inside the stadium as well as the…

Peach Queen campground

When we arrived the grass was very tall. They did mow today. Just not my site as we were occupying it. It has full hook ups. Not very much shade. My site has none. The bathrooms are dirty. The pool is a nice size. It could use a vacuum. There is a decent size jungle gym at the playground. My 8 year…
